Yep, and now it LIVES!!
Looking absolutely fantastic buddy!
Absolutely beautiful guys! Love that you guys are pushing the Source engine so hard with this, it shows how versatile it is.
Fantastic! Well done to the Mount and Blade team! Well deserved!
You have to browse to the Store Page to get it: Store.steampowered.com
Just clicky, "Play Game" to start downloading.
Sadly, due to a few whingy types who don't like free games "cluttering up" their games list, Valve withdrew all the Source Mods from peoples Uninstalled foldout tab, so now the Source mods can only be found in the Mods section of the store.
Hehe! Thanks man, it's rapidly become the beta testers favourite since we began testing... Also I forgot to mention this in the post, but we requested a few months back that people on our forums submit photos of themselves waving their arms in the air like loonies with the promise of appearing in Jailbreak if they did... We had a huge response, and those photographs were then used to make up the crowds all around the stadium :D
Wow! Man, this is looking fantastic guys, great job on the video too! And Alt, your map is looking soooooo sexy!
Fantastic work guys, the art style is great, as Intense says, I hope the gameplay matches! Can't wait!!!
What an odd fellow, AMDK6 is... Pay no attention! Awesome work guys! :D
Hehe :D As Izanagi keeps saying PIE PIE PIE PIE PIE!
It is indeed! We haven't ported any of the maps/weapons or style over though - thats all new :D
Well that was amazing, right up to the combat. The game is incredibly good, really well told story... then it just started punishing me constantly... I've been playing through the same section (the chemical clearance squads) for the last hour, really trying, but I've given up. It's really frustrating, every combat moment has to be perfectly executed, and the only way to figure out how to succeed without dying/bleeding to death, is to save and reload every 30 seconds (there's no med packs in the area, bleeding to death is unstoppable). I'll try again later, but it's quite upsetting to be thoroughly enjoying something, only to find I can't enjoy the combat as its simply too hard, and therfore can't enjoy the rest of the experience.
Amazing mod guys, no doubt about it... Polished, great architecture, lovely textures, nice weapons/models/players, good acting, well written dialogue, great dream sequences... shame about the combat gameplay.
I will try it again, as I WANT to get past it and enjoy it... Maybe I'm missing something... If I'm not, I'm sad.
It seems to be a Steam issue, but I could be wrong. Either way, it's fixed by starting any other Valve game, but TF2 or CSS seem to be succesful at fixing it :)
Hmm... Yeah let know how it goes, and I'll try to help out.
There's 41 servers and 110 players right now for me.
You should be able to send a shortcut to your desktop from within Steam, just right click on the game in Steam (once you've restarted it will show up in My Games), then choose Create desktop Shortcut. I've found on Windows 7 you need to tell the shortcut where the Jailbreak.ico file is, so browse to the jailbreak/resource directory to find it. Hope this helps!
Indeed, you're in a very small minority as Dogmeat says, just ask us for help and we'll try to figure out what's wrong, and if we can't we'll see if we can fix it in a patch.
No need! Just load up Counter-Strike or Team Fortress 2 to re-login to the Steam auth servers and then quit and restart Steam, then load Jailbreak.
That's a Steam Issue. You can fix it by loading up any other Valve game, but Counter-Strike or TF2 seem to guarantee the fix, so just load one up, close it, restart Steam and start up Jailbreak.
Most appreciated man, hit me up on Steam if you need any help.
Haha! We really worked hard to make sure everything would work well on a range of systems, lots of scaling, LODS and optimisation :D Glad it's paid off!
Hahaha! Wish I could've quoted THAT in the trailer!
Just to let everyone know, that right now, there's 40 servers up and just over 120 people playing :D
Don't forget to VOTE FOR US! :D
On time, and plenty of servers! I love it when a plan comes together :D
Hi Awesome Ninja,
Can you give me some more details on how you've got your server setup? Is it running SRCDS from a command line, or are you using the Source Dedicated Server from within Steam?
If you're using SRCDS from a command line, have you downloaded the Orange Box base using SRCDS? If so, have you moved the folder HL2, into the root directory of orangebox? So it's next to Jailbreak? This is a very important step.
Other things to check are the existance of the Valve.rc file inside the CFG folder.
The pump shotgun has been replaced with an Automatic Shotgun :D
Just sayin'... Those with Desura installed... Worth a look see ;)
Yes you can :)
If anybody has a server they'd like to setup as a Jailbreak Server before release, feel free to contact me via PM on ModDB, and I'll help out however I can.
Haha! We just made the front page of GameTrailers!
Check our Twitter to see how "VERY" :D Twitter.com
The cool kids call it inspiration. Me? I just borrowed the idea :D
That's the Medigun, every player carries one and it allows you to heal up team mates.
Since 1976 baby! Hehe! In all honesty, since we began developing back in 2007... I didnt want to use it until Jailbreak was good enough for the song :D
I'm kicking buddy! I'm kicking as hard as I can!
I shall make sure to kick my own *** for you ;)
All you will need to play Jailbreak is the Source SDK Base - Orange Box.
Haha! Yeah I kinda rounded up! Close though, maybe 99.2% ;)
Haha! It's Thin Lizzy - Jailbreak :D I can't wait to release the mod to you guys, so excited!
Thanks to INtense I've added a countdown timer to the news post now, so you know exactly when it starts!
The first game will start at 14:30pm EST, and the second game will take place at 7:30pm EST. This will be the same for each day.
Very, very soon. In fact, the moment our coder Dogmeat fixes the last few bugs then we can release. So... everyone join me in staring at him until he gets on with it!
Yes, true. But it's not necessarily free to redistribute packaged as a campaign for another game. The people playing your campaign, may not OWN Half-Life 2 Deathmatch. I know Valve have blurry lines on these things, but the mapping community tends to see it a very different way. Correct me if I'm wrong... but be wary is all I'm saying.
Sorry to throw a downer here, but the video preview shows... well... a decompiled version of DM_Lockdown from HL2DM. Is that intentional? I'm staying neutral here and not judging, as it doesn't appear that the rest of your map pictures are decompiles...
It's incorporated into the new mode, the ball itself is now the release button, when you remove it from the goal it unlocks the jail and lets your team mates out :D
Congratulations guys, you really deserve this! :D
You can extract the GCF files using GCFScape, then modify them... Alternatively, you can simply create custom files and place them in the appropriate directory (e.g. a replacement player model), and it overrides the ones inside the GCF file. So it's actually just as easy as it was before!
As for old versions, you can just down the old versions from whatever file site has them, and install them alongside the Steam versions in the SourceMods directory.
Awesome stuff guys, looking forward to it :D
No worries buddy... Check your private messages when you get a sec.
Good to hear it buddy! I'll look forward to the updated version :D No need for apologies, just trying to help and make sure it's all factual!
Nice video guys! Interesting stuff!
It's a barrier to me, and I do want to play the mod. Even banged on about it in the Modcast this week. I don't want to be forced into registering, bombarded with ads, and forced into a fake queue for up to an hour, only to get artificially capped download speeds.
I know what you're saying "I waited 20 minutes"... but principally, i'd rather wait 24 hours and get the whole thing in 20 minutes.
P.S. Not whining about ES devs, more about FilePlanet's "ways".
Shame. I really wanted to download this today, was looking forward to it immensely. I'll be waiting for the mirrors. I guess it doesn't harm ES in the end, as they've had a helluva lot of downloads, but I just disagree with forced signups and fake queues.
As I understand it, this will be on the front page later today along with a preview :D
Well, right now, the plan is dependent on us finding a modeller, which has proven difficult so far! If we can find a modeller, then we're intending to create unique weapons for both sides and not go down the route of MP5, M4, AK47 etc.
We are planning on a kind of Mad Max/Punk theme for the Rebel side, so weapons would be very hand-made looking, strapped together with gaffer tape and wood etc, and quite personalised with spikes, skulls and what not. For the Combine side, we want to create some futuristic style weapons, with chargers, plasma parts, and various visual elements like that.
