No worries, Im glad you fixed it and Im glad you like it. ; )
I've not come accross that before. I always run it in Windows XP (Service Pack 3) and that has always been good for me.
I did have a problem where my computer would not read the game disk though but it is unlikely that is your problem. When the computer can't read the disk, you can hear the laser searching for something to read and it may try for as long as 5 minutes before it gives up. You will then get something like "Unable to read Disk" or "Please insert Disk" poping up.
Also, if you can see the name of the disk when viewing the drive from My Computer or where-ever, then the disk has alredy been found by your computer.
If you have several drives (I have (C:) (D:) and (E:) drives), then it could be posible that the pemissions on some of the drives are causing problems. For me, I have to run my mods from (D:) or (E:) beacuse the pemissions (C:) messed up (I was messing with stuff I knew nothing about and FUBARed it). If you do have several drives and can move the mod, it might be worth a try but remember to change to Targer in the shortcut properties to match the new location.
One last thing that might fix it if nothing else is working is a total re-install. I can't remember if you lose all the player made maps and stuff when you re-install so you might want to back them up somewhere first.
I really hope some of that helps. Let me know how you get along with it.
No worries about your english, I can understand you. : )
Im not sure what patch you need. I don't think it matters as long as you have BfME II and RotWK installed.
There shouldn't be any .ini errors, have you got any other mods installed? This mods has to be played on it's own without any other mods.
I have no video making programs, sorry. It really souldn't need a video. I'll try simplify it for you. : )
1. Put the mod folder in your desired drive (something like "C:\Battle Of The Pelennor Fields" or "D:\Battle Of The Pelennor Fields").
2. Make a copy of your shortcut or desktop icon that you use to run the RotWK game.
3. Right click the shortcut/decktop icon and go to the properties.
4(A). Find the target and add [ -mod ] to the end. You need to add both the spaces but not the square brackets.
4(B). Add the location of where you put the mod folder to the end of the target. It should look something like: "C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\The Lord of the Rings, The Rise of the Witch-king\lotrbfme2ep1.exe" -mod "C:\Battle Of The Pelennor Fields".
5. Press Ok or Apply to save the properties.
6. Load up the mod with this shortcut.
Aye, this is Rohan's main map. Players can ofcorse use this fortress. For the computer controled factions, I have only set the AI up for Rohan so far so only Rohan will be able to use the Fortress. All the factions will work as normal in all the other starting positions though.
Atm, it supports 4 players but if people want, I can make it an 8 player map.
Erm, Im not sure why that hasn't fixed it. A few ppl had the very same problem before with earlier patches and that always fixed it. Have you tried it with anything other than Windows XP (Service Pack 3)? Also, have you all the custom setting set to the highest? I doubt its anything to do with Windows 7 as thats what im using.
You can remove the option to build the units from the faction's structure cammandset but unless you know modding, thats not an easy fix.
Just finished remaking the Edoras map from BfME as a new 4 player map. I might upload it as a download file if people want but otherwise it will have to wait till the next update. Might also make it an 8 player map but again it depends on people's interest.
I think if you run the game in compatability mode, all should be ok. : )
Compatability Mode: Right click the shortcut or desktop icon that you use to load the game. Select the "Properties" option and when the window opens, look for the "Compatability" tab. Then tick the "Run this programe in compatability mode for:" and select "Windows XP (Service Pack 3)". Now click "OK".
Generally, the max zoom hight is set in the maps. Open a map and then do Edit/Edit Map Settings/Max Hight.
So you have tryed extracting it with WinRAR or another programe? Maybe try right cliking it and clicking on "Open wth" then find WinRaR on there and open it that way.
Let me know if that works.
Thanks man, glad you like it. ;)
When you say "basic ring powers", do you mean the Spells that you buy with power points? If so, the thing is, Harad is in the far south with is extramely hot and the Mordor offencive spells are largly fire spells so it makes sence to give them to Harad.
I did actually try to make a unique spell tree for each of the new factions but just couldn't get it to work. It was one of the things that I was planning on going back and having another go at but havn't got round to it yet. I might have another crack at it some point though.
I'd love to get some feedback from the map. If you play it, please let me know how you found it. : )
I have totally remade The Battle of the Pelennor Fields map so check it out.
There is a picture up in Latest Screens showing which factions go in each starting position.
I hope you like it and please leave feedback. :)
Thanks a million man. :)
Righty, it's up! Just waiting for authorisation now.
Still trying to upload the new file.
Righty, Im giving up for the night. I just can't get the file to upload. Will try again tomorrow.
Just trying to put up a new Download but it's taking ages to upload to the site. I have decided to release the game as it is now because I just don't know when I'll have time to finish it to the standard I want. I'll finish polishing it as and when I get time but here's something to play with untill then.
I havn't made any new Heroes yet guys, sorry. Im just to pushed for time. The AI should be a bit better but Im afraid I get totally sidetracked with trying to solve a single AI porblem and just couldn't let it go. I was trying to get the AI to use the Transport Ships so that the AI would still work on maps where the starting positions were seperated by an expance of water. I made some progress but not enough to put it in the game yet. I will have another crack at making some new Heroes and improving the rest of the AI if I can find the time. All the factions now work in War of the Ring mode. Like a said in an earlier post, I have given the Kings Men infantry units a work over. They look much cooler now I think. Also, I can't remember if I did this before or after the last patch but Mordor has had all the human units removed and replaced with Orc units.
Crap, just realised as Im typing, I havn't finished sorting out the Inn units. I think that every faction has a unit they can get from the inn but some are the same for a few factions I think. Something else I'll sort out for the next patch. Also, I have also forgot to do something with the two Blue Wizards. At the moment they are with Rohan but I have another idea for them that I just havn't got round to yet. The Rohan AI won't use them though.
Im sure I have forgotten some stuff but I'll post them if I remember.
Hey guys. Sorry I've not been on in ages but RL keeps me too busy.
I been tinkering away whenever i get the time and slowly getting things ready for what i hope will be the last patch. I have added all the factions to the War of the Ring mode but stil need to make a few more heroes for most of the factions. I have given the King's Men basic units a workover too so they look more like arnor units as the angmar models looked a bit crap. Right now im working on the AI but unfortunatly that means i need to play a lot of games to test each little tweek i make. After i have the new heroes and AI sorted, i'll just need to give everything a fine polish and then im done.
Im not sure if thats more information than you need but thought maybe some of you might to like to know where its up to and to know im still working on the mod.
Crap, meant to send you a message not post of your page. Oh well, lol. : )
Hey there Fella. Sorry it took a few days to reply. I just tried to download the mod and it all worked fine for me. I just scrolled down the page for the mod and clicked the top link (Battle Of The Pelennor Fields 0.9) in "Latest Downloads". Then, after the new page loaded up, i clicked the "Download Now" icon opposite the Mirrors line. A popup window came up with adds but the download started automatically. There was a link at the top of the window that said "Click to download Battle_Of_The_Pelennor_Fields.rar if it doesn't start automatically or try another mirror.", maybe try that if you still can't get it to work.
Good luck man and let me know if you still can't download it, I'll see if I can think of another way to get it to you.
No, sorry man, nothing new atm. Im well busy now-a-days fella and just about to get a new wee kiddo so Im hard pressed to find time make new stuff for it.
If there is anything you want fixing though, I'll should be able to do that so jusy let me know.
Sorry to keep you waiting for new stuff guys.
Right. Then Im really lost as what to suggest, maybe try reinstalling it, I really don't know.
I'll go look on some forums and see what I can see
Ok, I'll go check it out. Thats the only unit/hero that your having problems with? Also, is the whole hero invisible (hero and horse) or just the hero?
Are you sure your putting the mods in the right place and I know this may be a stupid question but are you unzipping the folder?
On my computer, I have put the mod in D:\ so it looks like: D:\Battle Of The Pelennor Fields
Inside the Battle Of The Pelennor Fields folder there is folders like art, bases, data etc... (D:\Battle Of The Pelennor Fields\data\ini\objects..... for example)
The target in the shortcut looks like this: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Electronic Arts\The Lord of the Rings, The Rise of the Witch-king\lotrbfme2ep1.exe" -mod "D:\Battle Of The Pelennor Fields"
Hope some of that helps.
I can only think that you may have the target wrong. It's really importand that you add a space inbetween the end of the old target and the bit your adding. should look something like this: "C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\The Lord of the Rings, The Rise of the Witch-king\lotrbfme2ep1.exe" -mod "C:\Battle Of The Pelennor Fields"
The space between lotrbfme2ep1.exe" and -mod and the space after -mod is majorly important. If either of these are missing, it won't work. I can't actually remember what happens if they are missing but I think it would just load the normal game like whats happening for you.
Also, make sure you have the right destinations in the target. Let me know if you still can't get it working.
If you are running on xp, you shouldn't really need to run the game in the compatability mode. I only run it in compatability mode to get it to run in xp.
I suppose the next thing to try is to delete it all and start over. Maybe even reinstall the game if you have the discs. If it doesn't work after that then Im lost : (
In the meantime, I'll check about and see if I can find anyone with similar problems and how they solved it.
Mmmm. So you did everything in the guide? Did you also run it in Compatability mode?
See, because it's an old game now, it nearly always needs to be run in compatability mode. Im running Windows 7 so if your running anything newer than that, then Im afraid I can't help. Im confident we'll get it sorted though bro.
Almost positive there's no problem with the asset.dat. The only way I know of to make it all work is to do it exactly how I said in the guide bro.
