Which mission did you try and start? Also, I think the current OT mod only uses an earlier FSO version.
Thanks! Well in theory it is possible, but you would have to do a lot of table editing. So if you wanted to do that I would say go for it!, but we would not be able to provide support.
Yes, these are annoying bugs I agree. Most of the missions are very simple, as honestly we never reached the goals of having detailed and long missions. We mainly released to so others could make their own missions.
I still want to help make missions, but sadly most days there just isn't enough hours in the day.
Go to the techroom, then mission simulator.

Nice catch Yeah, a unfortunately overly busy RL has slowed campaign production at the moment, but we still want to work on making an adaptive, pseudo-procedurally generated set of missions.
