Its only a small part of the galaxy actually. The bulges you see are the star clusters and nebulas.

This is actually not a planet cloud but a nebula. There will be as many sky domes we can produce. The planets don't move fast enough for you to see the day and night cycle. But if you could see them move yes.

To me it looks more like 2 ships combined. But maybe this could work as large repair/supply carrier.

Yes its similar in spirit but has many separate points.

1. persistent universe - what you do in any battle has effect on the vast aff unvierse
2. command point capture style RTS/no building - similar to World in Conflict
3. completely different engine designed for the game instead of AFF skin on Homeworld2
4. Team vs Team free play, join any time during the battle

RTS is played on 3 main points:

1. matching ship composition (fighter > bomber > capital ship > destroyer > frigate > fighter)
2. positional game play (kiting, arcing, fleet motion, ditection)
3. usage of abilities (shield over charge, attack buffs, repair, boarding)

Homeworld2 mostly based on resource gathering, and switching up to the next tech at the right time.

Panda3d (the engine behind 2aw) can also run in the browser. Running 2aw in a browser is untested though. That said I don't think browser will add any thing of value to the game. Its meant to be played full screen and is 'focused' - always requires your attenuation.

Hmm maybe more like a half-retail indie game. Download only.

I also did full time job and collage - it is hard! (looking back i should have taken lones).

The design of the game allows you to get in fast and play for short periods of time. In RTS and especially niche RTS games you have to wait for room to open, wait for people to jump in, map download etc... and then the game to starts. In 2aw you can join a battle at any time. Just join and build your fleet.

MMO aspects of the game are also more slow pace and ignorable in nature.

We thought about and off line campaign mode, but for a much later version based on the success of original.

I think the big value in IndieDB is that it brings out Indie developers to the front page better. On ModDB its hard to find who is Indie, who is mod and who is actual game profiles page created by fans. This site really brings it all into the open.
