Downloaded and installed from "USC_0_9_1_3_Update.exe" but it just crashes upon trying to launch the game executable. Win 8.1 64-bit.

There was an issue with the standalone installers (my fault, not Desura's) - everything should be working now! :)

Ah, probably not at this point. I'm trying to keep everything separate as to keep confusion to a minimum.

When you descend using the elevator there's a random chance to find a survivor if you don't have a full squad. Multiplayer is currently not a priority. Adversarial probably won't happen (balance would be really off with human players controlling the robots and aliens) but co-op might.

There should be a "Use Elevator" button that pops up on the bottom left corner of the screen. Alternately hit 'L' to descend.

You can purchase from alien merchants (creepy things in the blue tubes), but you can only interact with the merchant at a high enough marine rank.

Yes :) All buyers will get a Steam key if/when the game gets on Steam, regardless of where you purchased it.

Hey, rifrazionista. This has come up a few times now regarding low end machines and low resolutions.

Try the following:

1) Shut down Steam Marines.

2) Go to "C:\Users\<user name>\AppData\Roaming\Worthless Bums\Steam
Marines\common\commonConfig.xml", replacing <user name> with your
operating system's user name.

3) Open the xml file with any text editor. You should see tags for
"Resolution" and "Fullscreen".

4) Try changing them to something like this:
<Resolution>800 600</Resolution>
<FullScreen>0</FullScreen>

5) Boot Steam Marines. The game should launch at 800x600 windowed. From
there you should also be able to access the Options->Video Settings and
change the resolution to something more appropriate if necessary.

I'm not paying for testers right now if that's what you mean. You are of course encouraged to report any bugs you find or submit general feedback :)

I did write a recommendation for one of my older testers who had played the game since open alpha.

That shouldn't happen - I'll look into it.

Although there's a bug in the demo that if you switch marines with the mouse auto-switch still triggers. That'll be fixed when I push the new builds within the next few days.

Actually it was always slated to be paid, but it was in open alpha for months! :)

The demo is currently the first three decks (five levels each) and allows New Game+. There's no real story to the game so I don't know how cliffhanger-y you'd think it is.

The next (paid) build will be adding two more decks which will not be available in the demo. I may cut NG+ from the demo, not because I'm malicious but because it messes up the scoring system if I don't. Still thinking about it!

That's the first report of that happening and unfortunately I think that if it's also happening in PZ and MC it's probably because of a software/hardware issue on your computer and is not a result of the games themselves.

If you'd like you can mail me your console.log file in your Steam Marines folder to yjseow@worthlessbums.com and I will look it over, but I am skeptical I will be able to diagnosis the issue.

Could you send your log file to yjseow@worthlessbums.com ? It's called "console.log" - it should be in your Steam Marines folder.

Yeah, I tried to set the Desura prices roughly equal to $4.99 USD - but the rates change a lot :P

And Humble = Desura + Steam (when it gets on), too!

I sent the Desura keys to Humble yesterday but have not yet received a response on whether they've been distributed. I'll follow up with them in a few hours if I don't hear from them.
