It has begun! ☃
I remember a friend once cleverly built a "daylight detector" involving a villager NPC that would run inside a building at night and activate a button to turn on lights for a town. (As villagers go indoors at night time.)
There's only three things I miss:
The old world generation code (the new structures are cool, but the old cliffs and stuff are what I miss).
Snow worlds (where it snowed all the time).
The lack of hunger meters.
Otherwise, I think the updates are great.
I believe it's concept art.
Anyone volunteered for this yet?
Steve has been a man in the days when he would beautifully say...
Sadly it is now..."K-CRACK"
Even if this game flops, I don't think it will be the end of the Elder Scrolls at all. Hopefully, Bethesda Softworks will continue going strong with their old-fashioned Elder Scrolls formula after this.
This is now my computer background.
I may be far off, but maybe it's some kind barbwire that hurts you when you touch it.
Are you that layer glitch guy? Or do you happen to have the same name as him?
So the player finally grew a left hand? ;)
I'd say it's the tail size, wolves have bigger tails, no?
And of course get rid of the sheep wool it has. :\ Perhaps it's camouflage to blend in with unsuspecting sheep...
Wow. It looks brilliant...I love the art style.
Old comic. But still good!
Is that concept art or an in-game image?
You can kick monsters? Cool!
Nice and simple. Good job!
Well remember, you can't really see the handle when your hand is there.
I was once working on this map and decided to stop making it, but now i'm rebuilding it.
At first I didn't like this tank, but now that I look at it, it's really cool.
One interesting to note is that the whole structure is actually shaped and formed to the way the land is shaped; so rather than the generator spawning some brick and square building that looks out of place, the whole thing blends in rather nicely.
I don't see spikes, actually looks like a metal gate.
You need to download and use this patcher: Minecraftforum.net
I'm sorry you have to but it appears to be the only way;
the patcher is very simple though, just download, run, and click the patch button.
Must've eaten glowstone or something...
Reminds me of a spell really, I'd like to see spells such as spawning boats for when they break or summoning minions, could open up a lot of gameplay possibilities.
We oughta try this again.
Anyone downloading this now...try the new version: Moddb.com
Shadows cast from the sun? Or something else?
I also see that torches cast orange tinted light now.
That'd be great if the piston could shove water/lava so that I could create spouts of lava or something.
When your first showed me this I didn't go much into detail.
As said before I really like the concept, your ideas sounded great.
Also, about the purple, it should be a deeper tone as right now it looks pink. The color purple is good because it's a mysterious color and emphasis of it displays that.
Exploding beds seems like easy-to-get TNT to me. (If you want to blow things up in the Nether that is.)
He may upload footage of his slaughter in a few days, as of now, all this happened tonight. :)
Sorry about some typos and disorganization of some slides.
Do I see a creeper far back in the trees or do my eyes deceive me?
(Horizontally, near middle on left side; vertically, near middle on upper side.)
News everyone, a guy accidentally burnt down the whole mansion and spawn, along with creations beside it, so I guess Ze decided to start a new level. ( I was there, the place was a wasteland!)
Wait, just spotted one.
No trees? :O
No, but at times Ze, Gassy, and Danz will log on.
Also, logged on today, and surprisingly, the fort wasn't griefed, I only found two glass blocks broken (someone wanted to get in). Also found that a whole city rose up right nearby overnight.
Might wanna update the information bit for every other page besides the summary one.
"Minecraft is a first-person fighter/sandbox construction game created by Markus Persson, and is currently in pre-release alpha."
Not alpha anymore, now beta. Surprising no one has noticed.
A Minecraft update came out, and the server stopped working for about 1-3 weeks, by the time we could get it back, the host decided to just start fresh as people were bored with the old server.
I did put a lot of work into it though, the bridge went on for about 1000-2000 blocks to another incomplete tower I built. (Building those arches on the bridge was a pain because it was about 80 blocks high in the air and I had no fly mod.)
Under the primary tower though, was a huge mine, I dug it out like a rectangle, about 20 blocks in width, and I dug it out so deep that even on the furthest fog setting, you couldn't see the other end.
Another person also created a large tower that loomed in the distance that could be seen from the peak of my tower, he then gave up on that, and built a massive city wall, but never finished the city because the server went down.
In the end all the building took me about 1-4 weeks with about 3 hours a day put into the game, I might be overestimating or underestimating, don't really know.
Sounds excellent, I really like it!
I believe the achievement states that you must be in a minecart for 1km from where you started, so that means a continuous track.
Just actually tried this trick again...didn't work this time. Don't know why.
No I didn't actually, found it by browsing the MC forums.
This doesn't actually prevent you from real attacks, only attacks that are triggered when your bed isn't protected enough, this trick lets you sleep through the night without a random zombie trying to maul you to death.
Everything is the Steampunk texture pack, but I replaced the grass, stone, dirt, leaves, etc. with the John Smith texture pack.
Zombie pigmen from lighting strikes? Wow, creepy...
I'd like to see in the future what it does to things such as zombies and...creepers, if it is to be implemented.
Looks great, the tower is certainly an interesting design.
Isn't it a level generating mod that makes landscapes like this? Or is this something different here?
You should see what I've got so far too. :)
I have it, and it re-textures all terrain, sun, moon, inventory, etc.
This is a gif. Be sure to use (view original) to see it.
You do pixel noire very well.
Hi! This demo was very cool, I really liked it. I have a few small things I'd like to address and suggest though.
I understand the game is not complete but I'd like to help with my critique in any way I can. :)
-I like the theme. It feels like a modern Bioshock with a bit of sci-fi.
-The player can double-jump.
-The cutscene in the beginning is unskipable. It isn't long, but with repeat playthroughs it feels a little tedious to watch.
-The decontamination chamber is nice, but lacking detail. I also feel like the grates on the side of the room are too big. Perhaps replace them with a detailed model?
-The containers in that desert ravine had a cubemap reflection that was very strong, the containers probably need more of a texture.
-I was able to clip through one of the rocks in the desert ravine and peak through it. There was a bed hiding back there. Mapper easter egg?
-The shanty-style tower in the ravine disintegrates when I touch it, which is awesome, but the physics on it were really slow(?)(It fell apart like it was in slow-motion).
-I think I saw a city in the fog beyond the end of the ravine, but it appeared really small, like each skyscraper was only a few feet wide. Perhaps scale it up and move it a bit further away? I understand that the fog would hide it, but maybe a few visible big buildings would look better than a bunch of tiny buildings?
That sand is beautiful.
Ack, I'm using 32-bit Windows XP. Another reason to upgrade I suppose.
I like the colors you chose for the sky.
Is this 64-bit?
It looks like it turned out very well.
It looks even better.
This is the most detailed character editor in a TES game so far.
I got 178,359.
Awesome dude! I'll check these games out in a short while.
I like it, but there's four things I think could be changed for the better. :)
1) There's a shadow below only the far left square, I understand you did that likely because it's the only thing that isn't a social media icon. You may want to make it stand out in some other way - as I thought it was an icon meant to link to an alternative website or something of the sort.
Right now it looks like another social media icon, but the shadow makes it look strange. Maybe put the image in the background instead?
2) The YouTube icon looks a little funny being the only one without a visible rounded square behind it - perhaps you can put a faint gray square behind the YouTube logo (so it matches up with the other social media icons). As an alternative maybe you can put some kinda of darkened shadow or all gray background behind the whole center area, so that all icons stand out a little more on the white background, and along with that, the YouTube logo could have a white rounded square behind it. That square would stand out with a darkened background.
3) Altogether the icons don't look centered under your name. It looks like they're all shifting to the right a bit.
4) The font you used is nice, but you should probably use a standard font for your email and title, the name font can probably stay the same.
This is all simply my advice. At first glance I like the website's simple and easy-to-navigate look - add my advice and that'll hopefully make things even better. :)
Zombies can call other zombies when they are hurt, and apparently they will walk up to each other and "talk" like villagers.
This comment has been posted in a private group.
Excellent, it's very nice. It also looks like a bench I once had.
There is no 'ugly' for concept art.
I like your artstyle.
As for the lights, maybe you should try using less of them, and add a larger radius to each - then soften it.
GIMP 2.0 should be able to open PSD files, can it not?
Even if you can't, just follow the guidelines and you should be fine; just make sure you pay close attention to the measurements.
That was awesome.
To point it out: it's visible in the bottom-left corner of the image.
Looks like a En.wikipedia.org
3D nose on the snowman?
Brilliant art. It's a shame many of your concept artists left the team though. Well, I hope your game still does well!
The nether reactor seems to be an alternative to the nether portal.
Remember to use the (view original) links to see larger resolution pictures.
I'll look into this software.
Looks like he got hit in the shield to me.
Perhaps sneak some pipes in there, and small support beams of a sort. Small debree on the ground, like a small can or cardboard box or two.
It also looks a tad repetitious, try putting a door, or odd architectural features in there to break it up? (Odd architectural features like a raised roof in some areas, or some walling from another room jutting into the hall.)
But, if you're trying to keep it simplistic, perhaps stick in a secondary light source, like an odd blue light down the hall, or maybe one coming in diagonally through the roof from a shaft that leads outside.
It's really looking great so far though.
Sorry, I didn't specify.
I was thinking about the orange sky area, perhaps it could use some kind of artistic background, like clouds, or some kind of horizon?
Do you guys plan on implementing some kind background in the scene for aesthetics?
The game is so hard that even ghost trains kill you.
I always love the joke image you put at the end.
Ha, I think I see someone I know in this picture.
Ya that was a terrible pun.
Is that really unintentional? It looks...cool.
Anyone else looking forward to seeing what the rest of the races look like, like the orcs, argonians, and khajiits?
It's nice, but I think the coloring is a bit too "festive" and bright.
Forgot to mention, I accidentally messed up the diamond texture, so the redstone looks like diamond, and I don't know what the diamond actually looks like. Sorry. :/
I'd like to continue uploading videos, but I don't want to flood anyone's update page.
So up-vote this comment if you want me to upload Youtube videos every 3 days or so, or down-vote if I shouldn't upload such videos anymore.
Or, comment if I should upload less often or more often.
I recognize this guy...I love it.
The art is very simple and clean, almost like a propaganda poster.
The video description reads that a mod was used:
"#I used 'AutoCart' for limitless speed. MOD DOES NOT WORK ANYMORE"
Powered minecarts would unfortunately run out of fuel before long. :(
The guy claims to have built this by hand. He did use a mod to make the cart move automatically though.
Nevermind...MCEdit just crashed. :/ I may need someones help to do this. D:
Fascinating, I like the idea...tracking now.
I personally don't like the cartoonish look of the game.
You should post your work here: Moddb.com
If you want feedback and criticism.
It's a structure built with wool in Minecraft (texture pack enabled). After, a screen capture is made of it, it is then edited to appear like so.
Slowly making progress...
YES. Very good!
It looks realistic and smooth.
The link to the website doesn't appear to be working.
This particular image was an incident from messing with the cam controls in the latest snapshot. I then simply turned up the brightness/contrast and added lighting with GIMP.
It's a WIP, gonna work on upgrading it to 1.0.2 when it comes out though.
This is the same dragon I tried blowing up with all that TNT.
Kind of...sad. :'(
I should make a desktop background out of this. >:)
If anyone has good animal ideas, recommend it here, then I may attempt to make them.
Nope, dunno know how to make a mod.
Hmmm, what might it say?
The gray ones are the flashing ones that appear when you're healing; hurt yourself on peaceful mode and you'll see these hearts appear.
The most I managed to do was get an error screen that popped-up and re-appear over and over no matter how much you closed it. :)
Very nice, I see warriors battling in a thick fog/mist.
He most likely used a program such as MCEdit, which, even with that, would've taken a long time to make the whole city.
The short trees are great, now there should be some BSP trunks of the large trees that extend to the upper canopy to give the feel of a thick forest. The canopy, although difficult, is possible, but it may not be conventional. ;)
Is this what I think it is?
Got any plans? ;)
A video game where you build your own "games" is very difficult to show off to a video game building community. :)
Gravity settings seen here...something largely absent from LBP1.
Unfortunately no. :(
Hint: This game is a PS3 exclusive.
So who here is excited for the game?
The tree's leaves are the best part!
It's still amazing.
If you could, I think you should remove the duct tape (or make it look like metal) and make the wood look like it's extremely old. (Like it's rotting off and you can see the metal wires inside that hold it together.)
It looks awesome.
Wait, does the terrain put there like that really work? I'm supposed to know this.
Wow! I love it! I don't remember seeing that before.
That's a place a Ninja could hide in!
Very nice, detail could be added to the eye area of the mask though.
Is that real? Awesome! By the way...were did you get your avatar anyways?
Lol! That's hilarious.
This looks great, but I feel that something is missing.
Here's an earlier picture without the skybox change.
I'm designing the city to be suitable for multiplayer, and no, the helicopter is not part of the texture of the skybox, is that what you meant?
For the longest time this pictures been bugging me because something seemed wrong with it, and finally I figured it out! The sky is to gray, it doesn't match up with the sun or grass.
Looks fantastic! Great work.
Was this made in Paint? Microsoft Paint seems to be the only program that Brent ever uses.
Sweet, I like the action feel.
It seems a little to dark for me.
Looks like he's wearing socks with a boot design on it.
It's like that picture of snow and water that was posted up on Crimson Crow, nobody seemed to notice what was so important about it.
For such a simple environment, I think the handrails are to complex.
What gun is that? Looks sweet.
That's low poly? Good job!
It's like a professional book! Sweet.
Do those screens act like cameras? Can you see other players in the map on the screens?
Great job! But it seems a little to fuzzy, and I suggest making the line thinner in the middle so you can see what you're shooting.
I find it hard to make things since I can only place cubes. Isn't there a way to make cylinders and spheres?
They didn't have red dot sights in World War II, did they?
Isn't this your first weapon model? Way better than my modeling.
I think the bottom one is a photo.
I didn't realize the mechs were so big. Good job on the map.
Actually, that isn't quite how the infection works, this is just an idea.
You put the steps left to right, so it kinda confused me. But good job.
Great! But it seems a little too organized and neat, doesn't it?
I'm not sure if I've heard any songs like this before, the beginning part kinda sounds like it would be in Mirrors Edge though. Good job.
So...in this game, you can fly anywhere in the whole world?
Cool, but it is really dark and hard to see anything.
Don't forget the infested, I'm not sure how common those are on your street.
I like the interior of the vehicle the most. The race course is great too!
It's the CIA! Supermarket!
Done! I made the windows light beams shorter.
It's baked in shadows, these kind of shadows can provide higher in-game performance for computers.
Hey, there's the giant lamp I made, the roof is low, but it's a little of both.
We didn't use bloom, just a few neat lighting effects.
That is a big mech. Sweet.
That car is a BSP shape I made in Torque Constructor. (Modeling system for Torque Game Engines.)
Hey, I don't remember adding that there.
