hehe :) Well, you have a point... We're starting the countdown now, as we are VERY close to releasing, but we've got some small elements to integrate still which could force the release to be up to two weeks later than we hope. We don't want to start an official countdown, then disappoint anyone by saying "sorry, two weeks longer!". Put it this way... We've got 8 maps to show off, and we may not show them all.

I an 100% on board with the release early and often process. I'm one of the developers for Jailbreak: Source (www.jailbreaksource.com), we started developing the mod 9 months ago, with just two of us, and are about to release our fourth version, still keeping to a small development team (4 now).
Each version we've released, we've doubled our player base, and assembled a community of amazingly friendly and helpful people.
The first version we released consisted of two maps, and the core gameplay. The second, four maps, tweaked core-gameplay, and two new weapons. The third, highly tweaked gameplay and a few new features. The fourth will have all new weapons (17 in total), four new maps, a new game mode, and LOADS of new features.
We really hope that the trend continues this time round, and again we double our player base.
And you definately wanna be careful using the M4A1 Pulse Rifle concept... Fox are evil.

Indeed we do... we've completely overhauled 0.3.1 almost from scratch with loads of new features and redeveloped old ones, so over the next few weeks we'll be releasing loads of media.
It's a shame about the servers not running 0.3.1 anymore, but then we just have to hope 0.4 has more of an impact!

Nah! Source can easily handle that much brush work without a problem... in fact they could probably detail it more, as long as its optimised well.

We've organised Game Night now, so that players can guarantee a full server two nights a week!
Game night takes place every Wednesday (from 7pm GMT) and Saturday night (from 9pm GMT). The next game night is on Saturday the 27th June... so come join us! The devs (all three of us!) are nearly always there, so its great opportunity to be involved in the community and find out news about the next release first hand.

Do a Google image search on System Shock 2... nothing like them. Besides these textures are all custom made by me and our other mapper Izanagi. There's only about 8 HL2 textures used, otherwise, its been Photoshop all the way, and again, nothing like SS2... damn good game that it is.
Well, right now, the plan is dependent on us finding a modeller, which has proven difficult so far! If we can find a modeller, then we're intending to create unique weapons for both sides and not go down the route of MP5, M4, AK47 etc.
We are planning on a kind of Mad Max/Punk theme for the Rebel side, so weapons would be very hand-made looking, strapped together with gaffer tape and wood etc, and quite personalised with spikes, skulls and what not. For the Combine side, we want to create some futuristic style weapons, with chargers, plasma parts, and various visual elements like that.
Yeah definately drop the polycount down... 2k is best for average comps.

Yes we will, again to move away from the HL2 style... so Metropolis will be revised to appear more "Neo-Tokyo" in appearance, whilst Abalos will be revised to look more like a London Underground station. Woodneck and Madesco won't change an awful lot, as I like the look and feel of these two, but there will certainly be some changes.

Indeed, we had several servers going yesterday, some with good pings, some with bad, two dedicated, but more than 6 players and they went down. Frustrating, but we hope as we release further versions and the popularity (hopefully) increases, people will be generous to us and send some more dedicated servers our way.
There are now three dedicated servers, with most playing taking place around 9pm UK time... most nights the servers fill to capacity!
