Russia reminds me of the Ottoman Empire around WW1. It was the weakest of all the Empires but it was still a force to be reckoned with. It had little power projection outside of its sphere of influence and control, but the power it did have was fairly substantial.

I would say that Russia is more powerful than that. Maybe more close to Austria-Hungary. Definitely not the weakest, but definitely not the strongest either and it lacked the ability to project its power globally in any serious manner, though its control in a local area was significant.

I'm still against Russia occupying Crimea. For the same reasons I would be against India, Pakistan, Poland or Romania occupying London; just because people who share the ethnicity of your nation's majority live in an area in large numbers, does not give you the right to occupy that area. I would understand if the Ukrainians had willingly given up Crimea but they haven't.

The point is that anyone can claim that they are helping an ethnic group in a neighbouring country. Truth is, that group doesn't need help; its an excuse to land grab from a neighbouring sovereign nation.

Put it this way; if there was a revolution in Romania, would it be acceptable for Hungary to invade? After all, there are a large amount of Hungarians and Szekely Hungarians living in Central and Western Romania.

Also, the Russians are not 'fighting for their lives' nor do they make up half of Ukraine's population. They make up about seventeen percent of the population according to a 2001 census.

(continue) Ultimately, its unfair to say Hitler was completely Christian or completely not Christian, due to his occult and pagan views influencing him in his later years. However, the Catholic church did play a role in assisting Hitler. Dissolution of the Catholic centre party at the Church's behest helped the Nazi's gain a majority in the Reichstag. The church also ordered the celebration of his birthday and the infamous Nazi/Fascist escape plan codenamed Ratlines was committed by Catholics.

Oh and, in case you think I'm a closet Nazi, my copy of Mein Kampf is purely for University study. Just a quick disclaimer.

(continue) How can our images be anti-free thinking? Allowing people to post whatever in relation to the group's topic and within the boundaries of the site's rules are about as open as you can get. Again, early images I can't account for as I stated previously.

The Hitler wasn't a Christian is an interesting point that I partially share. He was born a Roman Catholic in Austria, a trait most Austrian's shared with him. Most of the Nazi party were Catholic too. Indeed, evidence of this can be seen in Mein Kampf (Hence today I believe that I am acting in accordance with the will of the Almighty Creator: by defending myself against the Jew, I am fighting for the work of the Lord) and in various speeches (such as on from 1922, a bit long to post here but an excerpt should do;'As a Christian I have no duty to allow myself to be cheated, but I have the duty to be a fighter for truth and justice, and if there is anything which could demonstrate that we are acting rightly it is the distress that daily grows. For as a Christian I have also a duty to my own people').

While initially a Christian, it was not necessarily his primary reason for his disdain of Jews. The Catholic church had propagated anti-Semitism for some time. This propagation likely influenced Hitler and Catholic Nazis along with the common people, but a belief in a supreme race of Germanic people was the prime reason for this hatred of Gypsies, Slavs and Jews.

While he was a Roman Catholic in at least the early days, he did develop a sort of paganism that he integrated into some aspects of ideology. Of note is the appointment of neo-pagan Alfred Rosenberg as the official Nazi ideologist.

I can agree with you on the whole Christianity causing wars thing. Because, to be frank, while it has been used to propagate or influence war, most wars have been over territory or resources or because they just can be fought.

I haven't actually ever condemned HinduMan. I've criticised and disagreed with his methods, but I have never said 'Stop Hinduman, you're awful' or words to that effect. If I've come across that way then I apologise.

On the causing offense front, I share the opinion of Stephen Fry;
'It's now very common to hear people say, 'I'm rather offended by that.' As if that gives them certain rights. It's actually nothing more... than a whine. 'I find that offensive.' It has no meaning; it has no purpose; it has no reason to be respected as a phrase. 'I am offended by that.' Well, so ******* what."
I see no reason to respect your religion. But mocking religion is different to mocking people. While I can't account for ALL the images on the page, due to having not always been a member and having taken a 2 or 3 year break from moddb, that is the general trend in the images.

I have to say that I agree with this idea. While that is not to say the Crusaders are innocent of any wrongdoing. We generally consider the Allies to be the 'good guys' but was Dresden, Hamburg, Cologne etc. necessary? No side is fully free of guilt, rather, it is generally little bit more right on one side than the other. In this case, the Crusaders, at least at first, were fighting to help their Spanish and French brothers and aid their Orthodox cousins in Byzantium. A short look at what happened in the time afterwards can show you what the Turks tried to do and nearly achieved. After swallowing Byzantium, they pushed through Southern Europe and very nearly took Central Europe. They were stopped at Hungary only due to a coalition of Hungary, HRE, Poland and other forces.

You cannot fully absolve the Turks of guilt, just as you cannot say that the only reason radical muslims today kill people is because of the Western World.

I don't get why people don't accept it. I understand people arguing over the rate of it occurring but the principle is simple really; humans burn stuff. Burning stuff releases CO2. Sun rays enter through the atmosphere to the Earth's surface which warms the Earth. Normally most heat would be radiated away from the Earth. CO2 blocks some of this. Extra CO2 means more heat blocked and re-radiated to Earth. Thus the Earth heats up more. Of course, other gases also contribute such as; methane, nitrous oxide and CFCs.

That's probably another reason Challenger 2 sales are pending. ._. Darn Americans. Can't even sell military equipment without them muscling in. But seriously, I never realised Britain had quite as good relations with Oman. Wikileaks said Oman helped Britain get some British sailors realeased from Iran because it has sway with Iran politically. Also, I never knew there was an Omani camel backed bagpipe band. That is truly epic.
