A lot of this is still extremely speculative right now, as it's just musings and not something that we have the time to implement prior to 1.0. So there's definitely a lot of thinking that still needs to go on before we can fully implement this!

That said, the idea is that these are kind of parallel universes, not something that the two of you cross over between (so no joint missions). Sharing resources is one thing that would be really interesting, but as some people pointed out that starts to feel a bit like a silly Facebook game. Sharing bits and pieces of cross-simulation would thus also be relevant -- making the risks be shared as well as rewards, so that you can play complementary roles to one another and increase the chance of winning both solar systems that way.

The specifics still need a lot of thinking-through, to be sure, and I'm not really at the point where I have the mental energy to fully do that yet. But! I think that it's also very important to clarify the overarching goals, and that's mainly what this post has been aimed at. The feedback on needing shared risks has been particularly interesting thus far.

This is unfortunate, and we're presuming that this was a coincidence on the part of the artists who did the concept art. Looking at the one from IM, there are enough differences to make it not wholly blatantly obvious it was a ripoff, anyhow.

All that said, it's clearly very much too similar now that I see the version from the other game (was not particularly aware of that game myself). I've contacted the lead producer over at Heavy Cat, and she's quite upset over this and going to get the concept art reworked substantially so that there is no question of even accidental impropriety.

Thanks for the catch! That would have been much more trouble later if we hadn't known about the similarity before fully doing out all the art for it.

overlordror -- Bear in mind you can move diagonally, as in Zelda 3, but your character just only faces four directions. In Zelda 3 they also solved this problem by giving your melee swipes an arc, so that they hit both straight ahead and also on a diagonal a bit. That's something we also plan to do some for melee weapons.

However, in terms of ranged attacks, we also have a targeting system where you simple hit tab to target whatever enemy, and then most ranged attacks you launch go straight at them. There are a few types of spells that are area damage or whatever that follow specific rules based on being able to hit many enemies at once, but most work on the targeting.

Suffice it to say, there really shouldn't be cases where the enemy is easily hitting you and you are not able to hit them, based on the way you move. Hope that makes sense!
