Since 2004 I've taught myself, and others, in just about every discipline the Source engine offers.
Saying "I know this isn't allowed" does not make something allowable. Ethically or legally.
You can get Fallout 2 from GOG for a measly $6. Gog.com
This is clearly a very well-made mod, but never manages to get past the proof-of-concept stage: it works, but it's not yet fun.
There's a gamemode in Garry's Mod that pits players in a marble madness-style race to the finish line. That's a very different goal to the one you're pursuing here, but it would be a much better use of the tech you've put together...
My only real complaint is the collision sounds of the marbles. Generic plastic? Get some chinking glass in there! :-)
Something is missing, but I can't quite put my finger on what.
I like the glowing structure in the middle, but not seeing that amount of HUD data in a fast-paced FPS game...
This looks really dull and muddy. You need to brighten the sunlight colour, or else use whiter materials.
Yes, please spend time reinventing the wheel and reducing your chances of success.
That's an admirably good trailer. Fingers crossed it's not another Doom 3 in the making...
Erm, it uses Ep2 content /all the time/. The whole mod apes the Ep2 industrial style from start to finish.
The swamp was exceedingly good. After that the mod becomes very generic, but it's worth downloading for the first third alone!
He's not trying to hawk it as a new idea, you know.
Shame this was archived. There's a really good discussion of Carmack's modding comments going on at Rockpapershotgun.com right now.
Try playing them all at the same time. :P
I liked it, but that only be because I played it in very short bursts. It would be easy to got fatigued at the constant corridors and lack of plot, but as it happened I managed to avoid that and could simply enjoy the great atmosphere. :-)
Yeah, that one's the clear winner. At first I thought the fences were shiny bulletproof glass, which would have been even cooler! :)
Nanobot war inside the body of a dying man.
Erm, "Meet the Spartans"?
You can get random outputs with logic_case already. Developer.valvesoftware.com Plenty of worthwhile improvements otherwise! :-)
That colour is NOT BROWN, everyone! I repeat! NOT BROWN!
Transition to the *Ep1* branch? That was obsoleted two years ago!
Wow, I only just spotted the disembodied arm lying on the table!
It hasn't died. The profile has been archived because it isn't ready to appear on the site yet.
Lol, that screenshot is a map for TF2! Mrmof.com
To correct spelling, or not to correct spelling. That is the question.
I hope that's a clever pun and not an awful spelling mistake. ;-)
With everything facing the camera directly like that, it kind of looks like a side-scroller. :-P
Open the console and type "ent_fire ui deactivate".
I don't like the effect in-context either. /Maybe/ it would work if the bump map texture was dynamic, changing as the character animated, but it isn't. They end up looking instead like someone's poured glue into their washing machine. ;-)
The character bump maps are way over the top (but the sand one looks great). Subtlety is how you do it: Moddb.com
The L4D Authoring Tools aren't called an SDK for this very reason.
