We actually looked took all those suggestions into account. One thing you'll have to remember is that we factor only media releases from 2008 into our decisions. So while the outcome might be different with the recent media pouring out from some of these mods - they can rest assured that next year will probably see a ton of crysis and ut3 nominations.

Ah ok, well Mike mentioned it being a collaborative process but didn't really explain the extent of it. As for the darkness, I did make sure that I was playing full screen (windowed tends to make things darker since you can't control gamma) and went over all my display settings to make sure nothing was out of whack.
The whole point of my feedback was just to state that making the levels more accessible (to newbies) is probably the most direct way to gain traction with newcomers. There's nothing wrong with maintaining a niche community, but it seems you guys are shooting for more than that. In order to bolster playercounts in the long term, there will have to be some concessions made with regards to the complexity of gameplay. It's a fine line and I'll be watching to see how Dystopia deals with it in the future.

Hey Fiasco, thanks for the feedback. I agree wholeheartedly with your opinions on the comments and criticisms on the show. On a personal level, I strive to be as constructive and knowledgeable as possible about the things we talk about on the show (maybe it's why I always have so much to say :P).
The show is a mix of personalities and its partly the random discussion that contributes to a lot of the entertainment. I still do cringe though when there's a ton of misinformation that could have been easily avoided with a few minutes research before recording (Episode 10-I wasn't there :P). In my eyes, it devalues the content-what's the point if the information you're giving out is nothing more than vague (or false) approximations?
In the end, it just comes down to peoples' ability to articulate their gameplay experiences accurately and employing the vocabulary to do so. We're still shuffling people around and still looking for a reliable 3rd and possibly 4th chair. Thanks for the comments, people like you are the reason I come onto the show. I wonder if anyone else feels the same way?

Try directly on Steam; from the STORE tab home click game mods under the free stuff section on the left hand side. All of the Steamworks-enabled mods should be listed on there. Click on Dystopia and then the green INSTALL button underneath the image and description. Good luck!

I disagree Dave, the music makes the loading time in PR so much more bearable. The fact that they fill it with something that gets you riled for the upcoming battle is a plus. It's as much a part of the design as an in-game menu or HUD display. If it WASN'T there you would instantly feel something would be off. Just because something is subtle doesn't mean it isn't being maximized - it's all the little touches that bring a game/mod together :D

Not bitterness, just trying to educate others (and the rest of the team) in terms of the reality of the scope you are shooting for in contrast to the manpower and experience you have available to you. Obligation isn't owed to the public but as a team leader, I think you DO owe it to the rest of your team to plan accordingly and lock down some sort of attainable goal. 3D grass blades seem frivolous in light other features which make a game fun to play, don't you think?
I'd rather have competent AI than 3d blades of grass... No offense but it's that kind of talk that doesn't make me hold out any hope for projects like these. It's been 2 years now and you're just scratching the surface of gathering the assets together, nevermind packaging them into some form of coherent gameplay. Now you're talking about individual 3D blades of grass, please be realistic with yourselves.
I think he's referring to the updates you post around MOTY but and the scarcity of activity for the rest of the year. This game/mod/whatever very much seems to be something that you're organizing more for the sake of winning stuff than anything else.
