This is kind of weird now anyway isn't it. I think most of us, well me anyway, originally thought it was going to be some sort of basic feature set that would allow us to use normal maps and better lighting, which would have been fantastic. It's grown to be some kind of monster feature set now though hasn't it that like you say, most of us, again I mean me at least, wouldn't have a clue about, or have need of.

It doesn't even matter anymore, most people have gotten their heads around the fact that it's a mod exclusive feature set, and moved on to other things. It was never realistically going to change the game just by adding normal maps, but with all the more technical features it really has changed the game, which really only works for this mod anyway.

In short, unless there's a basic version for stupid people, you're unlikely to want it anyway.

P.S - like what you've done with the mod guys, I don't play anymore but still look in once in a while.

Firstly, I'd like to say thanks for all your hard work, it's much appreciated and you've succeeded largely in breathing life into a rather tired looking old game now, so well done sir!

I used the 7 part download method to install the mod, very easy to do which is nice! I wanted to ask though, I've been getting some odd lighting issues, particularly noticeable in cut scenes, as if light sources are switching on and off, have you ever experienced this? I've not modded the game in any other way other than how you've instructed.

This is between you and SWAT obviously, but clearly anyone can see a hell of a lot of the content featured in this mod is lifted from crossfire, that's not a point worth having an argument over.

I can see that the point you're trying to make is that you are not responsible for the content featured within this mod, you're just a middleman pointing out the fact it exists. That's fine I suppose, but I'm not really sure you've got a leg to stand on as far as uploading the content to MOD DB is concerned.

Terms of service: 2.3 You warrant that you are the owner or creator of any User Developed Content, or any User Generated Content you choose to upload, or that you have received permission from the owner or creator of any such content to make such submissions and to licence that content

Make of that what you will, I'm just pointing that out to you in case you overlooked it before uploading the mod and it's content, don't be surprised if this mod does get taken down.

You lucky duck, I only coughed up the £30 for elite last summer, so I don't think that qualifies me for beta, probably just pre-order. Kept one eye on it though and watched a few of the alpha testing videos, actually looks better than I anticipated, especially Coriolis. Sidewinder really impressed me, can't believe they've managed to make what is such a basic shape look so kick *** :)

Might get to see what they've done with Star Citizen tomorrow too if they get that dog fight module working, looking at an Aurora in a hanger, amazing as it is, bored the pants off of me after about 5 mins.

How big a shoebox are we talking 500k? 750k? 1000k? Cruise speed really high or are you taking care of the distance with those inner system jumps? Just want you to know I'm not being negative or critical here as someone saw fit to give me a negative vote last time I asked you a question, merely interested as always.

Pretty sure that I've experienced this myself in the past, there are more than 50 but the extra get copied via the updater, so the issue doesn't normally arise within FLMM on first activation of the install. A complete version of the mod with all updates wouldn't activate, but it's all good if you run CF from it's own dedicated freelancer installation. I set one up that way because such a huge mod can make FLMM get a little stressed when trying to deactivate the mod ;)

Can't be far away with 2.0 now though so it's all irrelevant :)

I felt the same way as T-max if I'm honest OP, not that I was bothered by having to fly through all the systems, more that the jump holes were so far apart and there was nothing going on in between.

Once you know that there's nothing going on you can put the kettle on and put your feet up for 5 mins, but it's bloody boring as hell when you're just sat there staring at the screen waiting for something to happen and nothing does.

Less distance between jump holes would fix it. I like the way vanilla systems like omicron alpha, gamma etc that have no tradelanes are quite small so you don't have this long wait. Very simple, couple of planets, an asteroid field or two and a bit of action in a zone is much better than a massive void for me, although I appreciate that you could argue space is big and mostly empty and that's the feeling and mood you're trying to create.

Please don't be offended, still looking forward to playing 2.0 to see what you've done with the place ;)

You can't quit now chief! They could be years away from doing anything and with such vague details who's to say what it will be like anyway, they might just update the textures on the backgrounds and nothing else.

You've done way too much work to let it go to waste, patch it up and release it as is if you haven't the time to complete it, there's loads more people here waiting to have a bash at your work than you realise I reckon, it's the silent majority innit ;)

Think you're both right, if you release something below par then people will walk away, but likewise if you take too long to release something, a hell of a lot of people will have either lost interest and moved on, or lost confidence in your ability to produce a finished mod.

It must have been 18 months ago now you were talking about release being just around the corner, Christmas 2011 or something like that. It's all the hype back then that had everyone stoked, and no offence, but ever since you missed that window people will have been slowly losing confidence and wondering if FW:TOW will be confined to the long list of mod projects with TBC forever next to their name.

I think for me, I hope you don't take too much longer, but at the same time, whatever happens I hope you make the mod you intended and can be proud of it, regardless of whether there's anyone around to play it.
