Major games like CoD probably won't be sold in the near future.
However, Desura aims to be an epic platform for mods and indie games. So, it will locate what you already have installed and give you a portal to load up all your mods and indie games.
And buy indie games of course.
very, very awesome. Might want to re-do the Ryan character's voice, it's a bit hard to hear what he's saying. Granted, not everyone is a sound designer/has access to awesome mics, but if you ask around I'm sure you can find a buddy (or some1 in the community) who does.
that looks soooo badasss. So many useful tools that I wish all editors had.
Looking pretty awesome.
whoa. Sweet concept. Highly anticipating how far this will go.
Alright! The Moddb page got updated!
Trust me when I say we should keep the moddb people in the loop.
Gonna have to figure out a better way for clouds to distinguish themselves, though. Right now they kinda blend in too easily.
Really loving the progress though. Keep it up!
lookin' sweet. Can't wait for the release, although my internetz been a bit slow so I'm not sure I'll be able to play at any release party.
there is gonna be a release party, right?
This sounds really sweet. Gonna have to try the extended demo before purchase, though.
whoa. Sleeper mod awaken!
Also, finals in university have probably eaten much of their time in the last few weeks. I commend them for giving info every week, but perhaps you may want to take a break on the updates to help provide more meaty updates each time.
That being said, sweet wallpaper.
Quite awesome. And very informative!
hm... I always had issues when I first tried Freelancer mods to access the newer stuff. Especially when they added new storyline and crazy secret ways to access the shiny newer systems. Not to mention the AI would be.... interesting. I guess I should try this out since it's been doing so well.
dude, vehicles??? AWESOME!
This sounds really, really cool. It's starting to really come together in a brilliant way.
Keep up the good work.
this looks like a really neat concept.
I'm continually impressed by how much people are pushing the limits of the HL1 engine. Congrats.
looks interesting. will have to try it out. what can we expect in the alpha?
Wow, sounds really interesting.
I hope it doesn't flop around like Spore did. Give us time and good game development in each genre period!
All it means is that the new maps will have backwards compatibility. it's like saying Windows XP isn't all that different form Windows 95 because you can run Windows 95 stuff on Windows XP.
As much as my gut feeling was of disappointment, I'm actually not too mad.
Partially I blame my inability to get online and have decent L4D games, so I kinda feel rushed to get my money's worth out of it. Also, I agree that many people have a gut feeling of annoyance that Valve promised some things and it appeared they weren't delivered. Granted, in the business world, it's called hype and marketing and completely fair game. That being said, many long time fans have come to expect more from Valve, and this is a kind of realization that Valve isn't the benevolent game company in the sky showering love and free content to everyone.
I agree that perhaps we're getting too worked up over nothing. Gampelay vids and tech demos pale compared to real-life experience. Even game reviews are in some ways worthless. Most game review groups don't really have time to digest a game and check out its staying power. So, even though it doesn't look like much, I'll reserve judgement until I see it in action. Plus, Amazon has messed up before and will again.
All in all, I'm simply not going to pre-order and will wait for the release to see if it's worth my money.
Nice. Goes to show the world what goes into serious development.
coolness. I'm really excited about all the L4D maps.
xbox360 is much easier to code for. Or so I hear.
Similarly I don't think they're trying for a Wii port.
Correction. Cinematic in their engine.
Flayra and the NS2 team are trying to work with Valve to make sure you can connect the pre-order copy with the Steam copy.
However, no promises.
Null, Flayra is a NS2 dev. If he can swing a connection between pre-orders and Steam, he will.
man, that would be really lame if they don't link.
Oh well. Count me in, even if it does get miffed by Steam.
They are the original designers behind NS1. So, they're not new. But still, some seriously pro looking stuff.
Keep the awesome coming.
awesome. Gonna DL when the internet frees up.
wow. Looking pretty slick. You've been added to my Track list. =]
Maybe something to add would be a way to seed initial rooms. That way you could do something like force a two-base look, or sprawling rooms from the center and both teams start on the outside, using clever initial boxes.
Actually, they have said that there will be a form of bhop, just that it should be mostly moot due to other features.
Awesome stuff. It's really cool to see how you guys have created some awesome pipelines to get this thing out the door. Congrats.
awesome. will go read now.
It's interesting actually how few make the mod 'rags to riches' story. Most straight up climb the corporate ladder. A huge chunk work on doomed projects that never release before they get themselves a desk job at a company. Perhaps the awesomeness of the mod 'rags to riches' story is that it's a rare, singular experience and due to the close ties of the modding community that when the notables rise from the ashes they are adored forevermore.
At the end of the day, experience is great but "Luck, Networking and Determination" are what make people great.
