"Ermahgerd" seems to be a slang-ish spelling of "oh my God."

The funny thing about these two special cabins (aside from bathroom windows open to a public promenade!) was that, being late additions, they weren't labeled in the passenger plans. As a consequence, cross-channel passenger Frank Browne (booked in A-37, on the other side) had quite some difficulty finding his cabin. And yes, the A-36 we're seeing here was indeed occupied by none other than Thomas Andrews. He isn't mentioned in the recovered 1st class passenger list, but bedroom steward Henry S. Etches gave it out in the American Inquiry. His testimony can be read here: Titanicinquiry.org

(And yes, I know I already said the above in Facebook, but who cares.)

Just a thought: in the game, Tommy and Paulie appear, as friends and co-workers, closer to each other than either of them to Sam or Salieri, and towards the end Sam appears closer to Salieri than to Tom'n'Paulie.
This got my imagination running and I thought there might be two options to creatively reflect on this relationship between these characters by the choice of the cabins they'll be occupying in this mod. Tom'n'Paulie will obviously be occupying cabins B-57'n'59, but Sam could stand out of the trio by _not_ occupying the next immediately adjoinable B-63, but either B-61 (the non-adjoinable internal cabin just next to B-59) or B-56 (in the port Parlour Suite with Salieri, as the Don's immediate bodyguard or something similar).

This is, of course, just a featherweight idea of mine, but it's a fancy concept so I just thought I'd ask.

R.I.P. to those who died 100 years ago.

I take the chance to post some associated music here:

Nearer, My God, To Thee (the last piece heard from the lifeboats; two candidate versions, either or both of which might've been played):
Youtube.com ("Horbury," the tune that survivor Eva Hart hummed when she was asked to hum the version she had heard; also the default of the dominating Church of England)
Hamienet.com ("Propior Deo," Wallace Hartley's 'personal default' as a Methodist along with cellist John Woodward, also likely to be mistaken for "Bethany," thereby possibly explaining the non-British 'earwitnesses' of the hymn)

Songe d'Automne (the waltz heard by Harold Bride heard from close by during the final plunge and some time prior to that; also indicated by George Rheims):

(Btw, any updates coming today?)

Nice one, though George Behe's research casts doubt on two of those (well, sort of - he doesn't maintain that NMGTT was the _last_ piece to be played, just that it _was_ played):

National Geographic apparently decided to show Cameron's revised sinking simulation in advance: Youtube.com

...and, although I've already metioned some of the reasons why calling it "The Final Word" is rather pompous, it's nonetheless a rather neat simulation. It's nice to see that Cameron takes into account the port list, especially Chief Baker Joughin's "great lurch" that threw so many people in a bunch to that side.

I think the water should be flat calm, "as smooth as the surface of this table" as one survivor told in the US Senate Inquiry.

This would be approximately 2:00 a.m. when (according to the revised lifeboat sequence by Wormstedt, Fitch & Behe) collapsible C was in the process of being lowered. When it reached the water the forward well deck was completely under. Just minutes later QM Bright saw the forecastle going underwater when he was being lowered with collapsible D.

Both of course (among many others) described a palpable list to port (about 10 degrees, if Samuel Halpern is to be believed) at this point, but I suppose that's a classic technical difficulty.

Now that's quite a stateroom to behold! I recall survivor Emily Ryerson saying she occupied "one of those big cabins, aft on B deck, starboard side" which probably shared this one's design. She never told the numbers of the cabins occupied by her family, so this might've even been one of them. Who knows.

But still, talk about luxury! You've brought it alive with the uttermost dedication there is!

I'll throw in my own easter egg suggestion by using some historical research basis for it. Daniel Klistorner's careful analysis (2002) of survivor accounts indicates that Margaret "Maggie" Brown (AKA as "Molly" after her death) occupied cabin E23, contrary to the conventional assumption that that her cabin was somewhere on B deck.
Encyclopedia-titanica.org

My easter egg suggestion is that, if the player chooses to punch the door of cabin E23, one could hear Mrs. Brown's voice responding "Don't start with me, or I'll pitch you overboard!" or something to that effect. A fine homage to the character that would be!

Another possibility would be the discussion between J.B.Ismay and Captain Smith (which took place in April the 13th) overheard by Elizabeth Lines in the Reception Room, portside on the D deck. This time, though, the actual lines should be kept instead of the not-so accurate (and IMO a bit biased) version in the 1997 movie.
Titanicinquiry.org

...except, of course, that Ismay's line "We will beat the Olympic and we will get into New York on Tuesday" should have "Empire Bay" as the destination.

I recently bumped into two cases of photographs of Titanic's older sister Olympic being accidentally (and yet, very often) labeled as the Titanic - which may or may not count as nitpicking, but since your summary of this mod begins with the words "one of the most detailed and accurate free 3D recreations of the titanic ever made" I guess it might be worth it after all.

The first one (that I was able to track thanks to the description given by Paul Lee in his lengthy list of inaccuracies he has found from the 1997 movie) is the Titanic's palm court, of which, in reality, only one photograph exists (from the starboard side), and it shows some subtle differences from the one on the Olympic (where all the other photos were taken). Here you go: Aftitanic.free.fr

The second is the central propeller, of which, in the case of the Titanic, no photographs exist at all (yes - they're all actually Olympic's) and, due to the stern section's rotating movement on it's way to the bottom, that part of the wreck is buried in the seabed. Incidentally, the commonly assumed 4-bladed design of her centre propeller's has been questioned from the basis of documents from Harland & Wolff itself: Encyclopedia-titanica.org

I've recently taken some look into the labyrinth-ish geography of some of Titanic's decks (mostly F, E and D) as well as their flooding dynamics and I wonder if you have planned any action scenarios to the said area? A nice opportunity for some wonderful chase sequences there.

Also, if Sam, Tom and Paulie get the opportunity to board any one (or several) of the lifeboats, which boat(s) would they be?

I obviously have some ideas in my mind already, but this is after all your mod and I'd love to hear your thoughts on the issue first.

PPS: btw, you managed to beat the 1997 movie's set for the smoking room in terms of accuracy, since it lacked the curved sofas we see here and also had an inaccurate carpetting.

Well there may be only a few people watching this mod but at least we few do it pretty ardently.

Not only is Mafia: The City of Lost Heaven my favorite game so far, but I also have an ardent interest in history - and when I first came across this approaching opportunity to observe the most famous ship of all time in the frames of my very favorite game of all time, it was (and still is) impossible to get out of my head.

So it goes pretty much without saying that I check this page just about every day to see if any updates have been done.

Technical reasons obviously come as no surprise (at this point, anyway :)) but I think it'd be "appropriate" to dedicate some dialogue for explaining that away, since, ahem...I think most Titanic history buffs wouldn't love the Cameron's depiction of vague class restrictions being replicated much.

Speaking about the breakup, several survivors witnessed the forward expansion joint tear itself open as the boat deck "took a bit of a dive." I think something similar must've happened to the aft joint as the ship's bending moment started accumulating towards the breakup. Confusingly enough, a mathematical study (2008) by Jamestown Marine Services indicates that the Titanic lost its longitudinal stability at an angle as low as 10 degrees, and that the bending moment, by then, was nonetheless a one-seventh greater than in any unflooded condition the vessel could've ever encountered in ordinary service (including the condition of reaching the _same_ angle on a large wave).

In short: the real Titanic broke up at a not-so-spectacular angle, but it was still an outperformance considering what it was designed for. Not bad, Harland & Wolff. Not bad at all. *applauds*

This is probably nitpicking but we might be working on the assumption that Salieri has good relations with the captain and the crew, since the latter will (presumably) allow his men to explore the ship throughout despite the fact that the majority of the other passengers were strictly isolated in their respective class areas.

Sam here is standing right in the engineer's promenade, which pretty much puts one's imagination running: just imagine him standing right on the aft expansion joint just when the ship loses its longitudinal stability...priceless. :D

Some further self-corrections while waiting: apparently the port list started earlier and increased slower than I first imagined; I just recently read chief baker Joughin's testimony and he recalled the list being about as great as that described by Woolner when he [Joughin] helped loading lifeboat No. 10, which, according to Bill Wormstedt's analysis, was lowered at 1:50 a.m., just 20 to 30 minutes after the original list to starboard was still noticeable.

Also, I found something strange: according to 17-year-old Jack Thayer, (as well as Archibald Gracie, Eugene Daly and William Mellors, to some parallel), who found the port list so intimidating he thought Titanic was going to capsize, remarked that the ship temporarily _returned to an even keel_ just when collapsible B was floating over the side of the deck (in fact, Harold Bride's testimony indicates it was this sudden rocking that capsized the collapsible, as he was in it when it happened). After that the port list returned as the forward boat deck "took a bit of a dive" (Lightoller's words).

Incidentally, your sinking image with the finished exterior looks like an almost exact recreation of this momentary return to an even keel. :)

No progress for 2 weeks now...I hope you continue updating the plans picture with respect to what's next on the list.

Oh, and just to correct some details, I said earlier that Lightoller left the portside D deck portholes open. I actually meant gangway doors (to help in the loading of lifeboat No. 6 but eventually weren't used for that and were just forgotten open). I'm also not sure if the starboard corridor on E deck had a door at its fore-end or not (what do the plans say?).
