After my first experience with online games in 2000 I've build up and successfully ran several large online clans. In 2001 climbed up the ladder in Starlancer and managed to become one of the most successful players worldwide in that game aswell as leader of the largest clan. Since that I stuck to the Sci-fi game genre. In 2002 the SWAT Portal was founded and since that I am leading this Sci-fi Game Portal that supports a large range of games. One of these games is Freelancer. Not long after its release in 2003 I've started modding the game (my modding experiences with other games reach back to 1993 where I've created my first work). Until now I've created 4 Freelancer mods and assisted countless of other Mod projects. The Crossfire Mod which is currently my main project keeps holding the Top position of the Freelancer mods for several years. Most important for me is the success of the SWAT Community and its members aswell as professional work.

You can try changing the shaders on the launcher options. But to be honest this sounds like some textures went missing during the installation.

The ships are not broken, their cockpits are just too small for the pilot mesh. For most ships we found a solution but not for all since it is more important to keep the balance of the ships (not to make them too big in general) and to keep the original design which is intentional since these are Starlancer ships that are supposed to look like that (details are explained via story).
Dunno what you mean with the weapon placement. We have a bunch of players which tested all ships and their hardpoints and already we already made corrections based on their input.

I dont think you need that additional step with the cheap ship.

try lowering your settings on the options
some systems can be a bit more resource demanding

no, and disabling the mod with FLMM wont work since FLMM deactivation function actually isnt working correctly on large mods

thats not possible
cruise speed is tied to the engine of the ship
upgrades are not possible

1. Ive just checked that shipyard and can not reproduce the crash issue. I do not get any crashes there.

2. The original Cuise speed is 300. In Crossfire the cruise got increased to 450 which is reasonal and already adresses the size of the systems. Depending on ship classes the speed can be even higher (scouts and light fighters have higher speeds).
There are special ships which can even reach 900 cruise speed but actually that speed is way too fast to navigate through specific areas of the game (so these ships are usually off limits to ordinary players in SP). Such high speeds also would cause conflicts with timed triggers of the story campaign.

3. Are there other mods compatible with Crossfire? -> No
Other mods would overwrite important settings and will only cause crashes, instabilities and problems with the storyline.
Next to that do we not give any support to people which alter the original Crossfire files.

It does, 41 new missions.
They start right after mission 13 and continue the original storyline.

Either this (vanilla) file is missing or you dont have the permission to write that file in that directory.

The 16 files belong to the daily updates (thats normal). They are not big (just a few kb).

That doesnt change the fact that files have to be downloaded when we do updates to the mod.

We use Launcher and updater for many years meanwhile and it always did its job perfectly.
The only reason I can imagine is that some software on your PC prevents the launcher to write the files correctly. Once a player had similar problem where a security tool always restored the original files from a backup source.
It also might be that there are security settings which prevent that the launcher can write files on your HDD.
You also should check if the files in your FL directory are maybe write protected for some reason.

Like I said... the launcher does its job perfectly (unless other programs cause a mess).

Also needs to be mentioned that once a day there is an update which requires the player to restart Freelancer in order to get the latest market information and the states of the dynamic economy. That update is announced on the console.

I dont know why it is slow for you. The files are on a high-end server hosted with a 100mbit connection.
It is not possible to mail the files to you since the launcher checks your installation and decides which files it needs. Some of the files are a bit larger (20-50mb). So they could take a bit longer to download.

every npc ship has a pilot setting e.g. "pilot = freighter_easy"
and they should have repair_id (or not -> depening on their purpose)

Reply Good karma+2 votes
SWAT_OP-R8R
SWAT_OP-R8R @ Crossfire 2.0

You have to make sure that the ship has bats/bots as cargo (npcships).
You need to have the repairblock entry and make sure that the pilot makes use of that repairblock as repair id.

If the freighters still dont repair you should try to turn their settings into fighters (in shiparch.ini). If they start repairing after that change the problem most likely is related to the stategraph setting in the AI folder.

yes its 2017... and there never will be a torrent of it for the fact that we have to do updates which you cant do on torrents since you have absolutely no control over who is hosting it... what is being hosted... and if the downloaded data actually is what it was meant to be. It is not possible to give players support if they download the mod from a torrent source.

We have two official download sources which get updated by us when required. Both sites host exactly the same download file.
After ~50.000 downloads I havent heard a single person complain about malicious stuff.
Funny is that Chrome only complains when downloading the file from moddb. When I try to download exactly the same file from Swat-portal.com
everything works and all of a sudden its not a malicious file anymore.
But... yeah... that Chrome. (terrible browser and definitely no working security tool)

due to the dynamic economy and dynamic universe (which i will introduce soon) the client and server versions have to run synchronized.

Id blame the microsoft account. My hotmail account also seems to eat mails from specific sources.
Dunno why.

I have activated your account manually now.
Reason for the restriction is pretty simply... the SWAT Portal is a community... not a wiki. We want active users which communicate.
Next to that are read permissions bound to specific usergroups due to the fact that we support multiple games.

no, the mod manager is just there to get the mod activated correctly. There is no way to download mods with it.

The latest download from here is +1 year old. In the meantime a large amount of patches and new content was released on the fly to the users via the launcher. Every few weeks minor patches and updates get released. And there is a daily update to syncronize the market (and soon the dynamic universe) with the server.

it could be that your internet connection has packet losses and thus the files get damaged while downloading. You could try downloading the mod using a download manager and/or you can try to download the mod from our filebase at www.swat-portal.com
