I'm a student in IT Carlow, Ireland studying computer systems. I play a lot of games and I'll be tossing my abominations onto moddb eventually, but for now I gotta get better at coding.

Ok, from this FAQ alone, my image of this game just went from 'Decent looking HL2 mod turned standalone game' to 'Game of the year 20XX'.

I was expecting HL2 style AI with minor changes to suit the new environment. I was expecting decent visuals, enough to look like STALKER with HL2's clean lines. I was expecting a short but sweet gaming experience.

Now I expect this to stand beside Half Life, STALKER, Silent Hill and Deus Ex as one of the hallmarks of gaming. For once in a long time, a game worth the $/€50 quid I'd expect to pay for a AAA+ game. And believe me, I think you should set that price. If you pull this off right, you've earned every cent.

Also... An update? FINALLY!!! :P

PS: sorry for yet another STALKER comparison, but we've only got Kalashnikova and architecture to go by so far on the visuals, so you can see why it's a common mention xD.

Gotta agree about the grenades. I understand you want to go for realism, and the destructive force of any fragmentation device would be felt for a good distance, but as a gameplay mechanic they may be a bit too powerful. Not much point in AI that take cover if they can't get out of the blast radius in time.

At the very least if explosives are rare (I'm talking maximum inventory of one, with rare drops) you can play it off as a 'trump card' only used in dire situations...

Got a crash report for you. Redux was the only mod installed.

Expression : fatal error
Function : CInifile::r_section
File : D:\ prog_repository\ sources\ trunk\ xrCore\ Xr_ini.cpp
Line : 502
Description : <no expression>
Arguments : Can't open section 'nil'. Please attach [*.ini_log] file to your bug report

Basically makes the game CTD on map load. Great mod otherwise xD

Ok... I'm just trying to get my head around this...

The game is set in Belfast, yet it's post nuke-apocalypse.

Is it a case that most of the UK is heavily irradiated, leading to the remnants of government consolidating their position in radiation-free Northern Ireland?(assuming the prevailing winds direct the fallout northeast rather than northwest)

Will the conflicts be Army remnants against IRA or Soviet opposition for the most part?

Will the RoI be involved in a military capacity? (Assuming the Dáil actually bothers to financially back it's own defense forces lol. The year 2010 and 1/3 (10 of 27 total) of our air corps are rotary engine planes!)

Loving the mod so far, but I've gotta ask... How can I mod it to sprint for longer? Sorry, but if I, personally, can run 40-50m at a good sprint with a large pack, how can trained military personnel only get about 5m before they have to stop for 2 minutes to catch their breath?

I admit the emissions are a true work of art, but they get tiring when it takes your character (carrying 15kg at the time) more than 5 minutes to drag themselves to a tunnel entrance that was already so close that the HD textures look pixelated. If you're carrying more than 30kg, you can forget about surviving as it takes that long in the first place to drop all the non-essentials.

I would bump the sprinting back to normal, but increase AI accuracy and make your character lose all energy immediately upon being hit. That would give you the ability to actually move more than a mile in the first hour of gameplay AND make sprinting around enemies an utterly stupid tactic.
I would also add a hotkey that dumps all your loot except equipped items and medkits. That way when the emission warning appears, you can just drop your pack and run!

Problem is, I have no idea how to get started on doing that. Any suggestions? xD

lol yeah. I have a few HDDs and a few more partitions. It's my little DIY solution to data loss. All the games go in one partition, media in another, OS on (C:), a small partition each for family members (As I could never get my head around Windows space quota management), extra hard disks for backups, etc, and a few portables that all seem to fill up too quickly. I also use WinCDEmu (CD mounting software), and with the portables plugging in randomly, and the software grabbing drive letters at random... you can see where this is going.

My computer looks like a sideways VCR in the late '90s with all the associated clutter ^^

Gonna build a new one soon with some TB drives, an SSD for the OS and I'll make the effort to organize RAID before I start installing my Steam Library lol. Maybe then my drive letters will get back in order.

There is teamwork, but it's more along the lines of counterstrike zombie mod teamwork than it is Neotokyo or L4D on the hardest modes. Teamplay happens out of necessity as it's nigh impossible to kill a fleshpound on your own (and they arrive in pairs). Just stick with the group, kill what you can. Or join a server on round 1 and skip all the catching up.

One more quick question...

Will the changes to reaction times / targeting distance from RCOM work in the older games (same engine...?). The ones you add to the .ltx?

I'm going to use faction fronts for AI improvements, but they still take an age to line up a shot and once you get your hands on a vintar, theres no longer any threat.

Decided I'd finally buy CS, but I want to find a mod or fix that improves the AI / weapons. Complete doesn't make any weapon changes I can see.

Considering you're MAKING the ideal mod, surely you'd be the one to ask about similar mods for the previous games as you no doubt went looking for them before starting on this lol.
