Description

Momčilo Gavrić was the youngest non-commissioned officer in the world. He was born on 1st May of 1906. On the beginning of the First World War, Austro-Hungarian soldiers killed his father, mother, sister and 4 brothers. His life was saved by his father who sent him to his uncle for oxcart. He searched for Serbian army and found Sixth Artillery Regiment and told what happen. Soldiers immediately avenged the lives of his family and recruited them. Major Tucović, who commanded this regiment, let him shot from the howitzer 3 times every day, to have a sense that he is personally avenging his family.

He was wounded on Salonika front. When he was 12, most famous Serbian general Živojin Mišić promoted him in lance sergeant. He died in 1993.

REMINDER: It's not about abusing of children or forcing into army. Army was his other and only family, and soldiers and officers were treating him like he was their son. This is also not the single example in the world.
