In real life my name is Jordan Heaton. I live in Colorado and I work for my family business while I attend school. Damn wonder I find time to mod, but somehow I manage. I'm studying Biology and will attend an internship in South Dakota this summer with nothing but college girls!!! Actually there will be one other guy, but shrugs*. I obviously have an obsession with J.R.R. Tolkien's fantastic world of imagination, but I also have a few other passions. I really enjoy mechanic work, and right now that's my day job. I have a certain thing for Ford Mustangs, and that's what I drive. I don't really like pollution, but I love to drive, see my delima? My greatest passion is Biology, Taxonomy, and Evolution, and believe it or not I am also religious (very liberally of course) I like meeting new people, learning, making things (mods, computers, cars, etc...) and I have a real soft spot for red heads. Well, I suppose I've yammered on more than is wise for a busy wizard and I'm out word remaining.

We will make new creatures where we need them. New orcs, new trolls, cold drakes, fell beasts, etc... Actually I should have posted our creature development models in the screen shot section, but I've been restricting it to mostly in game material. Shots of weapons, character faces, and creatures in next news post ;)

Books will be very important, not only for lore, but the type of "magic" in Middle-earth. There is a detailed post on this in the earlier section.

Moria is very dark, in the book it is said that is was completely and utterly dark with only the light of Gandalf's staff to guide them. I will however lighten up the Moria Shots and then post them side by side with the shots already up so you can compare and see.

Yeah, almost every quest will have companions included, obviously, but not least of all the Fellowship of the Ring quests. The world will be 12x12 quads, or 144 quads total. To put that into scale, Oblivion's world Cyrodiil is 4x4 quads, or 16 total quads, so Middle-earth will be about 9 times bigger than Cyrodiil. It's a pretty unrealistic size in all honesty, but it does offer a good amount of open wilderness :)

Aye indeed, that dwarven architecture we are already using, although retextured to fit lore more. "Pillers as smooth as glass" as it says in the Fellowship of the Ring. The modder that made it, Mr. Siika is a good friend. Thanks indeed none the less.

There are plenty of other "good mods" to play in the meantime, FCOM is a great Overhual/Total Conversion, and of course Midas Magic. If you like quest, there are plenty out there, but keep an eye open :)

We will not abandon this mod! I actually plan to continue to expand it for years and years to come. We will continue to release updated content so that you guys don't have to wait for a "final" release that is likely to never come (since I will always find one more thing to make the mod better). New books with be added to the game, already tens of nearly forty books have been made for Moria alone. We plan to make a vast library for Rivendell as well. I have also written some hobbit fables for homes in the Shire. We will have a ton of good books to read, and good quests to play, many times the two will be woven together. And unlike Oblivion, some books will have a vital purpose. Spell in Oblivion could be bought from any lvl 10 mage. In MERP this will not be so. Enchantment on items such as elven blade, cloaks, armors, etc will one manner of magic, but the more "powerful" spells will be hard labors to gain. Books will teach you these, but you will have to take the books to those that know how to read them before you can unlock their magic. Further more, you have to be capable of "understanding", there fore, if by change (which you probably wont) you are level 1 and come across an incredibly old and rare book of lost lore and magic, you will not be able to use it's full or even partial potential. To cast magics as powerful as Gandalf in the battle against the Balrog, expect to be at least lvl 65 with a lot of spell points and lore already learned. Further more, such magics will be very draining. The most powerful magics will drain all your magic, and even your health! As Gandalf said when he put a block spell on the door in Moria to keep the Balrog from passing, "It used much power, and it almost broke me!" Anyway, that's a mouthful to digest, so I'll leave it at that. :)

Aye, I will be uploading an update that contains the patch and the latest updated work, and with it will come a readme and only one set of data files with no broken data. The forgetfulness of an old wizard is my greatest advisory. I forgot several things when I uploaded the mod, but alas, if you show persistence and use the latter of the set of data files, this mod will work. Sorry for all the confusion, I hope to have it all sorted out soon.

Aye, the prison guards won't come until the dunmer across the cell starts taunting you, so don't start a new game. I have no idea why the hobbit hole isn't there other than perhaps that you installed it incorrectly. It's worked for several other people. The hobbit house does not have an exit ehh? I think I know why, I'll fix it.

Thanks for the nice comments and bug reports.

Make sure you have installed the patch and replaced the old merp02.esp. Check all the mod files in the data files. I will be uploading an update which puts all our current work into one zip with a readme, but not until I finish Rivendell and Mike finishes Arnor.

For now you have to take a door by the Chorrol gates across the road from the stables, but in future versions we will have you start in Middle-earth. I got hasty trying to release the beta on our deadline and oversaw a few things, I'll combine all our work into one download next beta, which will be soon.

I hope we aren't simply the new AME :) I do believe we have a few differences. Our world is a little smaller, and hopefully a little more achievable than AME. The mod is still greatly larger than Oblivion. We plan on implementing several of the quests and modules produced by Iron Crown for their pen and paper RPG MERP (respectively names after) and Rolemaster. We will also be making several releases "along the way" as we develop Middle-earth so that our fans our ensured to get something out of our labors. As we progress Middle-earth will come closer and closer to full splendor until at last you'll be enamored in the world of J.R.R. Tolkien, and craving more. And more is just what we'll give you. We will make numerous quests continually as we get bored and turn our lives to modding ;)
