I don't regret the $10 at all.

Keep in mind it is a little incomplete, but the developer is working his tail off to improve this baby.

Description

First off, this bit of concept art is awesome in more ways then one.

Anyhow, this past Easter my mother gave me a few bucks on my Steam wallet, and it was just enough to buy this cheap indie game. (It was only $10)

The game itself is designed to be a RTS and TPS hybrid set in an alternate American Civil War featuring units brought from the year 2060 to aid the Confederates (and the Yanks) for the last year of the war. Common Riflemen and Calvary fight alongside Tanks, Zeppelins, and man-portable Gatling guns in a brand new form of war.

The concept and style of this game is amazing. The steampunk feeling fits incredibly well in the Civil War time frame, a refreshing game to stand out amoungst the dirty and dusty FPSs clouding the market currently.

However, the game play is a little buggy. In it's current state, the RTS controls are a bit awkward, and your units don't like to open fire on the enemy and instead will try and give them a hug. The TPS game play is a little better off, though it'll take a few minutes to get used to the unit controls.

There are currently 2 game modes; Death Match and Army Skirmish. Army Skirmish is a typical RTS game match with pre-built armies and a slugging out to the death. You can, at any time, gain direct control of individual units and play TPS while your army carries out orders. Army Skirmish supports 4 players currently (2 per team, IE 2 Rebs and 2 Yanks).

Deathmatch is where the true fun is. While it lacks the RTS element (your restricted to TPS) the huge maps and 64-man support is a heap of fun.

In terms of graphics, this is no Battlefield 3, but it looks decent enough for a $10 game.

Keep in mind that this game was developed by a single man, and the publishing company (Paradox Interactive) rushed the game out before it could be finished. Though it may seem buggy now, the game developer (a man by the name of Dan) is providing weekly patches and updates to turn this indie experiment into a true, fun as Hell game.
