Freelance 3D modeller and games artist. Commenced my games industry career over 10 years ago, starting out at Warthog on the sci-fi FPS Mace Griffin: Bounty Hunter, and a space shooter of Battlestar Galactica. Most recently worked in house for Sumo Digital on a Tennis release for Sega, Virtua Tennis 2009 for PS3, Xbox 360 & the Wii, and I also worked on Sonic & Sega All-Star Racing. I have recently begun to teach 3D modelling and how that relates to games at several educational institutions including the University of Bolton on a part-time basis. Mod work includes development team leader, lore advice and modelling work for the Battlefield 2142 Star Wars themed mod First Strike.

Digging deep into our archives I found a solution to the missing mouse cursor/pointer problem, though not sure if this is going to help you or not. Back in the day this issue was caused by not having BF2142 bang up to date, it occurred when you didn't have the BF2142 1.5 update installed, updating this fixed the problem, but I have to assume you all have that now. Best bet is to make sure that your BF2142 has all the correct final updates. You can find links to these over on the FSMod forums.

Well that's really nice to hear. It is good to know our hard work is appreciated. As I've said earlier, we as a dev team will look at our options and see where we can go from here. We aim to have some news out on this subject soon.

On another note, I hope the new DICE made Battlefront will be a different animal to the latest Battlefields and not just a Star Wars reskin of that game. I hope they'll take what was good in the original Battlefront, the grittiness of Battlefield, and maybe even take on a little of what we have done over the years and craft something really special.

Time will tell.

I'm not a coder, so don't know the ins and outs of it, but I do remember that the walker enabling code was one of the key features that lead to us switching up to BF2142. As apparently the solutions they had to come up with via rotational bundles or something to facilitate Walkers in BF1942 for GC was a proper nightmare to implement.

That is a possible solution and may gain us new players from the larger BF2 mod playing community (in fact FS was originally being developed for BF2), however there are issues with key features from BF2142 which are used in FS, namely the code that facilitates walking mechs which we obviously make use of for our Imperial Walkers.

Anyhow, hope to see you guys around this evening for some space based fragging. Should be on from 8pm BST (British Summer Time) onwards.

We are in the process of getting into talks with them, not sure if there will be added complications due to us being for BF2142 rather than BF2, but once we get a full dialogue going with them we'll be able to see exactly what our options are, and then we'll let everyone know how we plan to proceed.

Sorry it has taken us so long to respond. I've been extremely busy with work over these last few weeks, just sucky timing.

Nice concept and modelling, but a few issues stand out if this is meant to be a smallish bull-pup weapon. The trigger guard and trigger assembly are just way too small for the scale you should be looking at, you'd have to have the fingers of a small child to get your digits in there, so in my opinion that detail is the first thing you need to address. Other than that I'm really digging the design. As well as the design cues mentioned by others it reminds me of the future phased plasma pulse rifles used by the T-800s in the first Terminator movies, you should definitely check that out if you haven't already.

Yeah, you just need to make sure you check same mod and same version in the server browser settings. And yes, unfortunately the multiplayer does seem a little dead at the moment (perhaps we just made the Singleplayer too good?), we have a few things in need of attention first, and then we'll look to address this by getting a campaign event going, these tend to do a good job of drawing people out to play regularly.

Not sure about the DICE news. How do you mean an overhaul? Changes to the games themselves, or something to do with allowing them to function without the need for GameSpy?
