I am The Evina. I do a little bit of everything from making maps for Cry of Fear and Source games to writing fiction novels to programming and web design and many other things. I like to review Source mods. A perfect 10 is reserved for mods that blow my mind. This is a list of mods I have contributed to: G String (voice acting [announcer]), Aperture Beginnings (voice acting [announcer]), Cry of Fear (creator of the custom campaign "The Hole").

My impression of the mod so far is not so great. I've been stuck over and over again. Why do I keep going through endless halls that look the same and they have the same names too, "Laboratory" and "Research" for example. The story has been bland too. And the puzzles are often hard because they make no sense. They have no explanation or hints. I liked the original Penumbra games but I don't think I'll be able to finish this. Sorry :/

Judging by the first version I played, along with these videos, this mod comes closer to being true horror than any horror game I've played.

This world is merciless, depressing, and disgusting. The creator ignores every taboo known to mankind to make sure the player becomes immersed in it and stays immersed for a long time.

After playing it I want to cling to my mediocre life now with its little problems and be more grateful that we haven't degraded to that level (yet).

Few other mods or games could come close to holding this much emotional power.

What do you do when you get the rope? I can't believe I'm stuck at the beginning of the game running around for hours finding nothing.

Please add some more details in empty Combine halls, and some light models so that the glowing spots on ceilings make sense, then you're just about perfect.

- Doors have doorframes
- There's more maps
- The memory sticks have a purpose
- More puzzles to existing maps
- Everything is more detailed than before, though it could be better I suppose. That's my weak point.
- lots more stuff...

Copy or move the folder "belowice" to the directory where Steam is installed, under the folder "SteamApps" and then "sourcemods". All mods for Source engine go in that folder.

I'm glad this hasn't closed yet. My life has been sucky again and I haven't had time to work on it. But I hope to get some new pictures up or something. I still plan on finishing this mod.

Mod is not dead. I just like to take long breaks.

I've made a Portal 2 map that I'm planning on publishing to the workshop soon and unfortunately it makes this mod look pretty low quality. So I want to work on it even less now. But I definitely will get it finished one day.

So it's not about Alyx and it's not on the Source Engine. So basically it's not the same mod and the mod is dead. Thanks for letting us know at least. So many others wait like a year before announcing death.

So if memory is running out on many people's computers causing it to crash then will mine run this with 2GB of RAM? It can run most games but I hope this won't be a problem.

After getting the Orange Box for $5 during a sale and playing almost a hundred mods with hundreds of hours combined gameplay, I became stingy when it comes to spending $12. In 2 hours I got just about every ending, and many of them were copies from the free mod, and much of the gameplay is walking through the same hallways over and over again. So yes, I can't help but feel slightly disappointed. More is better.

I wish it had 20% more endings...

Anyway, I was thinking, maybe we modders should create more endings. I would love to have the story continue, I want deeper levels of weird. This is a Source game. This site is ModDB. Mods are what we do best. You did include a fgd so I just might take a peek inside.

Source SDK is broken but I still use the one at "C:\Program Files\Steam\SteamApps\common\Half-Life 2\bin\hammer.exe"

And gameinfo.txt has to be updated too. I figured you already know that, but I'm only trying to help.

I purchased and played the new Stanley Parable yesterday.

I think I got most of the endings. There were only a few more apart from the original that I found, even after spending all day on it. It's very interesting, but $12 seems like a lot to ask for what the game offers. I had higher expectations. Maybe it's because I was desensitized to some dialogue after remembering it from the original Stanley Parable. I wish I could find more endings because I feel like I'm missing so much. It looks like there's a lot there, a lot everywhere, when most of the time there's nothing important there. So many buttons and props that have nothing to do with the story but are there to troll you. I did that input puzzle until I reached the buttons room and I still don't know what that's all about. And I wish there was at least some filtering on the shadows so they wouldn't have such jagged edges. But overall, this is a pretty cool game.

No, you just need Episode 2.

For the final release I might release a SDK 2013 version for those who don't have Ep2. It's essentially the same except it needs DLLs.

Speed hack
go to cfg/autoexec.cfg. Open it and add this line

hl2_walkspeed 175

That's the highest I think would be realistic. If you want faster you might as well give yourself a HEV suit which would make no sense at all.

I know detail is one of my weak points, which is way this is WIP. Despite playing nearly a hundred Source mods I've had a hard time with learning mapping.

I do, however, have a few detailed things planned but I really wanted to do a beta so I could get some more advice on the existing areas and puzzles. I was thinking about doing something regarding the walking speed too.
