Totally agree. I can take their DRM policies and crap, as long as they keep making great games. If that stops I'll pretty much have the same opinion of them EA.

I just pirate their games to get around their terrible DRM. I don't care about multiplayer enough to be inclined to buy it. Also AC3 was terrible in my opinion. I mean I sort of felt as if I was playing a beta... It wasn't ready:( they pushed it out the door too soon. Sure the combat, systems, bugs, etc were all flushed out but the story seemed to have been poorly written and rushed. Some of the quests just felt as if they were there for the sole reason of extending the game and could have been omitted without damaging the overall story. Oh and since I'm already complaining about how AC is becoming worse I might aswell mention how much I think eagle vision is over powered in AC4. The game will be between too easy, and having to hit anything like 10 times in order to kill it. They are making AC hard in every single way that it should NOT be done:( Also what was the last Ubisoft game that actually supported modding? I can't think of any that had a creation kit or red kit to make modding easy:( also I agree with you that if their games begin to suck I will consider them like I considered EA 2 weeks ago they did a few good things. (Humble bundle and origin allows refunds) therefore I dislike them less but I still used ea as a verb that means everything from rushed to DRM to sim city scale failure:)

You should see the amount of times Battlefield 3 disconnects from a server due to some DRM error. I changed my Origin ID and email recently and Origin practically had a heart attack. Repeated disconnecting and giving me the birdie made up about half an hour of my Battlefield 3 experience, until I manually fixed it myself. Glorious.

Ubisoft has made the occasional friendly gesture to its consumer base, FarCry3 Map editor comes to mind.
But it is true that these corporations are certainly not becoming any friendlier to us consumers in general. I just see Ubisoft as the lesser of two evils to be honest.

*Continued from last night, I was zonked so couldn't be bothered finishing my comment.*

AC3 fell so far from the previous games. I thought Revelations was going to be the Black Sheep of the series, but when AC3 came out I was so freakin disappointed. I gave it a 7/10 review on here but probably would of given it lower if I hadn't felt the obligation of a die hard fan.
And now the fanbase has exponentially expanded from all the newbies who thought the game was simply epic. I'm just slightly paranoid that they may taint the upcoming games, *looks at CoD* and may be happy with a copy-paste of the previous titles.

Same I'm a diehard fan as well... Also Revelations had an AMAZING story. It did Altiar justice. It was actually after my second play through of ACR that I realized Altiar is awesome. The first game was terrible and AC2 was the best so far since it was actually more challenging without gimmicky enemies. I'm looking forward to AC4 but I doubt I will be buying it since I just don't feel like that genre is good. They should make a mod kit that allows single player modding...

*News flash* ModDB members want mod tools for Assassin's Creed, "They should make a mod kit that allows for modding singleplayer..." Says disappointed die hard fan. Another friend nods emphatically "It's not like our community is biased towards modding or anything, but we seriously think they could improve the game by releasing mod tools to the people."
CEOs Henley and INtense! refused to comment on the situation.

All ModDBer's response to a bad game (including myself) Release a mod kit!

We should try starting a petition or something to get mod tools for the assassin's creed games since I would love to play a fan made remake of AC1 using a more modern engine and better assets. Much like blackmesa:D but knowing Ubisoft I doubt they would allow that:(

I think that is a great idea. Anvil was touched up for ACII but it's still the same engine so if we got tools for ACI we'd probs be able to mod II, AC:B and even AC:R!!!

I would have absolutely no idea how to start a petition, but I would start with the Assassin's Guild here on ModDB to get some ideas floating if you're thinking about it. From there I'd probably go to the Ubisoft forums and get people excited over there.

I'll sign it!

The Anvil engine needs some modder friendly mod tools but I'm not sure if I have the necessary time to get enough people excited to convince Ubisoft to make them:( also I don't expect a lot of people check the assassin's guild on moddb very often, so I'd need to post some kind of picture to even reach most of our fellow moddb assassins. In other words it would be nice to have someone else spread the message or at least someone to help spread the massage...

Yeah I know how you feel. I'm fairly good friends with the AC Guild admin, but like you say the group isn't that popular at the moment so wouldn't really cause that much of a stir. And then going into the Ubisoft forums as someone who has made (two posts?) so pretty much a complete newbie, I probably wouldn't get any attention at all.
