I work for SERIOUS*IMPACT WORKS, writing story, script, and concept design. I love old skool games! Platformers, RPGs, beat 'em ups, shoot 'em ups, whatever! Currently, I'm trying to catch 'em all in Pokemon Gen 4 and I'm almost there. When I'm not living my life or playing Pokemon, I might be playing Mabinogi with my wife (a gamer girl, lucky me!).

Reflection

StabbingEdgeward Blog

So it's been over a week since Banzai Pecan was released. Not sure about the stats yet, but it seems to have made a bit of a splash. As an artist, one of the greatest feelings in the world is to see your creation come to life. That's what I am feeling now. I helped create the characters, write the story, and gave Brotha Kyo a few ideas here and there. I couldn't feel this without Kyo, Mue, Rio, and a few others. I can't wait to start work on the next game.

Released

So Banzai Pecan was released on Monday. Oh what an exciting day it was. The team, friends, and I were spreading the news around. I also got a copy of the final version. I'd probably still be playing if I didn't have things to do.

I'm really happy that people are responding well to the game. I knew this would be a well liked game. I think it's funny to hear about how hard Banzai Pecan is. It's hard but feels good to finally beat an area that's been kicking my ass. I love the bosses in this game. They all have unique style and personality. Each boss presents a new challenge and a new strategy to beat them.

So after the release, I am just trying to spread the word about the game and enjoying the game. I hope everyone else will be doing so as well.

Beta Testing 2

No secret that Banzai Pecan is a hard game. It's almost God Hand hard, but the harder you try, the better you get. The standard Hunny Bunny is pretty weak, but a few of themcan KO you if you're not careful. I can manage a decent chain as long as I don't finish the combo. The Jenny Jackrabbits are just tall bitches though. They make me have to time my dodges just right.

I haven't had much time to beta test today, but this game really gets in your head.

Beta testing 1

Banzai Pecan is now in beta. Today, I learned how much I suck at this game. The tutorial boss kicked my ass a few times until I learned the pattern. Pretty much the same could be said about my getting through level 1. So I play through level 1 again and I fly through it. I don't suck at Banzai Pecan as much after all. It's all about learning Pecan's moves and how the enemies move. Now if I could just beat 2-1.

Also, it was funny when I first loaded up the game. I was showing my wife and our friend and they both looked at me and then Cinnamon (after you get your first good look at him) and they commented how Cinnamon looks exactly like me. I am so cosplaying Cinnamon Basil.

It's done.

So... the game is done and is going into beta testing. Exciting times!

The team and I have been working hard on this. Mostly the others. My work on the game was pretty much done early on. Even so, I was one of the people who developed this game with BrothaKyo from the beginning. It's a huge deal that we all did this.

There is a certain pride I feel seeing my work come to life and this is a pride I know that I share with the others. We've put a lot of work into Banzai Pecan and we are at the eve of her premiere. Exciting times indeed!
