You know it man, now we finally have professional tools at our disposal that are perfect for large scale projects such as this. Plus the Unreal community is big, friendly and very helpful.
And as Unreal supports networking, we can also implement multi-player and co-op :)
He is correct, the team and myself are now working on the spiritual successor to Wargame: 2073 as a standalone, unannounced cyberpunk-anime themed project set in a violent, post-apocalyptic galaxy utilizing a hybrid of TPS, RPG and RTT elements - running in Unreal Engine 4.
Once we have some decent gameplay to show off, we'll be officially announcing the new project. Until then Ill continue posting snippets of our progress here.

Thanks man. Regarding the mods status, Ill un-archive it once Ive got some ships ingame.
There is a storyline and rpg elements like unlocks, and almost every model is custom built. That aside, yes its primairly a combat mod.
Perhaps once weve released this mod we could add more rpg features, but unless there already in developement or completed, you wont be hearing about them.
3ds max is totally boss, plus its pretty much the industry standard. but, what ever your most experienced with will probs be best.
as they say, you can create something much better on unity if your highly experienced with unity, then something more powerful like cryengine if you only have beginner level experience with cryengine.
They are working on an ingame chat client, though Im unsure as to how long it will be until its released in the test build.

When you setup your server, you can choose the game type. MMO, deathmatch, the balls in your court when it comes to customization.
You will also be able to install mods. If you wish to play on a server with mods, you need to have the exact same mod data in your folder as everyone else. For anyone who has played fallout with mods, you will know how easy this is to do.

To keep things simple, it will be a leveled spawning system. These spawns will also attack bases and citys youve captured and your allies bases.
Likewise, your allies will also be randomly spawning at enemy bases. A message notifying you when your base, an enemy base or an allied base is under attack will appear on the players screen once the defenders start taking casulties, giving you a chance to join the battle.
This model will be for every faction an serves 2 purposes as noted in my comment above.

What you see here is Corehounds own mod, this content wont be in TJP because these are kitbashed armor pieces upscaled to look like mecha (but their operation is the same as mecha, the same principle). The image is just to give you an idea of what mecha combat will look like, the sense an scale of it, what can be achived.
Our mecha, will be custom made mecha models/textures (like all our own content), not just kitbased armor pieces (even though this kitbash in particular is awesome, mad props to corehound), working on the same principle. I call it a collaberation because I speak to corehound fairly often about mecha functionality an vehicles in general, giving eachother tips and stuff.
The enclave know the king runs freeside, and the king knows enclave 'deal' with those who oppose their rule. Its a give-take relationship.
When the mods released, It l just be one mod. Here were just testing stuff thus the multiple mods :)

The first release wont contain any custom star bases. The first goal is just to get the new ships in game and balanced.
Once thats done, custom starbases, custom ui and custom sounds will be Implemented, when this happens, there will also be new ships added.
I intend to release a beta of the first stage, with the majority of each races ships included. Once I get some feedback from that this project will move to stage 2 to be fully fleshed out (as mentioned above, starbases, ui, sounds etc).
The first time watching crest, I really didnt know what they were going on about, especially when they start the show off speaking in their own ABH language (which really threw me off ha) but after a while you get the hang of it, problem was coming across dubbs which were so poor would make you cringe like watching bruno.

Ive taken Screens of nearly every combat ship from pretty much every episode of crest, banner, banner 2, and every other movie/series which contained quality warships but many I cannot remember the name of. I might have to do a 'name this ship' event here.
Dominion if Ishitar, are mainly influenced by the Zendradi from macross, aswell as The warrior aliens from Detonator Orgun.
The Aphrodian Council are inspired by things like freemasonry, the new world order, and the world banks, aswell as the banking clans from startwars. Their art direction is influenced by the Legend of the Galactic Heroes series, the older Gundam movies aswell as Cowboy bebop, Outlawstar, Space Battleship Yamoto & Captin harlock.
Decendants of Mu are mainly influenced by the Mu race from rahxephon, various Final Fantasy elements, and a dash of Tenchi muyo. Need to keep these guys mysterious, so thats enough information for now...
Things change all the time, and not everything will be strictly cannon as this wouldnt allow space for origional creation, and that would be rather boring. So expect all your favorite ships, many origional ships and even some outright surprises.
The whole concept of spacetime bubbles really opened the door for fascinating tactical dynamics which the show really fleshed out, things like this were what really polarised me to the show. Plus the ship design was really intresting.

Vermillion, just seemed to feel right, when thinking of animewarfare whith a touch of class that space operas ushually contained, many names just felt a bit cheesy or over used, theres also hardly anything else on the market called Vermillion, besides the giant orange mech in rahxephon, and a squad tactic in the comic shrapnal.
Its actually a collection of anime all rolled into a hybrid 'allstars' space rts. Shows to watch to get an idea of what will be featured in this mod - Banner of the stars/Crest of the stars, Macross, Outlaw star, Detonator Orgun, Gundam, Project A-ko, Irresponsible Captain Taylor and Cowdoy Bebop to name a few :)

Mmm big stompy mechs. I like. Ive had this idea for a while, is there a way to pool all the mech 3d models out there for this group, that way, if you want some mechs for a mod, you jus grab them from here, same if you want to donate your mech models. Maby even add some mech animation tutorials, rigging tutorials, parent & child bone tutorials etc. Thoughts?

Download an app like blender or wings 3d (both free) and become competent at modeling by watching blender video tutorials (im shure theres wings 3d video tutorials aswell), join some modeling forums like blenderunderground.com then once you can make decent models (no rats nests, unassigned verticies) then offer your skills to a mod team and go from there.
Ohh yes. You can spawn ships from other ships. Example, whitebase can spawn gundams, the gundams wont have moving parts but they will be classed as a ship as they are bigger and much more powerful then fighters. Mother ships can spawn frigates, similar to the motherships from homeworld 2. SDF1 can spawn valkyries, titans can spawn battleships and so on.
Yep, gundam, new and old, will be featured in Aphrodias unit list. It works well as Aphrodia are a mish mash of armed firms, pmc's, pirates and mercs. Hopefully everything from mobile armor in gundum 00 to whitebase will be included.

Yeah man, after sniffing around fallout3nexus.com for tools to make my own f3 mods, I discovered the excellent blender.
The fact that its free! and the ui is so easy to navigate makes it a complete winner for me.
I loved the whole banner/crest of the stars series as well, and I'm really surprised something like this hasn't been done yet. Vermillion is currently in development for entrenchment, and possibly the diplomatic dlc.
