Hello there, I'm Jen and I'm Ori's girl. Got questions to ask? PM or comment. I am a French-Britt trying to learn Serbian, got a passion for gaming and playing them 'till as much as I can. Report RSS Save MERP - A Lord of The Rings based Mod for The Elder Scrolls Series

Posted by on

Please save Middle-Earth Role Playing Project - A LoTR based project for The Elder Scrolls series from a cease and desist order by Warner Bros. They are the current owners of the Lord of The Rings intellectual property. They can't just force a fan-based mod to stop just because they owned it or whatever their intents and purposes are. The mod has been in development for years and the team won't just leave all their work behind for nothing.

The petition background:
"MERP is a Lord of the Rings total conversion for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim made, non for profit, by volunteers in their spare time. The current version of the mod has been running since 2008, and since then has grown substantially and the team has quickly become one of the largest and most ambitious teams in modding.

As of 2012 the team ported the mod to the newest Elder Scrolls game from its predecessor, Oblivion. Since the move the team has built up a huge following due to its quality and ambition. This rise in popularity has also drawn the eyes of Warner Bros. who currently hold the rights to The Lord of the Rings in gaming, who then issued the MERPteam a cease and desist letter."

Please draw attention and support the MERP Development Team! They need all the help they can get. Sign the petition and help convince Warner Bros to allow free community-based contents based on The Lord of The Rings series to go on as it should. J.R.R. Tolkien would be disgusted to see what Warner Bros did if he was still alive.

I agree, J.R.R Tolkien wouldn't like that. I understand that this is an industry and it's not the perfect world, but as an open-world single-player RPG, it doesn't compete directly with any of their LotR games. Signed the petition and boycotting the Warner Bros games.
