<Another unit being worked on slowly is a new Anti-Tank (tank hunter) vehicle for the Russian faction -- this would feature the 9M123 Khrizantema anti-tank missile system. The addition of a new dedicated tank hunting vehicle for Russian side should help further balance the game.>
- is excited >:3
I'm having trouble trying to recall the last time I was this excited by an upcoming game.
Bit sad that the people on the FAF team have worked around the clock for a *very* long time to bring us what looks like an amazing addition to the mod (that AMX 10RC is incredible), and most of the comments here are a repetition of these ridiculous French jokes that seem to pop up every time a Frenchman in uniform is mentioned.
Free French troops, Resistance fighters, the 13e DBLE at Bir Hakeim. Jokes are fine and all, but you hardly ever hear of the many Frenchmen who fought and died during the war without a single mention of surrender or white flags.
(this looks like a VAB)
(this also looks like the French, and I don't think I'll need anything more from the shooter genre any more)
Looks like the M110 SASS to me (?)
ALPHA FUNDIIIING D:<
I've dug into my really shallow pockets and dragged out what cash I have. To be honest, the alpha access is irrelevant. I just want you to have my money because this is the single most exciting indie project I've seen around here for a long, long time.
Equip some as default on mission infantry (i.e. some claymores in a squad). Sending dedicated troops up or troops back to fetch mines is a pain, but if squads carry a few claymores as default, people might well start using them a bit more. Same applies to the NVA/Vietcong with their grenade traps and Soviet AP mines.
Half Japanese, half French, live in Tokyo, school in England.
My great grandfather was a Zouave during the First World War.
I look forward to playing this mod.
Red berets looks like Metro paras of some sort. But those rifles, judging by colour, look like bolt action MAS 36s; if they're French troops, shouldn't they be using semi-automatic MAS 49s?
Nice camo on that M24.
That said, if you want to replace the M24 with something more Japanese, I'd recommend a Howa Type 64 with a scope or something along those lines (which, I'd presume, is a lot more common in the JGSDF as a DMR). Since the PLA pretty much use the QBU-88 at that level (the JS 7.62 isn't in wide service), and since the US are phasing in the M110 Semi Automatic Sniper Rifle, there'd be no balancing issues so long as the correct weapons are added for the other teams as well.
The muzzle device on that Minebea is a little long. Otherwise, I like.
Here's the 9mm Pistol (P220) in JGSDF service, which (presumably) you were trying to replicate.
OH-1 isn't a dedicated attack helicopter, it's a recon helicopter. You're looking for either the AH-64J or AH-1S.
Ooh, I have an idea!
Could you possibly make the colour pallet a little darker and try to subdue the atmosphere? From what I see, MoW Vietnam is simply trying to capture the combat; this mod might be able to do better by exploring the grittier, less glamorous sides of the Vietnam War.
Just an idea. Otherwise, I really, really like the detail on the models produced so far; looking forward to this.
:-/
Only Rangers were issued the SCAR, and even that was simply for field trials. M4's probably the only real valid change that could be made, but since M4/M16 are both AR-15 derivatives, it's really not a change we should be clamouring for when this mod's aiming to (and very much succeeding at the moment) change WiC's basic gameplay altogether.
Merkava IV? Does that mean Israel's going to be a part of this?
Hey;
I haven't been here for over a year (exams, exams, exams...)
A while ago, I offered my help; if you ever need suggestions (i.e. information of any kind), do ask and I can do it.
Otherwise, looks good; I'll be looking forward to this.
And it's sad when project developers decide to alienate their fanbase with sardonic replies when all that's actually being offered is suggestions rather than directives; I have yet to understand the logic behind this.
Fallout is a canon-heavy game, with canon-heavy fans; evidently, that's something you refuse to understand.
But I said it myself, I'll say it again; you're the dev. What that ends up meaning is up to you.
So, for example, take the NCR as a whole (easier to stick to one example). Their vanilla trooper model looks underequipped; it has an old pattern helmet, and little to no pouches suggesting minimal equipment carried. They look like undersupplied garrison troops (which was most likely the aim).
But if you're having a war, then there will be reinforcements, no? So add a different NCR trooper model. Say this NCR trooper is a freshly recruited trooper who's part of a well-equipped force sent to reinforce the existing NCR presence in the area. Give him, say, a backpack (since this is an operational soldier as opposed to a garrison one), an automatic rifle of some kind (because the semi-automatic service rifle is evidently outdated), some magazine pouches on the body armour, other functional pouches (depends on what you think NCR troops need), some unit insignias. You could add some NCR body armour with a radio pack for the radiomen. You could give some NCR troops the new helmets on the new NCR trooper models you've shown. In units like 1st NCR Recon, get rid of the beret in the field. Give them, say, camouflaged helmets (i.e. webbing and foliage instead of camouflage patterns) and a large cloak over their uniform.
That's just the NCR. There're many factions out there; think about who they are, why they're there and what you can do with them. Making something completely different wouldn't fit with the Fallout experience. But if you improve and add to it, then you can use your talents to improve an already great game in a manner that feels right.
That said, you're the dev. Whatever you choose to do, I like the idea of this mod, and so you can be assured that this is something that I'll be watching with great interest and awe as you jump the hurdles on this ambitious path.
Modify the existing troops designs in Fallout 3 and New Vegas. Keep the NCR troopers with their wide-brimmed helmets and their patchy armour. Add unit insignias, grenade pouches, waters cans, the like, but don't just change everything until it becomes unrecognisable. Take the models you've already made and instead of labelling them as, say, NCR Troopers or Enclave Troopers, make them specialist units. For example, the NCR trooper screenshot you'e showed seems to suggest something less 'front-line' than the vanilla NCR soldiers, with long greatcoats instead of body armour and a less weathered (though more effective) Stahlhelm type helmet. Maybe you could make them an NCR elite or guard unit of some kind?
Basically, what I'm saying is that this has the opportunity to be a crowning achievement, not only as a mod but as a part of Fallout canon. The talent to make it happen is all here; all that needs to happen is to direct that talent into the right areas.
This looks great. However, I have a suggestion.
Fallout is particularly interesting because of its canon; the Brotherhood of Steel are technology lovers, the NCR are slightly poor and overstretched, the Enclave is a tyrannic force attempting to stand up as the 'rightful' government of the US, and Europe, though unknown, is shown to be as devastated as the US is by the Sino-American nuclear exchange.
All these models look incredible. No-one can say you didn't put work or imagination into them (I especially like the NCR trooper you've put up, being a fan of greatcoats). However, one of the things that makes Fallout unique is the canon, from the far-reaching political situation at hand to the actual appearance of the soldiers. Thus, instead of completely changing everything, my suggestion is this.
Hawker Typhoons, regardless of where they are or how historically accurate their inclusion is, will always draw a grin on my face, harking back to the days when my father engrossed me in planes (not that long ago, actually).
Am downloading; will enjoy.
Restricted to Single Player, unfortunately, but still enjoying the handful of new North Africa maps. Just spent ten minutes picking off Germans with the Lee Enfield. There's still something that makes FH2 the best WWII game around.
Can't wait for the Pacific Front... and FH2 getting to the top.
