Nope, I'm afraid not. 0.5 will never be released... because we're moving straight to 0.6!
The next release will be entirely on the Orange Box Engine, and is a completely code-rewrite to ensure it's as tight as possible. We're already around a 1/3rd of the way through, and it wont take much longer! So keep your eyes peeled for more news!
That's achieved using After Effects, basically you duplicate the video clip you want the lighting effect on, so it's layered ontop of each other. Then you change the blending mode to screen, add a gaussian blur (any amount depending on how intense you want it), and change the opacity to affect how much of the effect you want seen. So...
I'm personally really enjoying these updates. It's far more interesting to me to see the detail of the work going into the next update rather than just "WHOA LOOK AT THE SHINY!!".
Well, I thoroughly enjoyed this article! Short, sweet, to the point and very fun too! And I think it IS something that needs to be said from time to time. Too many startup teams sadly waste people's time by setting expectations and aims way too high, and expecting/demanding other people do the real work.
An article like this is a great, fun way of saying "maybe, you should make a whole bunch of stuff first, and the karmic reward of doing this will be that a few GREAT team members will join your mod and make it awesome!"
Ryan Anderson AKA Stenchy: The scribe behind the words of ModDB, eloquently taking us upon finely worded journeys into the deepest and darkest realms of modding. Stenchy is the man who gets the job done, keeps the shizzle together, and cracks the whip when Henley starts lagging behind on them sexy videos! Together, both he and Dave sprinkle the awesome that is... ModDB.
Hehe! Seriously though, great job guys, and hope ya feel better soon Ryan!
Gah! This ones a toss up between Infinity: Quest for Earth and Zeno Clash for me... The former because I want to believe that what they set out to do is actually possible, and fun, and the latter because the art direction is simply phenomenal, like a cross between Dark Crystal and The Labyrinth with the charm and soul of both.
Wait for the release of 0.5 buddy... Then there'll be plenty! Just to be clear, Dinosaurs and Robots are NOT in the current release... they are in the NEXT release.
Well, firstly I used the steps in the tutorial I just posted on the front page (http://www.moddb.com/mods/jailbreak/tutorials/demo-smoother-tutorial-for-sexy-trailers). Then I edited the footage I recorded using Adobe After Effects CS3. :D
Thanks guys! I hope that this will enable others to make some lovely trailers for your own mods or just mods you like to play. If you have any questions, I'll do my best to answer them here, and likewise, if you do make something, post it, as I'd love to see it!
Sadly, due to a few whingy types who don't like free games "cluttering up" their games list, Valve withdrew all the Source Mods from peoples Uninstalled foldout tab, so now the Source mods can only be found in the Mods section of the store.
Wooo! God I love this mod, it's by far and away one of the best out there. Been playing all evening, and it's such a rush cutting engines on a pursuing fighter, spinning around on a penny and seeing that moment of "wtf? how did he do that?!!" as you plow into them with dual cannons roaring. Love the new game modes too, adds some great variety to the server rotation.
But the best bit is how friendly everyone's being, there's no rude players (that I've seen), everyone is decent and helpful and the devs are great fun to play against. Can't wait to join you guys on the servers, especially if I get to kill Dave :D
LOL! Sorry man :D To make it very clear:
JAILBREAK IS MOVING TO 0.6 AND IT'S GONNA RAWK!

Sorry guys, you need to press SHIFT-F2 together. Updated the tutorial to reflect this.
Any Valve game! Valve changed it so you can run Orange Box mods without owning an Orange Box game a while back.
*sigh* FilePlanet Exclusive :(
Looking forward to this, looks fantastic and should be a refreshing change of pace/gameplay, but... the FP Exclusive route? Big shame.
Just wanted to make it clear that Mike Gomersall is the musician behind this track :D
Absolute. *******. Genius.
Sorry to hear that man! Did you find the spinup time too quick? Or the power of the chaingun itself?
Fantastic! I've had Deus Ex installed for months in preparation for this!
BOOMBOOMBOOM! Most satisfying weapon we've put in yet!

LOL! Shameless publicity is fine by me! We do it all the time!
It was around 4 weeks ago now I think! Thanks for the comments guys, thoroughly enjoyable banter once again!
Haha! GROUP HUG!!
You forgot yourself buddy! I'll add ya!

Fantastic! Well done to the Mount and Blade team! Well deserved!
You don't think L4D has a rabid fanbase? Congrats to darth_brush :D
Now THAT'S the sexy lighting I was talking about! Good job Alt :D
Congrats guys, when do we get to preorder? :D

Oh awesome, I didn't know that! Thanks man, that's a very useful tip... just looked it up and it's apparently "sv_specnoclip". Updated the tutorial!
