Just another dood on ModDB :D.
Excuse me, I have played System Shock 2!
Read the update at the top of the article.
Thank you! Please, please, please comment more to add some balance to the discussions :P
After all this discussion, you guys are still focusing on the tool itself. You guys worry about the outpouring of noob maps -- look around ModDB! Tons of noob crap everywhere.
Some of you talk about options with SDK's, yet how many mods truly utilize those options and create something truly different? Limits often can encourage creativity.
Well Sandbox 2 is a full editing suite, this will just be a level editor.
It has to do with you browser permissions and how it handles different file types.
Sounds like someone else:
"I'm the best healer in the world."
Visit the official website ;)
Dugg it, I'm excited for this. Forty news sites, people should watch this mod just to see how PR is handled :P
Rock star more like it. I'm growing out my hair again!
Yeah, sorry guys, the ModDB flash video encoder can handle pretty much anything you can throw at it EXCEPT for the latest version of .wmv codecs.
I'm not saying that level editors like this are the future, but not every game out there is going to have a mod SDK. Also, including mod players and developers still figures into a much smaller community than the whole of PC gamers. Maybe you should step back and assess the big picture instead of forecasting doom.
You have to understand that not everyone is going to approach modding or custom content with the same appreciation you have for it. In fact, the majority won't and that's OK.
It's still around: Moddb.com
Now you're just spitting out nonsense. You could apply you're same argument to PC mods, as the amount of mediocre/unfinished content out there eclipses the stuff worth playing. Secondly, this article is about unleashing people's creativity to create custom content on consoles. It's unrealistic to expect everyone to pick up and learn complicated modding tools, which is why mods have remained a niche community.
On the contrary, I think simple level editors like this boost the potential amount for user-generated content and the speed at which it is developed. While it may not be a full mod SDK, it will appeal to more gamers that are not interested in committing themselves to spending hours wrapping their heads around an editor. It's a different approach and a step in the right direction at least.
You've made your point, no need to spam the comments with your point of view.
That's what the Modcast is for: Moddb.com
They have training servers now though.
Just finished a game where I was commanding and had one squad with a Challenger tank stay alive for over an hour - almost the whole duration of the match. They racked up a ton of kills to and saved the day many times. One of the best matches I've played.
So they can heighten your level of anticipation?
Yep, they are pretty powerful. With a competent crew, you can stay alive for a long time.
I got him ^ hooked.
Just so you know, there's 2 I's in original. I've corrected it in you mod title and downloads.
Like Cyberpunk has stated, this article is really only a jumping off point for many. The information presented may be obvious to some but there's a lot of people out there who could stand to improve their chances by doing more to "sell" themselves.
It's just me, still one more day to go though. Send me a PM with your contact details if you want to meet up for lunch or something. I usually keep pretty busy with panels and meetings. Haven't even had much time to play any of the big marquee games yet except for Far Cry 2 (it's awesome).
Seattle, still 2 more days to go
I've privately talked with Beghins and the mod will once again be officially hosted on ModDB. Please refrain from public slandering in this comments section. Just like any other profile, comments posted here that are either inflammatory or abusive will be deleted.
We're glad to have Homeworld 2 Complex once again part of the ModDB community. Expect official files to be mirrored here again soon.
I can't wait... but Fileplanet.com, come on now ;) Great work guys!
HAHA, why not upload to ModDB?
