The progress video looks very promising. I especially enjoyed what you'd shown about the dead city level. Two thumbs up!
Thanks a lot.
Will this mod work with 'Episodes from Liberty City' as well?
That's good news. Rockstar wouldn't like it, though. :)
I couldn't find the answer to one question that bothers me: will this mod require a PSP/PS2 copy of the "Stories"?
Are Fenris and Isabela having a staring contest? :)
Sorry for the delay, I had some problems downloading the mod and needed to prepare for my high school finals.
As for the results on the Kung Fu 3.0:
No surprise here, but Software T&L was working correctly. The framerate issue was definitely there on the Hardware T&L setting. There were some smooth moments in the intro, though. E.g. it was alright after the camera passed through the wall (I believe I saw some frames dropping when the sun was shown directly). It went its normal annoyingly-low-FPS way when the camera turned left. Also, another shot that went smoothly was when the camera was panning horizontally the fighters at pretty much their level (vertically).
Any thoughts or further wishes based on that?
Thanks for reacting to the issue, Maddieman.
This info could be some of some use: I tested it just in case and... it all works perfectly smoothly when I switch to D3D Software T&L. Both the dojo level of TRW demo and the Katana intro that I mention later on.
As for your questions:
1) My RAM chips pretty much match the rest of my hardware. It's a set of two GeIL 1GB 800MHz Dual Channel DDR2 - nothing that the game should choke on.
2) Graphic settings: I normally run it on the highest (resolution: 1024x768 or 1280x1024) withhout any problems. As for The Real Worlds, I tried decreasing the quality. It didn't really help, though, or if it did, the increase in FPS wasn't noticeable.
3) Your other mods: I DID try Katana. It got some issues from time to time. E.g. during the opening the framerate dropped when a train was passing by in the background (two times, as I recall; each time the framerate dropped) and remained low-FPS for a few seconds during and after train's passing. Otherwise, the mod was running pretty smoothly. My dojo level problem could be only a matter of something in that room. If you want, I could run some test on my PC (like try a testing mod with several rooms, each with different properties and effects involved).
4) Mods made by others: I tried The Family. It work smoothly with the exception of the second chapter interior. There was a lot of glass windows around - could that be the problem? The issue was on the D3D Hardware T&L setting, though. I haven't tried it on Softare T&L.
Not Vista, not 7. Just WinXP SP3.
Has anyone else here experienced some serious framerate issues in the Kung Fu Demo? It's barely playable that way. I tried messing with graphics quality and it didn't help one bit. The only moment it gets noticably better is when i stand right next to the dojo wall, staring at it (I gain about 3 more frames per sec). My PC is pretty decent, so unless models in this mod are high-poly, I don't see a reason for this mod's poor performance. My specs (if it matters): Intel Core 2 Duo E4400 (2GHz, no overclocking), Asus P5B Deluxe, AMD/ATi Radeon HD4830 (the most likely responsible party).
