I'm a lead developer on the HL2 modification Jurassic Life where I model, texture, animate, compile, map, contribute with hopefully good ideas and concepts. Done some basic sound edits, not really worth mentioning, and edited a few scripts. Work on improving our dialogues but we will eventually need help from someone who knows English very well. I'm all over the place so to speak except for coding (c++ lua and such) I'd say.
My first attempt at vegetation. Entire texture was painted with the mouse and from time to time standard PS filter effects were used.
Crazy bump demo used for the normalmap creation.
Phong shader is used.
It's a HLMV preview.
1161 tris (has LOD levels)
not bad at all. the phong looks good on it.
Thanks SinKing. Yeah, phong can give a really nice look but I have learned that it's not always the best choise. I still go with cubemaps for some models. It's also possible to combine them but it's a bit limited. I have had to use the same alpha channel for both cubemap mask and phong mask. So the control of it isn't the best.
