Well it is an idea for sure, but as you've already figured out from your post above, that is a lot of work. Our energies are currently focused on Hoth (also a lot of work), so I don't see us tackling this any time soon. Though there might be other exciting space based maps on the horizon.

Yeah, the launcher should be somewhere else, but the mod itself should be within the mod folder within BF2142.

Heading on now for a couple of games, either on Rebel Defiance or BI depending on numbers.

Make sure your copy of BF2142 is correct first, essentially you want to make sure you are running the correct final patch for the game (there were several released by EA), the right one should be just less than 2GB, If you have the right final patch, check the link in the post below to the FS forums client support boards for further troubleshooting info.

Indeed they did, it all came down to the last battle of the campaign, whoever won that would win the war, and with 200 tickets to play with the Rebels were in the lead up to the point when there were 30 tickets remaining, and then the Imperials made an impressive comeback winning by less than 10 tickets if I remember correctly. Truly it doesn't come much closer than that.

Good games all, and well done all who played.

The mostly black screen sounds like you might need to set your draw distance to 100%, especially if these are the space maps you're talking about. The lack of a HUD issue is not something I've come across myself, but ensure you're running a bang up to date version of BF2142 with the correct final patch (should be just under 2GB) and that you're running First Strike version 1.55, look to this guide I've linked to from the FS Forums Client Support Boards for more info and troubleshooting tips.

For the last battle of the campaign we might think about forgoing the registration process to get the maximum number of players on there. However the server will still be locked, so head over to the NIC forums to express your interest, you'll also need Teamspeak for communication. Head on to Black Intel's TS server to get details on the game server password and what faction you'll be assigned to.

The last battle is at 7:30pm GMT this Sunday, so come along, the more the merrier.

These events seem doomed to failure, last night was some technical problem that took down the website temporarily, typically a few minutes before the event was due to take place. Unfortunately the launcher is tied into the website so the failure of this meant people were unable to boot up the mod, unless they went through BF2142 and used the community tab to launch the mod.

It is just really unlucky with the timing, but now we're back up and running, and tonight's campaign games should go ahead as scheduled.

See you then.

Okay guys, typically we have had some technical difficulties tonight. Our website server has gone down for some reason, this causes an issue as our mod's launcher connects to it on launch and will not work without it. Anyone who is a tester can get around this by using the new launcher to bypass this problem as it doesn't need to connect to our server, don't worry, we intend to release this new launcher to the public once we have given it a thorough testing.

For now though, public players can circumvent the launcher by going through the community tab in BF2142 which gives you the option to launch a mod. So this is a route you can use to get in game. Apologies for the problems, unfortunate timing with technical issues I'm afraid.

Yeah, have been quite disappointed with the turn out to these events actually. Have not been at them all (was away for some of the holidays), but even the ones I was at didn't have great if any attendance. Quite a shame really. The last one this Saturday will hopefully buck this trend, being a Saturday night it should be convenient for people in most time zones. I'm not usually about on a Saturday night (GMT), but will make the extra effort to be there this weekend (besides it is the bleak month of January, nobody wants to go out on grim nights like these), best to stay in doors wrapped up warm with a good piping hot game of First Strike.

Also don't forget that this weekend sees the continuation of the NIC Campaign games on Sunday, so if you're registered for that don't forget to sign up for this week's games.

See you then.

I was there a little later tonight, looks like I just missed you. Unfortunately it seems to have been a bit of a non-event this evening with only a few people turning up.

Let's make a little extra effort and get as many people as possible turning up for some games on the final holiday event this Saturday.

Also don't forget that the campaign starts up again this Sunday as well.
