Opperation: Basilisk Hydra.

Details: To extract Extremely High Value Target
(EHVT) designated "Gamma five".

Insertion Method Halo jump from Ilyushin
II-75MDM, to outskirts of target area Pripyat.

What follows is the
recorded data from major Stukov's head camera, radio chatter and voice
recorder.

Major Stukov: "This is Vobor nine, Tyver
one report in."

Tyver One Commander: "This is Tyver one,
you are clear for go, I repeat you are clear for go!"

Major Stukov: "Affirmative Tyver one, see
you in six hours."

Tyver One: 'Roger that, good hunting commander.'

Major Stukov: "Sergeant Boreslov tell the
men that we are a go for launch!"

Master-Sergeant: "Da Major. All rite
Spetsnaz, we have a go, move your F**KING ASSES!! GO! GO! GO!"

Major Stukov: "May God protect us all on
God forsaken mission."

Major Stukov: "Vobor Nine, report in."

Spetsnaz three (Sniper): "Sniper reporting
in. Vss Vintorez checked and good to go."

Spetsnaz four (Heavy machine gunner):
"Machine gunner reporting in. Pecheneg checked and good to
go. "

Spetsnaz One: "One reporting in. AK-74M
checked and good to go."

Spetsnaz Two: "Two reporting in.
An-94 checked and good to go."

Major Stukov: "Team move out to way-point #982."

Master-Sergeant: "Standard formation cover
your corners."

-----Loud howling in distance as well screeching
sound, possible biological in nature--- ------

-- --10 minutes pass as the squad
moves covertly through abandoned buildings and ghostly streets.-- --

Spetsnaz Sniper: "Hold. I see something
near the next building at our one o'clock . Looks like a
soldier, Ukrainian, wearing GP-5 Gasmask. Male, however he seems to be
crawling on his belly, he may be wounded. Awaiting orders sir."

--- -Major approaches Sniper position
and takes out binoculars.---- --- -----

Major Stukov: "Something is not rite
here...Intel say that there are mutants in this place called the Zone. However
that thing still looks pretty human to me. It may be a hostile Intel confirmed
to be know as a Monolith soldier, setting a trap."

Master-Sergeant: "Sir I advise avoiding
engagement and altering our direction North West and continuing through the
alley way of building 251."

Major Stukov: "OK, we are altering our position
to no #455. "

--- --Squad moves to a set of tall apartment
buildings with a long narrow alley way. The sun rays don't filter all
the way to the ground and the passageways are shrouded in
darkness----------

Major Stukov: "Spetsnaz one take
point."

Spetsnaz one: "Da Tovarisch Commandeer!"

--- ---Spetsnaz one
move forward about 10 meters when suddenly there is
a loud rumbling underneath. Without warning the ground gives way
and Spetsnaz one disappears into the void. The
Spetsnaz paratroopers Geiger Counters suddenly screech out
warnings of an immense spike in radiation signature as the
radioactive dust fills the air in the alley way as well as the
radiation that has been trapped bellow the surface within the sewers.
All the radiation particles now sees daylight for the first time
since the CNPP Disaster as they were thrown into the air by the cave
in. Spetsnaz one is silent however mixed muffled sounds can
be heard being made by the Remaining Spetsnaz paratroopers as they voice
there concerns and mutter silent prayers of protection, as
the insuring chaos enfolds. There is also a snorting sound in the air
as the noise fades from the cave in.---

Major Stukov: "Sergeat REPORT!"

Master-Sergeant: "Sir Spetsnaz one seems to have been swallowed by some sort of cave in,
the sewers in this area are in dire need of repair and our Military Stalkers
report that sewer cave-ins are a frequent occurrence in Pripyat!"

Spetsnaz One: "What the F**K is that thing?
Sir the monolith hostile that we saw earlier is down here and is hopping
towards me, and the bastards brought friends!" Stay the Hell away from me
you Mother FUC...."

-----Loud screaming can be heard and a
seconds later the sound of an the AK-74M on full auto can be heard--

Major Stukov: "Spetsnaz four & two get him
out of there now!"

---The two Spetsnaz paratroopers run towards the
gaping hole in the alley floor. Spetsnaz two cracks open a flare and
tosses it into the darkness bellow. What they see registers as
extreme shock as the sound of there labored breathing rises in intensity within the
confines of their PKM gas masks. The two remaining officers still breath
normally in their officer issue Black PBF gas
masks.-- ----------- ---------- ---------

----Spetsnaz One's AK-74M lay discarded on his
left side as the Spetsnaz operator had no time to reload his weapons
as the tattered mutants begin to claw, scratch and bite at him from all sides
of the sewer tunnels. The helmet camera on Spetsnaz four captures the
following footage of Spetsnaz one: Spetsnaz one pulls out his
secondary weapons as he is being overpowered. The MP-443 Grach pistol barks
angrily as it spits out its deadly payload of hollow point
9x19mm projectiles. All 17 rounds find there marks on the soft bodies of
the former human mutants. Five of these hollow point rounds
are stopped by the creatures bullet proof vests as their
former human bodies still have these vests strapped to
them before their devolution into monsters. However the
Screaming Spetsnaz one paratrooper shoots them each in turn in the
plastic eyepiece of their GP-5 Gas-masks. As Spetsnaz four and two's long
years of brutal Special forces training regains control of them they jump
into action. Spetsnaz four imidiately drops to the ground and opens his
Pecheneg bi-pod stands, he braces the bottom of
the bi-pod legs against the edge of the sewer hole's crumbling
surface to brace for the incoming recoil. Spetsnaz four starts
shooting into the sewers interconnecting water holes where the
mutants are pouring out of like an endless stream of water. The 200 rounds of
7.62x54mm rounds ricochet around the tunnels towards the
oncoming mutants. The horde in the eastern most tunnel are deduced to fleshy
scraps of meats as they are shredded like a tuna in a blender/liquidator.
Spetsnaz two also starts selectively head shooting each mutant with two
neat little holes in the front of its face-plated gas mask while the
bullets leaves a much bigger exit wound at the back of the creatures skull. The
whole engagement only lasts 21 seconds. The machine gun Pecheneg can shoots out
10-11 rounds a second and while Spetsnaz four stops to reload the mutants
freely pour out of the previously kill-zone tunnel. Major Stukov and the
Master-Sergeant head cameras shows them
shooting their noiseless AS Val rifles at a new enemy, as
Monolith contacts start to be drawn to the thunderous sound of
a machine gun fired on full automatic. The Spesnaz Sniper also
joins the fray as he starts re-enacting the battle
for Stalingrad making old legends of old proud to be called Russians!

AS Spesnaz two reloads his empty magasine he
sees that Spesnaz one is bleding profusely and that one of the mutants
have ripped off his PKM Gas mask.
The hazardous and lethal dose of radiation was high enough
so that any human being who breathed in the radioactive dust to
develop cancer in the lungs and body. It was determined that Spetsnaz One
either realized this or he was overcome by the pain/fear of being
eaten alive that he took the following action. As Spetsnaz two was
busy reloading his AN-94 he saw what Spetsnaz One was attempting to
do over the sound of both wounded and unwound mutant roars. Spetsnaz
two then realized in horror and great shock that Spetsnaz one looked
him strait in his bug eyed gas mask and put his has up to where one of his six
F1 Grenades were holstered.--- -------- ------ ----

Spetsnaz Two: "NYET!!! GET DOWN!!!"
(Jumps for cover)

-----Spetsnaz four looks up from reloading, and
sees the F1 grenade pin fall near the head of a snarling mutant gnawing on
Spetsnaz One's bloody foot. Spetsnaz four calmly but quickly puts up his right
hand to his head, gives Spetsnaz One a final salute of mutual respect
and duty, and dives for cover. A loud and gigantic boom of an
explosion can be heard from each of the five remaining
Spetsnaz Paratroopers mic's. The Mics,
which momentarily overloaded the mics sensitive filters. The combined force of
the other F1 grenade cooking off tippled the force of the explosion.
As shrapnel blew upwards into the air at a 45* angle away from the whole
there was a load groan of metal and concrete beginning to
break. The situation had now entered a stage that military personal refer to as
FUBAR. AS Major Stukov looked up from his crouched position near an old
and Rusted out GAZ automobile, he saw what new new noise was the
two apartment buildings were beginning to lean inwards towards the
Paratroopers. The buildings were beginning to cave in as well. With
Monolith forces pushing in from the south of there position there was
only one other exit to be taken.--- -------- -------- --------- ------- ----------- ------- ---- ----

Major Stukov: "THE BUILDINGS
ARE CAVING INWARDS! TACTICAL RETREAT, NOW!"

Master-Sergeant: "Spetsnaz four lay
down suppression fire while we fall back!'"

Spetsnaz four: "Affirmative
Starshina."

Major Stukov: "Spetnaz four make sure you
mover immediately after we get half way, make that 15 seconds before
you fall back."

----17.67 seconds later. Spetsnaz four starts to
fall back. Spetsnaz four spins on his heel and starts making a run down the
smoking crater left my Spetsnaz one's last stand. As he runs down the
slope he glances down and sees the only thing thing remaining of the
former Russian paratrooper. In the helmet camera of Spetsnaz four the machine
gunner skids to a stop to retrieve his former friends ring finger. It is on
record that the two privates were friends and that Spetsnaz four knew the wife
of Spetsnaz One. As the Spetsnaz officer bends down to scoop up the finger and
ring the last 5 seconds of the camera play in slow motion. --

Spetsnaz four: (heard muttering these words
under his breath before loss of contact.) "Arcady, why did you have to
die? Now you leave me alone in this dammed Zone and I don't have anyone to
cover my back and share their last loaf of bread with me." (running, heard
after 17.67 seconds) "What the... Arcady, you left your ring
behind... I won't let Shasha be left with nothing to remind her of you. I will
return your ring to her and tell her of your bravery and service to your
country. What the hel..." (sounds of metal screeching and
concrete crumbling --building disintegrates inwards--) "So this
is how it ends? First round is on you Arcady, I hope heaven exists
like you kept on telling me all those years...." (End Transition.)

Major Stukov: "All rite Spetsnaz! Cover
Spetsnaz four as he retreats! Don''t let those monolith bastards get a
lucky shot, or have a stray bullet hit our Comrade!"

-- --Spetsnaz four is half-way across but stops
and disappears in the center of the crater.-- ------ ---- ---

Master-Sergeant: "What the F**K are you
doing? Get your ass out of that hole and to our position Soldier!"

Spetsnaz three: "Did another of the mutant
creature grab him? Look! The building, its...its COLLAPSING!!!"

Spetsnaz two: "He's not going to make it,
Sergeant we have to go back for him."

Master-Sergeant: "What, are you mad SHIT
FOR BRAINS? The building is collapsing!!!"

-- --Loud crash and dust plume thrown into
the air as the building falls in on itself.- ------ ------ ----

Major Stukov: "All rite soldiers we have to
keep moving! We are Russians, WE ARE SPETSNAZ! We train for this our whole
live! We are soldiers of Russia, and we have to keep moving. It is our duty to
keep miving,for if we don't their sacrifice will be for nothing! Honor their memories by
doing your duty. We morn the dead later, for now, we have a mission to
complete!"

Remaining Spetsnaz chant:
"HURAAAA!!!"

Master-Sergeant: "What are you orders
sir?"

Major Stukov: "We continue
with speedily and stealthily towards our objective before
the Monolith bastards find a way over or around this 'grave'. And then
we complete the mission."

Spetnaz two: "Sir, before we move out, what
were those creatures?"

Major Stukov: "Private, those things were
indeed human once upon a time, people
which inhabit this place called the Zone. It was people
called Stalkers and even military personal that were left behind during the
forming and creation of the Zone. Also those
poor souls who just lost their way in the Zone and who
succumbed to their animal nature when they were on the verge of death. Those
things that took two of our comrades lives today are called Snorks. That
was probably one of their nests. These sewer tunnels that connect
Pripyat probably have hundreds of them just breeding and
living down there. This close to the center of the Zone is the most
dangerous place on earth! And they are the least of our problems.
The Zone hides many secrets and many
more unimaginable horrors. But enough chat, we need to
get moving."

Three hours later --- Next time

Next time I will continue the story and we can
find out what the Spetsnaz teams objective is and whether they
will successfully complete their mission, or just become
another corpse in the Zone. The military tend to have a bad
reputation when it comes to operations in the Zone. there failure rate is high
even among the best and most elite unites of the Military such
as Spetsnaz. This is the best that The Russian Federation has to offer. But
will it be enough?
