finally in college and the same old RTS addict that i am. been modding for C&C3 tiberium wars lately, and doing some a little step up in challenging myself in 3d modelling. from doing tanks i currently am modelling gundams, in the hopes of being able to establish a gundam-based game on the UDK after i master animation and texturing ;) but i doubt that's gonna be any time soon..

Ah yes, devil may cry. Yes we all love that game; a white-haired badass demon slayer with a huge sword and dual pistols and his freakish lightning-fast movements and bloody ballerina style attacks have always been the main attraction in the series. And yes we've all heard that the new DmC will be out soon, with most of the fans in high expectations.

DmC has always been the definition of fast-paced hack-and-slash games. The entire series follows the story of the son (dante) of a human and a demon, but in DmC4, things took a rather surprising turn with the advent of a new and exciting character named nero, another half-human half-demon bestowed with the power of Dante's father, Sparda, through his demonic right arm. The rumors spreading of a new DmC game had everyone expecting the revelation of the story behind Nero's life, since in DmC4, he was only shown as a part of a holy order gone demonic, and that he must do everything to stop its leader from summoning demonic powers from the underworld. But expectations were broken as soon as the first batch of videos and screenshots of the new DmC were leaked to the net.

Along with the rumor of a new DmC game was the confirmed rumor of Capcom turning over the game into the hands of Ninja Theory, and everything in the game was remade, from the main character to the story line, to everything else that was in Devil may Cry, but fans were not readily accepting the game.

Let's see the changes made to the game.

Behold, the new Dante!!

Apparently given a more modernistic approach to character design, the new dante is NOT the white-haired trash-talking badass we all knew. instead, he is now a malnourished rockstar punk in the form of a nephilim, a half angel half demon. Now that may seem like an enticing concept but that in itself broke the original dante's character. The main character himself wreaks of the end of the DmC we all knew back in the day. No more of the style-switching, the cool weapons and that terrifying-looking demon transformation, the epic bosses and the cool weapons we get along the story line. And maybe the mysteries shrouding Nero may never be solved, unless Capcom takes things back in their own hands.

The UI:

Since when was Max Payne ever part of the formula of devil may cry? That life bar shouts max payne at my brain (i made a rhyme :D) and that stylish rank wreaks of tony hawk series. And if there's anything that's disgusting about this screenshot it's that point-measured style rank and the fact that "Dante" carries a scythe that looks like irradiated plastic rod that mutated and sprouted a tooth. And just because he wears a long coat doesn't mean this game is safe him from negative criticism. Because right now, the amount of negative criticism for this game is TOO DAMN HIGH.

The weapons:
Yes that's what you think it is. It's the bastard cousin of the Ebony and Ivory and Rebellion. And yes the bastard cousins have the same names. One does not simply allow ELVES to make pistols for a demon. Look at those things! it's like the ghost rider touched those pistols, burnt the grips and replaced them with tree branches! And since when did dante get to the medieval era?

The styles:
Like the swordmaster, trickster, royal guard and gunslinger? THERE'S NONE HERE. I don't think this topic needs further discussion since it has become clear that expectations were broken, a glorious franchise left in wreck, and fans left walking home like a pack of disappointed wolves.

To wrap things up, the new DmC is a total and utter DISAPPOINTMENT.

Dragon nest Players (Whichever server you are playing on) hear me out. i'm sure you've all suffered (and/or continue to suffer) this error that happens when your antivirus takes away the game launcher and puts it in the chest, and the next time you put it back in that freakin folder, you get that god damned runtime error AKA "Floating support point not loaded".

yes i know... CLEAN THE REGISTRY.... as if i hadn't done that before i even posted this yes i had done that five million times over, yet it's one of those problems that say "if all else fails, reformat your PC". no i don't have time and effort and resources to reformat this four-year-old PC. hell i even dared to upgrade it. and it's those one of those things that force you to quit when you think you don't wanna quit.

update the .Net framework yes been there done that. not a working solution. your best bet now is reformat your damn PC. good luck reinstalling windows.

Japanese, in the entertainment world are known for two of the many things they are know for: anime, and the music that you hear as intro and ending themes of those animes. of course there are many other j-pop music artists whos music don't get used in animes.

Now let's cut to the chase. when you hear japanese music, you may think "wow nice instrumentals though i don't understand the language but the music rocks!!" or "Where can i download this song?" or "i really need to learn japanese for this song." sure their music is awesome, but why aren't they internationally known for their music? even the less popular Korean artists suddenly blasted their way out of the dark of their own country a few years back in time because of a reason some of us don't know (that includes me). Some of those great music artists are Larc en Ciel:

yeah you've heard that from somewhere u just don't know where or when you heard it.

there's also Nico Touches the wall.. i dunno but i've only heard about them when their song knocked at the doors of fullmetal alchemist brotherhood and became its 2nd opening theme.

great song that one.. the only song i never got tired of listening to and was desperate enough to ear-tab it since there were not guitar tabs for the lead guitar of this song. also, here's Asian Kung Fu Generation and their song Rewrite:

it's only a live performance since there's probably no official vid for it (or i'm just not searching hard enough to find it).

What's your initial reaction when you here those sounds of those individuals from the land of the rising sun? beautiful isn't it? i think they should elevate their fame from nation to international judging by how cool their songs are. i mean, not all popular songs should be english right?

ah yes, old scrap of news.. i'm gonna bring it up anyway since i can't get it off my head no matter what i do.

halo: one of the most revolutionary FPS games of the 21st century that transformed the meaning of combat and turned every non-gamer to a hardcore gamer. its first installment: halo combat evolved launched into the Xbox, then later to the PC supporting online gaming that widened the gaming experience of the game. then a few years later, halo two was released, continuing the story that masterchief left unfinished. with a fully hauled graphics, new weapons and new enemies, halo two was one that kept the gamers begging for more. another few years later, halo three released to the Xbox 360 and wowed the crowd and forced them to make smiles that reached the backs of their heads, but alas, PC gamers do not get anything that is labeled "halo 3" other than a soundtrack and a wallpaper. that was a clear message that halo was saying goodbye to the PC, leaving PC gamers who do not own Xbox 360s to cry themselves to sleep and envy the Xbox gamers.

as time progressed, more of the ever successful halo series were released, such as halo 3 ODST, halo wars and halo reach, and two more games coming in the next few years. and as time progressed, PC gamers cried to put halo in PC. some, to solve the dilemma, attempted to create an xbox 360 emulator for the PC, but sad to say that it required more than just mere software. it required expensive hardware as well. as fans wait for halo to say hello again to the PC, they would have to cry themselves to sleep seeing Xbox gamers play halo reach on their LED tv sets and Xbox 360s.

heard of that guy from CNC paradise who keeps babbling about how many flaws the CNC series has, how horribly westwood has done their, and how EA made it better for the CNC series? if yes, then you probably know him. if no, then i am not afraid to shout to the world the name of the unrelenting troll who started flaming westwood and claiming he is more mature in thought than everyone else in the group. meet PsychoticLoner, the troll who has mental problems even a psychiatrist cannot handle.

this guy always says WW and CNC is horrible and overrated, that tiberium was set in a colorless setting, that EA did a better job than WW (despite the fact that EA made a fail ending with CNC). i totally DO NOT agree with him. WW is great. WW made CNC. without WW there would be no CNC. who else in their time had the same idea? who else in their time who played CNC would think about the flaws of the game rather than the memorable and nostalgic experiences with tiberian dawn and tiberian sun? no one would, because WW made a very good job that it prevents players from even thinking for a second of the flaws of the game, yet this Psychotic asshole guy says "WW is overrated. WW CNC has millions of flaws. tiberium is set in a colorless lifeless and stale setting etc. etc.". WHATEVER. the guy obviously never thought of how CNC started in the first place. or maybe he's played world in conflict and compare it with CNC, which apparently is what's happening with him.

westwood started it all, so why would they be overrated? EA only continued their job yet ended up in failure to satisfy the fan's needs (in fact i think EA should be the one to have a huge nameplate with the word overrated on it).

with every mod come's a player's opinion. with every opinion comes an opportunity to learn how good you are in modding. with every learning opportunity comes another opportunity to prove yourself. with every opportunity to prove yourself comes the chance to prove that mods are made for fun. and yes, mods are for fun. that's what everyone (almost) will say about modding. yet there are 1 out of 100/50 opinions that say "i am not impressed with what you've done" or "this sucks, why did you replace that" or "what a load of crap i didn't reinstall this game for this". some say that especially when most of the community goes to the positive side of the spectrum. it happens. A LOT. and one such mod that received that certain comment from a player is tiberium war's "Tiberium Apocalypse" mod made by Helge129.

a majority of tiberium wars players say the mod is fantastic even when it's only 30% done. i agree with that, and i agreed even more when i tried the mod myself. yet there is always one, ONE player that will say "what a load of BS" to a great mod. that happened just then to TWTA. i won't mention his name because i might cause him embarassment, but he said what i just said about him disagreeing with 99.9% of the community. that's his opinion, and he's acting like some sort of manager of the mod, acting like a judge and saying how horrible he's done his job (i'm referring to helge129 in his). and i just can't stand by and watch him blabber about stuff like that. i intervened and so did others.

i don't know why people disagree with something the rest of the community agrees with but it has to stop. if people have a negative opinion about something but the rest of the community agrees with the positive side is being a hypocrite, and i don't like that. it has to stop, else one day thoughts like that could start a mass player flaming war here and that would be horrible.

**for those of u who do not like reading large bodies of text please keep your eyes away from this post**

just today i watched the trailer of the upcoming Devil may cry 5 to be released some time at the end of the year. my first reaction? HOLY. SHIT. it's the holy shit that i would say when something terrible has happened. AND YES, something terrible has happened to devil may cry. of course i knew Capcom doesn't handle devil may cry anymore, though even with that fact i still expected something good from the upcoming sequel. but what i got was total load of crap that doesn't even look like devil may cry. i'd even say its producers made a game that they mistakenly took as devil may cry.

now, onto the trailer.

do you see the cool white haired guy with the red coat, cool leather pants and tops with a big broadsword with a skull and bones at the hilt? do you see the cool one handed shotgun? do you see his uber cool dashes, his mid air tricks and his dance macabre move with his sword master technique? NO. you see a guy with pepper and salt hair with dual magnums and a stick that transforms into an overgrown sickle/extendable sword/whatever shit you call it.

while i was watching the trailer today i hoped to see dante (the cool white haired guy) in the end of it. instead i got this dante wannabe who smokes and probably takes in marijuana and drugs as a stimulant for fighting and who claims to be dante himself. some people say the guy in the trailer is Dante's son, though the trailer tells a rather different story.

back to history.

the last dmc game before dmc 5 was, well, dmc 4. the first guy you could use in the game, was another white haired guy with a dual barreled magnum and a heavy single edged sword that you could charge up to spice up your attacks, and this devilish right arm that could break a demons neck with a click of a button. i was expecting dante to be in the game so at first i was disappointed, but when i got further into the game, my hopes of seeing dante again was finally realized, when he made an appearance in the 12th mission after Nero was absorbed into this huge marble statue (which was a demon) and used as a power source, since he had the blood of sparda, brought about by his right arm. though dante only acquired three weapons (both guns and swords), pandora, lucifer, and gilgamesh, and one style (darkslayer) after acquiring yamato, which was extracted out of the demon world by a mad demon scientist known as Agnus, his ability to switch styles on site (though leveling it was manual, by buying its levels with proud souls) made all the difference in the game, it made him even more kick ass than in devil may cry 3.

Back to present.

with the real dante one, all hopes of seeing rebellion, ebony and ivory, and coyote-A and the cool white-haired guy named dante are completely gone. in his place is some sort of drug addict with a transforming stick and two magnums. will it still be worth playing, even with the loss of its MAIN star? from my viewpoint, i would say no. i've slayed demons with dante for years now and i will continue to do so with dante and his cool weapons. unless all this is changed, if i ever want to acquire DMC5, i will do so by torrenting it, since it is no longer worth my money. till then, i still hope to see dante.

hey guys!! i just started playing operation flashpoint and played several missions already, and 1 conclusion i can make: if you're a newb at FPS games, then get ready to repeat each mission in this game 10 times. and yes, that's exactly what happened to me. though i'm not a total newb at FPS games, i am a total newb at OP flashpoint's game play style. the maps in each mission is very wide!! and enemies could just pop up every where possible, and take 3 bullet hits on the body and you're dead.

that's what made things so hard. one thing i like about the game is you can drive an array of vehicles from trucks to tanks to helicopters. but in a tank you can only assume one role:
either a tank commander, driver, or gunner (kinda sucks since that you can't control the crew as one).

but as what i said the game is so freaking hard if you just got to play it.

so, if you ever played this game, how many times did you have to repeat each mission??
