It will be moddable but due to our more complex maps and scripting and 3rd party software it will not be as easy as HL2. That said we have created our own SDK tools that make modding easier in some ways and have managed to make wWise our new sound system moddable which was a close call.
3-4x biggers if you consider the different floors each map has like in apartments and such as well.
Large but there are limits with this Engine. We're not trying to compete with Open World Survivalist (Eat/Drink/etc/quests) genre which I'm still waiting to see if they hit the mark myself eagerly.
Soon most definitely. We've pointed out that we want it to make a big impact and not have the community spoiled early. :)
Sorry you feel that way. It helps to look into games before purchasing them so you don't make false assumptions and end up disappointed. I recommend the following to research-
"Early Access" (Open Beta and not the final product)
Contagion Escape Mode (Nothing is pointless and if you wanted epic story telling we're sorry we left it up to players and randomness to do the job for us which actually required more effort)
Anything Contagion related before Winter Sale :)

Well you should be able to work both in if you're prepared and schedule it (lacking a specific user for PR). Also you should enter whether or not you believe you'll win for what little or great exposure it provides.

It's not an excuse. For some the changes are minor for others they're significant. As for Contagion you'll just have to wait and see for yourself.

The animations were done in a large mocap studio with professional actors. The game-play is a bit higher paced, nothing like L4D and I'm not sure how AI zombies = NMRiH clone. I can say that those from NMRiH that have played it feel differently than you.
Rather than defend the teaser I can only hope you'll be patient enough to see what the game is about and how it really looks when we release our full trailer which was the point of the teaser to highlight.
There is no game like Contagion, we're confident that many will enjoy it and we hope to scratch that itch. But in the end we'll have to wait and see.

This is indeed Source but we gutted quite a bit to build our own system we're confident players will appreciate. Quite a lot isn't shown in this teaser unfortunately but answers are coming :D
I can only hope you're referring to quality and not game-play but again until we get the full trailer out there people will interpret what they see differently per individual.
Some good news. Cause I haven't slept in 2 days I slipped up and started 12 hours early which means I just added another 12 games to my inventory for our INDIE-pendence Day Giveaway! A fan of both games but I was happy with the runners up and winner in nearly every category. Mark of the Ninja is a blast but of course NS2 being a MP game has plenty of replay value as well once you've finished with your MotN unlocks.

This video shows work done for a promo piece and just happens to be our very first session in the studio. Yesterday we recorded the entire day and are now working on cleaning up animations for in-game.
For me it's always been about the setting and a good modern day post apocalyptic setting has a good number of cars and with each environment taking place at a different point in time we get to do a lot of fun stuff with them. The time and work that goes into these assets make them something I love to share.
Still we thought we should share some of the MoCap & SFM this week to show that's not all we're working on. The game is coming along fantastically and we've got a lot of surprises to share throughout December and into the new year.
In other words, I'm selfish and posted what I like to see :D Will be sharing more of what we've been up to soon.

I agree with 3rd as well but have always appreciated those who tell me they'd buy one of my mods if it were on sale. While there are a few exceptions due to extreme changes in development I find it in bad taste to sell a mod. Course in some cases mods can be used as a demo/vertical slice to test the waters before moving forward.
Actually piracy shows your interest in the game and is misleading. Not purchasing the game however makes a clear point that you're not interested in buying their game. Many "pirates" do so to test the water before jumping in and purchasing a game and most companies while trying to fight back (which leads to the **** everyone's bitching about) are still advised whether rightly so or not that piracy suggests more people are likely to buy their games. You're just using an old excuse that doesn't hold much weight.
By definition it is stealing but I assume you're referring to how the law interprets theft and copyright infringement and there even that's debatable (and has been for some time). Self-titled Piracy/Pirates nuff said :)
If you've ever read any of those agreements you click "Agree" to you'd know you're not buying the content but access to interact and view it. No ones rights are being taken. Pirating is only making things even more difficult for users so you're basically saying you support creating the problems that led to your support in the first place. Also, people don't pirate for the reasons you stated they pirate because it's easy, free, and will use any excuse they can. I'm not saying the guys behind the game are angels but there are a lot of innocent developers and gamers getting screwed over by those you support.
Everyone stating piracy is ok due to the constraints - piracy leads to piracy. I mean come on :P You guys gotta stop pretending to be victims when it's really the actions of pirates who are creating the problems. If your were to "borrow" the game for a demo, find you like it. Buy it, if you don't like it uninstall and don't buy it.
You can't justify piracy. The companies have money but you're hurting developers and gamers. You are a bigger problem then these companies. End this isn't the Robin Hood system. If you're selfishly stealing for yourself. It's not food, water, or shelter. It's someones work and entertainment. It'd be like stealing your neighbors entertainment system because he can afford it and doesn't use it enough in your opinion. But because it's digital we ignore that and pretend we're not hurting others or ourselves when that's exactly what pirates are doing.

First you say you pirate to "demo" a game before you buy it (I completely understand and have stated such). But then you pirate games from a publisher you hate for whatever reason and whether or not you like the game decide against purchasing it and instead finish the game.
People seem to forget that you're hurting hard working developers along with the HATED Studio/Publisher. It's immature and it's still ******* theft. No excuse for that.
And you're wrong about piracy. We developers care, long time gamers who have seen the damage it's caused care, and people who aren't sticking their fingers in their ears and TROLOLOLOLOLOLing care.
I'm just shocked by the response. I don't mind being down voted but I'm confused as to why. Do the majority really agree that pirating games has in any way improved conditions for us gamers? They cause considerable harm and force developers to find new ways to fight against piracy. I just assume people are spoiled and don't like being called on it.

So you're saying that developers don't need to get paid? That Blizzard should make free games? I'm not saying I agree with their decisions being a modder for 15 years and not a fan of selling items for $ (which was done long before now in D1 and 2) which has gradually become acceptable by the new generation of gamers (Miss the days when you had to earn it instead of parents buying it for you) heh. I'm always online so the online requirement isn't hurting me but I still agree that it's something easily disliked for obvious reasons. NONE of that excuses piracy. The only good excuse I've ever heard was "Wow, that was a great game, i'm definitely gonna buy it now" demo. Would prefer companies release more demos but like others I don't like to rush in eyes closed and buy a game for $50-60 heh
People up voting piracy? You've got to be pretty immature to think stealing a game is okay just because you can't "mod" it or for any reason beyond "Prefer to demo before I buy".
I'm not a huge fan of the decision but to be surprised at companies being "greedy" or rephrased as "want to make more money" is silly as that's usually the point. If you don't like it don't buy it.

I read in one of the image comments "srsly 8 pictures of a kitchen" just goes to show that you sometimes have to explain to non-modders/developers that you're showing off what you've managed to do in a dated engine and I see more than a kitchen I see a lot of work and it being presented well. Steam installs in a separate directory than Desura which installs directly to the Sourcemods folder. Both versions will work fine. If you have both versions installed you will see 2 "Zombie Panic: Source" listings in Steam. I'm a big fan of Desura and is just another great way to introduce future fans to ZPS.
I have to agree. With my schedule I don't often get to play much these days but i'll hear news of a game soon to be released or catch a release and make a mental note to try it over the weekend but I always forget I have no weekends. It usually takes another big announcement that's just perfectly timed, or a friend like Henley who asks me what I think planting that seed of guilt "You're no longer a gamer!" but am grateful that others remember for me :(

No offense, but that might get a bit tedious and the lack of presentation may very well hurt your project. Might I suggest EOMBJMB! (Every Other Month Beyond Jupiter Media Blast!) or just called it Beyond Jupiter's Bi-Monthly Media Blast! Just a suggestion :) As for weekly, possibly toss together a developers blog and add some details as to the model. Remember to link to the blog bi-monthly! Hope that helps.
Was a bit confused as to whether this was an adult themed black jack game until I read even further and ignored the 3 images that were provided. Sounds somewhat like a Devil May Cry Stripper side scroller (with possible black jack?). If it's anything like metroidvania or anywhere near as awesome as Aquaria (with darker and adult oriented themes) I'm looking forward to it however with 3 images (that are a bit confusing) and very little info, it may have been a better idea to possibly wait a little longer till reveal? Either way, will track this in the hopes of an incredible MetroidVania DMC! Oh and let's hope the bun bun bunny theme is left to long ponytails and possible "Playboy" references, just personal preference it not go into the realm of Furry or annoying Japanese cuteness heh.

Took the words right out of my mouth Wills. Infinity is my pick but I worry that it's too ambitious but if it were to work as advertised then it would blow away any game to date. Xeno Clash feels more tangible and looks incredible described as Wills put it.

Actually Japanese drinks come in small and large even today. Usually you'll find the smaller drinks for coffee or hot tea.
All we've said so far is that the winner will win a shirt. Whether we approach the winner or not about selling the design will be left up to later and handled properly if so.
This is more of an announcement of our intent to offer a Limited Edition ZPS shirt and get the community who aren't level designers something to do as well.

Yeh this is not a bug and is in fact intentional to prevent exploits. However this doesn't effect a proper/well thought out barricade
If you boarded yourself into a room, would just mean no escape for you once the zombies break the cades. Though you can also pick up cades after placing them so long as they aren't damaged first.
They're new player models and not replacements :)
Nicely done! Love zombie mods and would like to see more! (Be honest there are plenty announced but so few good ones released :P) Definitely tempted to pick up my own copy of Max Payne 2 just for the mods alone.

Copy and Paste doesn't always work and can lead to stretching and require you to do it over. Also stacking makes baking shadows, details, normals complicated or impossible. So it's good to learn how to do it like this as well. Good tut, might be a good idea to continue with a series of UV tuts on more complicated models.

All very flattering comparisons. But again, you're seeing a teaser which is short lived and meant to grab some attention for the date listed. We almost certain you'll feel differently when we release our full trailer. I can only hope that will be the case as the game plays and feels nothing like the games you've listed.
I can't get into too many details but our pre-pre-prototype we had inmates that would run from zombies but assault players. We have quite a lot of plans post-release. Already have work done on game-modes as well we're certain will keep players happy. (All free of course so long as we can afford to move forward with it).
Game-play and missions are nothing like L4D. Objective mode which we call Escape-mode would be the closest but everything from spawning to pathing is randomly generated per round and the worlds aren't as linear. Also our zombies don't react the same. Valve wanted an action CS like experience for the general public and did a fantastic job. We want a more survival-horror feel that we will continue to tweak post-release. No heat seeking zombies AI.
I'm quite the fan of NMRiH's hard work so please bring on the comparisons. This map however is inspired by locations we've lived in and a specific iconic location for us.
The Scope posed quite an issue with a number of shaders. We were determined to resolve this and Dec did a fantastic job working non-stop.
The Comic will continue soon. We're just focused on getting things released and Joe has been playing a major role in that not having the time to focus on the Comic at my request. He's eager to get back to it though.
NMRiH developers would disagree :) The games are completely different, in fact there is no game like Contagion currently available. We're confident you'll feel differently once we reveal our Official Contagion Full length trailer.
Also I wouldn't put it that way, the guys on NMRiH did a heck of a job. They just don't have full access to the latest Engines so they can gut it like we did and rebuild more than enough to nearly give it a new Engine name heh.
Started on doom then it really picked up on Quake and so on.

Quite a few ppl thought they were so we've reached out to those groups to clear it up. Still a full days worth of games being given out. Last game goes out midnight of the 4th of July (PST) So check every hour on the hour to see if you've been picked and have a free game waiting.

We will be releasing a set number of keys for a sample group. The number of keys will be limited and exclusive to the Steam Group as we're trying to better organizing our communication with the community.
We're also trying to grow the group through friends inviting friends rather than joining a large group and inviting strangers.
Requesting a key will not earn you a key no. But for those that don't receive one we are seriously considering early access.

There was a mixup and splitscreen is not something we currently support but after someone else (or you on Steam Discussion) brought it up we are looking into the possiblity while also looking to fix tags in the meantime.
We have not announced a price yet but as an Indie I'd expect a reasonable and affordable price and we're also looking into setting up Early Access on Steam. Once we've got a price in place we will let you all know immediately.

To be clear why it's up as "Coming Soon" and not Early Access is that it's not ready for that but we had to have it live to enter into PAX10's Indie Competition. We'll be providing udpates showing major changes to the game shortly that are not yet available as well as gameplay and more media before/when we setup a method to pre-order/early access with reviews ready from reliable sources to help people decide on purchase.

Each game is a unique experience and random avoiding linear game-play. So no it's not linear :)

Each vehicle was done by the same artist and scaled to the reference vehicles and one another. Here are some images that should clear up concerns-

Contagion may be Full Released but we have our budget set aside to continue working on the game for a good long time while including our Free DLC (New characters, weapons, maps, and game-modes). This may or may not help - Steamcommunity.com
Animations are limited by the current system but we're working on a more advanced layer system for the 1000+ Player/AI Survivor and Zombie animations that we will continue to add in with our updates like the SDK for our modders this Sunday. We couldn't hide behind "Early Access" forever and are use to ppl ignoring the AAA bugs and forgetting we don't have their numbers or budget. Still I understand your view point and promise you won't feel that way for long. We're quite dedicated.

We do not currently have a release date but when we have one it'll be hard to miss and listed on our profile. It is an Indie game and not a mod. As for the AI I'm sure you'd feel differently if you had a chance to play but we're still in Alpha so the final product should feel just about right for most.

As we stated in the description everything you see has been updated, as for the number of zombies I set a limit through our unique spawning system for sake of convenience and again not to reveal too much. As for damage while it's still being tweaked zombies are quite tough but you'll notice I aim for the head which we felt was important when every bullet will count and you won't have all that ammo sitting around. Though that being said again we do have an Ideas & Suggestions thread Monochrome-games.com for exactly this sort of post so it doesn't get lost in traffic. We look forward to revealing more soon.

Was a big fan of the mod Age of Chivalry and this definitely looks like a much more attractive version. Will definitely keeping an eye out for a demo/free weekend *hint hint* to see what else is new. Congrats and keep up the great work.
We did this to both support Desura and for those who prefer it. We will continue to update both Steam and Desura with future patches, it's up to you which to use. I think Desura is a great application and appreciate it's goals and honestly don't see the harm.

Would be interesting to learn more about the team, goals, and what you're looking for in regards to development. It also helps if you post whether it's a paid position or not (though I assume like my own Corporation our initial game is out of pocket and not yet funded like so many Indies). Could be to feel the waters in an attempt to gauge interest, provoke curiosity in people like Moci so one may be talked in helping develop the project, or just creating a profile so it's there with the bare minimum and ready for when they put out proper announcements and/or media. Though I agree it does feel a bit early since a lot more could be done by a writer alone.

Remember guys this is here as a resource and just to emphasize what others may be thinking there are other methods of rigging and in fact our in-game weapons were all rigged and animated by Swolf while this tutorial was done by Marks the man behind all our weapon models in the hope of helping those interested in learning. Dys...Eufloria would be my choice. Zeno Clash was attractive and definitely original but I lost interest fairly quickly. Eufloria is both unique and provides plenty of entertainment. Was a great idea.

He was asked to reskin (what you see is the reskin) so it didn't make it into this patch but will be available for v2.1 in maps. Will be hitting you up soon razor but now I must sleep x.x appreciate the compliment :D

Nope, when zombie died a lil cube would drop. You could pick it up and it would show up in first person as zombie hands. heh though it was fixed (broken) so it's no longer avail :)
Funny in early testing you could pick up the zombie arms when they died and use em as weapons heh
No but seriously, talked to some of the other developers and i'm very very excited to try out their mods once released on steam.

I'm personally gonna play _Not my mod_ first. Honestly I've missed 2 titles of the 5 only because I've spent all my time working, modding, or raising my kids. But will definitely be trying them all out this weekend.

Thought it interesting that this would rank #1 today on Valentines day. Exactly 1 month from V-day is White Day in Japan. I wonder if its the same in Korea. The mod looks great, could use some work on textures, level design, and sounds but the over all atmosphere is great and very creepy. I love the style and can't wait to see more soon.
I know there are a few "mods" imitating Zombie Panic for Half-Life. Including Zombie Survival. I was pointing out that I thought it funny that our Source version should be accused of imitating mods that imitated the mod that started it all which is ZP.
Yes, but Zombie Panic: Source has taken the time to resolve this issue (vets grabbing all the best weapons). As for head shots being the only means to killing a zombie, it may be the most popular way but isn't the only.
Yes it is a Kukri machete thus why I labeled a machete and not knife. But always a pleasure for those who try to educate.
