Well, just to be clear: we created imitations of some of the new content from the Xbox version. From scratch. We didn't take any files from the Xbox version and put them into the PC version. That's part of the reason why it took so long, and was so difficult to do.
The Killer App Mod v1.1 has been submitted to ModDB for approval. But if you don't want to wait, you can download it from this file mirror: Filefront.com
Not at this time, no. We'd like to try adding imitations of the new weapons from the Xbox version in a future update, but it's going to be very difficult to do.
Should happen in one week.
Quick update: Yes, the Killer App mod v1.1 is finished and in testing. :)
Yes, both 16:9 and 16:10 widescreen are supported in the mod. I use a 16:10 monitor myself.
Heh, I wouldn't expect anyone to vote for this mod. And I think it's safe to say it will be released long before TRON Legacy shows up.
Here's a little something, just to show continued progress on the mod.
I'll post a proper news update with more to say later this month.
If you don't want to use the new Gold cheat, you can just use the mpkfa cheat like before after skipping the training. But the mod changes it so that mpkfa gives you all Gold weapon subroutines on the first level.
You'll be missing out on the remaining subroutines (Utility, Defense), maxed out ratings, and the instant 1.05 build points that the new cheat gives you, though.
P.S. Before anyone asks, yes the mod is still being worked on. Taking longer than hoped. Will be released before the end of the year, though. Possibly late Nov. or early Dec. 2009, if all goes well.
I've added a couple more videos online showing widescreen fixes in action:
Youtube.com - Cutscene before and after
Youtube.com - Widescreen gameplay
It's nothing too exciting, so I'm not posting these as part of a news update. I'll have something more interesting to show in the next couple of weeks, and I'll post an update then.
Because no one is supposed to be hosting it or linking to it? The mod isn't ready for release yet.
People are still asking me if the mod is dead. No. No, it's not.
You have to understand: when our team first started working on this, we waited almost a year to announce it. Even then, it was many months before we finally released it. We're a small team, all busy with other things in real life. A couple of the team members are extremely busy right now.
I promise that within the next couple of months we'll have another update for you with screenshots or video, and some kind of ETA for the release of the new version.
No, it's not dead. An update will be posted when we're ready to show some of the new features. I can't say when, but it won't be too much longer. Possibly sometime in the next couple of months.
Well, you'd be wrong. It's still being worked on. As soon as we know when the new version of the mod is near completion, we'll make an announcement and provide an estimated time of release.
The first version *was* released on March 22nd, but we pulled it and are now working on a new version to replace it. The updated version will have some additional features and higher resolution character textures. I changed the release date now, to show that it back under development.
I just wanted to let everyone know that we're going to release another version of the mod soon. It will be completely online compatible with the first release. It won't matter what version you have.
The difference will be higher resolution textures . . . a "high res" version. Some of the textures in the mod are currently not at the highest resolution they could be. I'm doing this for people who have the latest high-end computers, and to do full justice to Kain-Xavier's and 9VoltChicken's skins. The choice of which version you want will be up to you, depending on your computer setup. If you have a relatively new PC, then you'll be able to run the higher resolution textures fine.
A little late, but yup it's done. Just waiting on ModDB to approve the file submission.
