Ok, long story short:
No Beta for Christmas; sorry, we tried but we just couldn't make the deadline. Real life issues caught up with us, and while we could release what we've got, we don't want to do a repeat of the Alpha, which was REALLY buggy (and short). That said, I'm pushing for a Christmas weapons-pack release to tide you over till the Beta 3.0 release, which we are tentatively slating for Mid-January.

Hey, I just found out about this yesterday, and it looks amazing so please pardon my ignorance.

Questions:
Will this have single-player campaign and/or Solo vs AI?
Will it be released in hard-copy form or will it be digital download only?
I assume that it has online multi-player, so just how unplayable will it be with 56k internet?

Again, its the DLT-19, which is basically an MG-34 with blocks welded to the sides (seriously). About 99% of Star Wars weapons from the OT are old WW-2 Guns with blocks welded on to them.

"The DLT-19 was based on the real-world MG34 machine gun from Germany. The DLT has been painted solid black with added "rails" on the barrel shroud similar to the E-11 blaster."

That song reminds me of Marathon. Ahh, good times... It feels like its missing something though... Possibly a second guitar that would come in about half-way through and play on overlay? Just my 2 cents. ^_^

The Prologue Begins on Kamino 10 Years Before the Battle of geonosis, same as RC. Next mission is Geonosis, Zero Hour. Then you get some more missions, and eventually end up on Jabiim. We'll also throw in Kashyyyk (with PII armor). You can expect to see some GCW era levels to, including the Tantive IV.

Hockey just circulated the internal 2.9 Beta amongst the team. We're busy seeking out and smashing bugs. I'm thinking of uploading a vid of some of the more hilarious ones.

We could certainly integrate that into a map. Actually, that sort of reminds me of the 'Droid Trap' sequence on Geonosis, where you have to slay the fleeing Geonosin before he activates about 30 or so battledroids.

I'm afraid not. Suffice to say, it will be sooner than you expect yet later than you fear. (A cryptic, yet direct, response) Basically we'll release it when its done, which will hopefully be sometime before next year. Were I a betting man, I'd plan on a Christmas release.

I'd like to extend a huge helping of thanks to the community for responding so well to the new trailer! (Over 350 hits so far and counting!) You've bumped us up from the top 500 to the top 30. If I could send virtual beer to 'ya, I would.

Yeah, the orange is a bit bright. As for the markings, this guy isn't under Cody's command, he's just a random trooper with really bright orange markings. Actually, if I had to guess, he's supposed to look a bit like Boss. I'll ask Gamma about it.

Just two quick questions which have probably been asked before, but since I simply do not have the time to read through 2,513 posts plus however many there are on your forms I shall ask them (scoff at me if you must):

1. Why do you call the updates 'Weekly Updates' on your website if they're released once every month?
2. Will hardpoints have a 'destroyed' form, or will they just 'explode' then look the same as their undamaged form?

I just watched the latest version of the Jabiim briefing sent to me by Hockey. Here's the transcript:

/begin transcript/

HockeyGoalie35:
uploading final product now, gonna make it unlisted until you give it the ok

HockeyGoalie35:
[REDACTED URL]

Ulmont:
Lol, who was the advisor? You might want to lower the volume on his lines. Everything else was absolutely amazing!

HockeyGoalie35:
i was using my iphone for the recoding, so it makes my voive a little higher, how can i lower the voice in audacity?

Ulmont:
You can use amplify to make it quieter and change pitch to make it lower.

Ulmont:
If you can, I'd suggest trying to mimic the speaking-style of the advisor, or the pilot (not me, the one that says 'Deltas, this is as close as I can get you to your target!') ATM, you sound eerily like Caboose.

Ulmont:
Oh, and the fire/troopers deaths was amazing. Just one thing, can you make 'em shift, or move, or grab onto something, 'cause its just a little weird that the gunship gets hit and they just keep standing there like nothings happening. Oh, and if possible, add in a 'holoadvisor'. Its kind of odd having you talking to thin air in the troop bay.

/end transcript/

You can consider the comments section a sort of un-official news ticker, for news that isn't long enough to merrit a full-fledged update.

I apologize for the lack of update this week. Its not that we're lazy or dead, its just that there's really nothing to report. I could, of course, always publish some sort of strange compilation of gossip from our development forums, but even those have been oddly quiet of late. Apart from Balkoth having no luck with women (apparently they run away whenever they see him... rather odd, don't ya think), and a finalized version of the audio for the Jabiim briefing (which I would LOVE to show you, but can't yet) we've been dark. *shurg* Expect an updated Jabiim scene sometime soon, it's about 95% done.

Well, there are a couple of problems with removing the 'flashlight'. First off, is that we'd have to use an entirely new model, since UnrealEd doesn't let you export models, and doesn't like transpariencies. Second, we'd have to ajust the animation, which would be terribly time-consuming, as the troopers would be holding into thin air. Blame LucasArts for using the same firing animation for the DC-15 and the DC-17.

I think what he meant was for spartan to have a bounty-hunter like special ability. Where they can be used to eliminate to covvie equivalent of a Field/Fleet Commander.

Well, not quite. (Though we do plan on doing that level in the future, we already have a prototype light-saber in production). The place I'm thinking of is featured in at least Three Star Wars Games (though our version will be immensely superior in every way).

Update on the update:

Right now I'm holding off on an update until we get the Updated Jabiim Briefing done. While I could go dredge through our forums and pull out old skins and other tidbits (trust me, there are easily a hundred or so of them that I could pull out) and stuff them haphazardly into an update, I'd prefer to showcase something suitably epic. So expect an update soon. Very soon. However, while you wait, you can check out the stuff I posted into the images section, as well as the last section of last weeks update that I added in yesterday.

Thanks! I've got the team working on a SECRET NEW BONUS LEVEL THING that you'll hopefully get to play relatively soon. (Oh, and it's not Tantive IV. [I think that was in the last beta, but I'm not sure... Ask Hockey about it] Here's a hint: It's featured in Episode III) ^_^

Well in most game engines you could use an 'encounter' type set-up. Where you specify variables. Ex:

/GetVar Encounter001 = True ;
/CreateActor BattelDroid = getrandvalue(5-10 ;
/SetActorType BattleDroid = getrand security, pristine, default ;

Which basically says 'Have you blundered into the ambush' 'Yes, you have' 'Ok, now we're going to throw anywhere from five to ten battledroids at you' 'And those battledroids will be randomly chosen from the existing Security, Pristine, and Default paint schemes'

Now first off, that isn't quite the proper scripting language
And second, I have no idea if it is possible to do that in UnrealEd. 'You see, UnrealEd uses a 'value table' type system for scripts. In short, it gives you certain actions you can take (like create actor) and then you choose actor type. I'm not sure if you can specify it to choose a random variable. Though I suppose we could create multiple encounter zones and depending on which one you trip, a different 'squad' would attack, while at the same time nulling out the other encounter zones. Make sense?
