The idea is nice but 90% of LA's maps, despite being larger than most, are just not designed with vehicles in mind.

If I recall, disabling the shader cache can drastically reduce initial boot times by some margin. What I can't tell you is whether this will cause hitching and or other unforeseen issues later on. The console command in question is r__shaders_cache off

If you haven't already and depending on the particular build you're using, you can still add the -developer string to the shortcut (could be -dev). Also, keep in mind you may need some additional files from the original gamedata archives, as to which you will have to use the search function (if it works). For some reason searching through moddb doeasn't seem to work for me with Firefox. The files required are basically the in-game item database for the dev menu that are particular to the build you are using. Hope this helps.

I'm not sure if you can disable completely but there are three bloom types to choose from within the options. If these are not to your taste, open the console, type "tonemap" and tune the various settings. The quick bloom fix I normally used is the "midgray" portion of the tonemap settings under the console. You can also edit said tonemap settings via the user.cfg

Edit: If I recall there is a bloom console command but not sure it'll give you the expected result. You'll have to forgive the brain as its been a few years :)

No worries. For me it the lewd phone call audio that's used while wearing the mask that bugs me.

For the gasmaks in the console type or edit your user.cfg: r3_hud_rain_drops 0 and
r3_hud_visor_effect 0 also
r3_hud_visor_shadowing 0.
I could be wrong but r3_hud_visor_effect 0 should disable all three of these.
The actor legs/shadow is just a toggle "g_actor_body off / on" its one or the other.

I guessing it to be the occlusion glitch/error that spams the console from time to time. Try typing "vid_restart" in the console.

r__shaders_cache on You can type this via the console which should help with boot times. As for prefetch, there are missing and/or renamed files which causes the game to crash (if i recall). This is to do with the semi-transparent zombies that were removed many patches back.
You'll need to boot the game with prefetch enabled, check the logs for said missing/renamed files. Make note of them. Then exstract both gamedatas, locate prefetch.ltx & edit then either remove or comment out the files mentioned in the crash log.
On a side note: you could, if you have the time exstract the appropriate db archives (textures, models & such) and check to see if the missing files are still there just renamed. I miss those zombies, I thought they looked awesome.

Create a shortcut for XR_3DA, delete fs.ltx and fsgame.ltx from the bins folder, but not the two that sit in the main root directory. Doing this will allow you to use the games exe directly bypassing the launcher. - past comment.

I can't speak for dev mode, but doing what I wrote above will allow the use of the exe directly. If I recall there's also some gamedata required from the mod's section here for both with & without the weapons addon. Without this gamedata the dev menu will be empty, this is mostly down to the weapons addon itself (mild form of anti cheat).

Having a look through this Dynamic Hud Mod maybe of interest.
Edit: At the very least give you an indication of which files to edit. :)

Hey LiquidBronze
I was just wondering how the Stalker News addon is moving along. I wont BS you and say "I'd like to help, but...". Translating mods drove me to bite my nails up to my elbows, especially when working half the day making sure the scripts are as they should, only for the bloody thing to crash on you without a log.
Was about to say I bet you've been there, but. I know you've been there as most of us have. hahaaa :)

Is there any news? (no pun (honest))

I know this isn't what you were asking for but I found DeepL to be quite useful for translating Stalker mods. More convenient than goodle shall we say. There is a character limit (per translate) on the free version but for single lines to a paragraph the free version works perfect.

Yup, my 2080 turns into a 8800GT as it is being underutilized.
In cases such as these (not all) actually increasing gfx settings will improve performance.

In the gfx options tick "Keep Textures in RAM", also type in the console r__shaders_cache on, the latter will help with first boot up times. You can also add -noprefetch to the startup command, but this may cause issues.

LiquidBronze So I was going through the sound folder and came across an exe called SAVandT.
It's a nifty little app, but the are 23 copies of it in various folders. Just thought I'd let you know. :)

Use the DCE bins rather than the DC ones, extract the shaders and sounds from bins_update.xdb0 then place them in gamedata as you normally would, discarding scripts. Move or delete bins_update.xdb0 from the mods folder then activate the debug menu as normal using one of the addons from the list at the top of this page. Job done :)

Footnote: This also fixes the "Too many occlusion queries" issue that happens with the other bins for what ever reason.

Using the new bins and a few ambient sounds from Anomaly.
The only other change is I incorporate the latest DCE debug menu.
I'll check through its configs, and I'm guessing this maybe the issue. DC+ to DCE may use different samples and the debug menu is for DCE, it's not something I've actually checked. Oops!

And..
Thanks for actually checking though. You've been a pretty good constant round here for quite some years. Respect!

Not sure if this is related to your comp LB but, snd_zoom_in.ogg and snd_zoom_dec.ogg are missing.
I fixed the CTD by copying & renaming binoculars_zoomin/out.ogg from sound/weapons to the appropriate sound/device folder. Crash happens when zooming with the Binoc's.

The crash is caused by a rather hefty texture pack from STALKER Remastered. The pack itself could do with 64bit, but with a bit of jiggery-pokery managed to get it working (sort of).

Cheers.

No, no good sir :) perhaps I should have been clear myself.
I've been using vid_restart and every now & then the game will crash when using the command.

Is there anyway to stop or suppress the "Too many occlusion queries" issue.
Causes a fair amount of lag even on a hi-end system, not always safe to vid restart.
