Actually, and I assumed this would mess a lot of people up which is why I kept is as such, the numbering on the shelves is serpentine; that means that where shelf 3 ends shelf 4 picks up on the other side (not, where shelf 3 ends, go to where shelf 1 was but on the opposite side, that is shelf 4). Strange way to number, and stranger way to describe it without a visual, but, yeah.

Of note: it's an abandoned factory, yes? Well I think with that type of machinery that they would also have light-bulbs instead of candles; same goes for the fact that the character has a oil-filled lantern.

My suggestion would be to add in a pickup-able flashlight (i.e. one that the character must carry with him like a person would carry a bottle or cogwheel).
