After my first experience with online games in 2000 I've build up and successfully ran several large online clans. In 2001 climbed up the ladder in Starlancer and managed to become one of the most successful players worldwide in that game aswell as leader of the largest clan. Since that I stuck to the Sci-fi game genre. In 2002 the SWAT Portal was founded and since that I am leading this Sci-fi Game Portal that supports a large range of games. One of these games is Freelancer. Not long after its release in 2003 I've started modding the game (my modding experiences with other games reach back to 1993 where I've created my first work). Until now I've created 4 Freelancer mods and assisted countless of other Mod projects. The Crossfire Mod which is currently my main project keeps holding the Top position of the Freelancer mods for several years. Most important for me is the success of the SWAT Community and its members aswell as professional work.

the launcher does not force you to update nor does it force you to go to an internet site for any voting stuff

Next to that is Crossfire a MP mod in first place. The SP part is only a bonus part for the members of our community.
And the launcher update is for the fact that this is a BETA VERSION and for sure its no infinte loop... it does a few updates and then stops when finished.

Actually we tested the mission on a normal playthrough and had no problems with the requirements.
There are so many new ways to make money in this mod that it used to fit perfectly.

Huor certainly can help you with that.

as for the black screen... that happens when your PC disallows the installer to do neccessary settings (e.g. UAC can prevent that the installer runs correctly -> we have no influence on such security settings on client PCs).
You can manually bypass the problem by right-clicking the freelancer.exe -> properties -> compatibility -> disable desktop composition. Or you simply run the game in window mode.
Every mod would run into that problem with active shaders... thats normal for all windows version since vista.

It is adviced to use FLMM 1.31 since its the last version which could correctly use scripts. However i doubt that a missing dll can be explained with that.

Well, movies.dll is a file of the original Freelancer (we didn't even touch that). If its missing then your game installation must have been wrong. In this case it wouldn't surprise me if you experience crashes.

You dont have to donate anything... and we dont have to rush for a few ppl which dont even appreciate thousands of hours hard work.
The fact that this is a free time project is totally ignored buy you guys. This means... we work on the mod when we have time for it... when we dont have time for it we cant work on it.
The project was slowed down by:
- 1 month i-net probs due to incompetent t-com
- rl probs of one of our coders
- extended rl job working hours
- several online attacks on our server and website in the past months
- many additional features and changes which we introduced by request of our community
- the idiotic beef of some ppl here at moddb that have nothing else to do than to disturb us

Bad planning and organization? Clearly not.
You can not plan anything of that. You can not say "hey in 2 months my internet will die and in 4 months a new discovery will allow us to make our mod even better". Thats not now it works. Not even the most professional company could predict such stuff.
And you can not expect that our team members work 8 hours per day guaranteed on the mod... its not our main job.
If you know someone who could do our job better than us... well... there are none.

This stupid complaining is so idiotic. The development of the Freelancer game environment took more than 6 years.... and you complain about a few months of justified delay on a project that is 9-10 times bigger than the original game?

There is a massive update for the Altair and Inner core systems planned including a similar faction environment as in sirius.

While i wouldnt deny that, purple is a very common spectral color in space with a very short wave length (high energy). Hydrogen has a mostly purple emission spectrum.... with a bit of red and blue.

But dont worry, there are many other colors present in the systems.

1.The step of difficulty.
Balancing is a tricky thing. 30% say it is too hard, 20% say it is too easy and the rest considers it good the way it is.
Who is right and who is wrong?
During the past 4 years the difficulty scale for low level players has been decreased 3 times meanwhile.
Personally I think that the game is balanced very well for new players and was wondering why some players said that everything is too hard.
So I asked some of these players to send me their singleplayer savegame from the point that they consider too hard.
Five different players which had problems at 3 different missions.
All chars with pretty good ships relative good equipment.
When I started to play these missions with these chars I ran practically in the same problems that the players had.
All of the savegames had one thing in common: terrible weapon setups. These players of course used guns with heavy damage, but with completely different projectile speeds. Then they wonder that they can not hit and that it takes so long to kill a ship. It is no surprise that they run into problems since the target indicator only works for one of the projectile speeds and all other gun shots miss their target.
In the end Ive bought different weapons for these players and sent the savegames back -> a solved problem.

What I wanted to say is that balancing is more than just setting difficulty scales and in the end you will for sure never be able to please everyone.

Your suggestion is pretty interesting and for sure we will consider it.
We also don't have an answer to everything and are willing to try something new.
Your observation about the mission difficulty is in my eyes quiet correct and if I see a chance to change it in the described way I will invest the necessary time.
The mission in coaltion space should actually work. They were not working a few months ago but that got fixed long ago.

Your suggestion will clearly considered as I believe it is a good way to push this area of the game again.

problem is that Hour took these shots from a tool that does not display the textures correctly. Ingame and with the modeling software this stuff looks perfect while the quality here is... well... not that good at all.

Oh we can.
That mod is in development for one year already and being promoted under that name since then. Its not even the same game.
IF I wouldnt be allowed to use that name i could go to all mods with the name "crossfire" here on moddb and tell them to choose a different name.

you can get close to it (if you survive the alien attacks) but you wont be able reach it since it has radial damage zones which get stronger when you get closer to the core

That system is very important for the Crossfire story - but i dont want to spoil too much

I have warned the FL community about the GLS shutdown already 1 year ago and the community ignored it. And i have said that my server community does not need to worry about it since i have a working GLS bypass.
Well the GLS is offline... and the players of my server didn't even notice it while players from other servers started to cry "where is my server".
MY claim about the GLS shutdown was right even if nobody else wanted to believe it at that time. MY claim to have a GLS bypass was right even if nobody else wanted to believe it.

The stuff that has been posted above by Goodone does not say that we claim to have a copyright on that tool. He claimed that SWAT does offer a way to "replace" or "bypass" the GLS on the SWAT Portal and that is the pure truth.
No words about copyright or that we created the tool that is needed to use this "replacement".
