Just another dood on ModDB :D.
Great article, thanks for detailing the creation.
Playing the game is orgasmic for the eyes. I tried turning down the graphic intensity so I could follow the position of my ship better, but it wasn't the same. Also lol'd at the tagline "Games as art debate approaching".
Should have made a release post: Moddb.com
Please do more of these journal style entries. Really love how they show your thought process.
I'm sure he means additive.
errr, when it renders that is.... video servers are having issues today - sorry.
Pushed this back to the top so people can check out the video.
Figured as much - oh well.
Does this mod save your progress? I'm going to bed but I'm scared to exit out since there's no save option. I'll just leave it on all night :D
I'm about a little ways into Teotl (played through the first 2 again - love the improvements!) and enjoying myself so far.
You sir, have the largest ego of them all.
"If I knew how to use the Unreal engine, i'd probably bring more than 5 retail quality maps to the table. ;)"
Take your foot out of your mouth.
Need more info on what this mod does.... please edit the description.
Well it won't be active if you don't post more information on it. :P
Is there english subtitles?
Nice surprise this morning, will check it out soonish.
Thanks for all the comments guys. I have to agree not completely happy with the font (its the 'official' ModDB one) but I'll play around with it some more for my next article.
Daystranger, not a big fan of the spread on that drop shadow myself - too distracting, I find.
What do you guys think of the new image layouts? Good or too much?
If you guys can't find an empty server and just want to host your own game: port-forward 30000,7777 and 6500 (UDP only) - ignore the stupid warning message the game gives you. I host games doing that and people can still join on me (using the Steam version of UT3).
Awesome article, very well formatted too! More and more it sounds like half the challenge of making a game is not over-extending yourself and working within your limits.
^ this doesn't include the challenge tower mode though.
Should do a quick round-up of the user made levels you liked and put them up for download on ModDB. Would show people what they're capable of create should they want to try :D
Wow, nice update.
BTW, Fileplanet download numbers are cumulative - meaning they bundle all version downloads together in their count. Don't be fooled by the misleading counts.
Fileplanet exclusive!?! You're kidding right? You could release this mod on all the websites you please day 1 and I GUARANTEE Fileplanet would have it on their front page too. Every mod I've talk to that has gone the Fileplanet exclusive route has regretted it. If you look at it from a pure numbers point of view, any exclusivity just limits launch success.
I don't think anyone said melee was dead?
Still looking forward to updates, just don't succumb to feature creep!
I dunno, I myself preferred the more cartoony look. All this fancy new lighting really diminishes the nostalgia hit and really changes the mood. I think the renderer would be great for projects developed with it in mind but personally I am looking forward to playing DTA with graphics more similar to the games that inspired it. There's no shame in not using the updated renderer - creativity in constraints!
Wow, awesome work, can't wait to hear the DMSS sampling from an original score.
