Heh heh, sure looks that way doesn't it? Basically Yavin is a defense map for the Empire, so with low numbers it can be quite difficult to defend on that map. Becomes more balanced when you have greater numbers. We tend to make the final map worth big points to keep things interesting, but going from these results I guess we'll have to stop doing that.

Congrats to the Rebels!

That pesky battle station scuppered the Empire yet again. The Emperor would like to get in contact with the Death Star's lead designers, and the chief contractors who worked on the construction of the Empire's pride and joy for a quiet chat.

It is Lord Starkiller, believe me, especially with a high volume of players. The 64 player version for example adds some of the capital ships featured in Battle of Taloraan into the mix. Check out the video section for footage of Escape From Hoth and some of our other maps in action.

Thanks for the compliments on the stories, they're doing their job then. They're based in part on the background fictions for the maps in question, but also on actual events which have occurred in the rounds played. I for example was the demolitions trooper on the Bestine blowing up Rebel Freerunners. It just helps to illustrate how much fun the game is and the exciting possibilities offered up by the gameplay. All being well it should encourage more people to give it a try.

Additionally if you like the stories you can find more examples on the First Strike forums, some by myself and others by FSDev Twigs who has written some absolute corkers that are well worth a read.

Welcome to the mod JonasOvrum and Puttzy. I hope you enjoy the fruits of our labour.

There are currently weekly events taking place as part of the campaign which his hosted every Sunday at 8pm BST(British Summertime). For this event you can either sign up and become a registered player, or just turn up on the night and be assigned to whichever team is most in need of players.

There are currently no clans affiliated with the mod at this time, as it has been a while since our last release, though we still do see clan members playing from clans once affiliated with the mod such as BI and RSF.

Currently our on-line playerbase is fairly low, but we hope that will improve with future releases, Hoth being something that a lot of people are eager to see from us. Mostly people play during the Sunday night events, but also Saturday night sees some action.

I hope that answers all your questions, and I look forward to seeing you guys on Sunday for some games.

After some issues this weekend, mostly due to quite low numbers, (one Rebel, Zaphod possibly playing as Dak "I feel I can take on the whole Empire myself" Ralter).

But also some technical issues, some players couldn't log on to the server, and I had some issues of my own (I had a bizarre crash which wiped out all my game settings after the first round). We have had to postpone the event.

So now Round: 4 will instead be held next weekend. So this will feature the same maps as highlighted in last week's Campaign Results Update. So that will be the maps Endor Strike Team & Clearing, plus the space map Strike at Parmel, so don't miss it guys. Should be good, if we can get the numbers together.

Yeah, the light applications are a little too heavy handed, perhaps adjusting the levels in PS will give you a subtler effect more in keeping with how it looks in the movies. With a little tweaking it should look spot on. How does the light side look? Be interesting to see what colour you use to deal with all that global urbanisation.

We ran it a slightly different way to the campaign events we've had in the past, so we'd consider your feedback valuable. What worked? What didn't? Give us your opinions, and ideas on how we could make the event better/attract new people etc. Or just give us a pat on the back if you thought it was just perfect as it was. It's all useful information that might get acted upon next time we run the event.

Good games tonight, could have still done with greater numbers, but was fun never the less. Was also nice to get in a few non-official games after the campaign matches had been played. We reminded ourselves how good 32 player Ryloth and Bandomeer is, we should definitely play these more, perhaps for the next campaign we should use the 32 player maps instead of the 16?

Oh, and we also put paid to the myth that Rebels cannot win Rhen Var: Research 16 player tonight, with the Imperial team taking the Rebel faction out for a little apres campaign spin, and yes, we won the map as Rebels, so yeah, it isn't easy, but it can be done.
So now we can look forward to the endgame of the campaign next week, with just the one official map to be played. Yavin.

See you there.

Good conclusion to the Citadel Trilogy this week, though you did wonder how they were going to fit all the action necessary to wrap it up into one episode, what with a fleet battle in space and the continuing escape and pursuit on the surface, but it worked and didn't feel as rushed as I thought it might. Also a nice touch with a key character meeting his maker, explaining why he doesn't appear in Episode III. I also liked the way tension between Palpatine and the Jedi is becoming worse as time goes on, with the Chancellor specifically commanding Tarkin to deliver the intel directly to him rather than the Jedi. Obviously as I suggested earlier this'll be how the Separatists gain access to the intel which allows them to attack Coruscant in the opening scenes of Episode III. Very good set of episodes, really looking forward to what they pull out of the bag to top it for the series finale, the big hairy walking carpet being introduced should help.

No need to make servers, the only change required is that the servers update to BF2142 1.51, the First Strike code stays the same. More of an issue is availability of Linux (which a lot of servers use) unranked server files for 1.51, but the links for these files are starting to surface now, so anyone running a First Strike/BF2142 server using Linux should now be able to update their server.

Interestingly it looks like there will be two versions, one with an older looking Ewan McGregor portrait and one with a younger looking Alec Guinness likeness. Looks like either will be a great addition to anyone's Star Wars collection.

Why thank you for your kind comment. Yes, the relatively small community of BF2142 has worked against us some, but a lot of people have bought the game purely on the back of First Strike (I know I did ;)) which is encouraging. With more media exposure lately new people have been joining our little community every day so we are definitely growing that is for sure. I guess Rome wasn't built in a day, as the saying goes, and we will just keep working at it improving the mod, making it more stable, tweak the current assets and gameplay, and obviously add more content. I believe when Hoth arrives we'll see an unpresidented surge in our community as that is like the Holy Grail of Star Wars based combat locales, and believe me that is not that far away now. So we'll keep you posted on that one, and there is more stuff coming in the meantime too so there is still very much to see from First Strike yet.
