Well....me....actually i'm not a that usual mod maker, because i'm don't now how to model or texture, make missions, and all that stuff...But why am i a (supposedly) valuable member of the team? Mainly two things: I make good trailers, and i'm an experienced video editor. And i have tons of ideas, sometimes even good ones...and i'm getting those from playing, so i can really make a difference when it comes down to the mod reproducing the feeling it's supposed to reproduce. I think that's all.... If i left out anything, tell me:)

Frak, it's starting to be quite annoying. For now all i can do is try to fend off all space attacks on 3 fronts, with 1 (not enough large) fleet, and it doesn't always work:)

Anyway, no problem, i can't wait for the next update.

Some other stuff:

I know that you are well aware of the bombing run crash bug, and i didn't even try to use it, but when the AI tries to use it, the game crashes as well, making a ground defence mission unwinnable, thus i can't continue on in my campaign of galactic dominance.

Isn't there a quickfix, or some file editing to eliminate this, without needing you guys to publish a patch?

Apart from that and some other minor issues i'm sure you guys already corrected and improved internally, the game is great, and i love it!

Hey guys!

Great work i've been testing this for some time now, and a few ideas:

The galaxy map:

I think that either the texts, or the galaxy background color needs to be changed, the colors are too similar, and it's not easy on the eye when one tries to read planet names, especially close to the galactic core.

It would be good if the game had a galactic conquest map with about 5-10-15 planets tops, making it a bit easier for starters to jump into the game.

Planet names: I know the Stargate series didn't put a big effort in naming all of the planets, and you are being as authentic as possible, with all the p3x-yxz planet names. But when the player has a galaxy full of planets, and you get a mission to take planet p3x-zyx, it takes a lot of time to find it. So at least these mission-targeted planets could use some red highlighting, at least for a few minutes after the briefing, so the player could find it.

Well, battles don't last long in tv (neither in stargate nor in star trek) because tv is a different business... usually you get only a few minutes of battles and it has to be 'cool' enough, so of course you'll get big ships exploding fast stuff... but to make a good game, unfortunately you have to get a bit far from the tv canon.

Yeah guys, for now please stick to the manual controls, the commands are useless as of now. We want to have at least one command working for multiplayer with the next release, as it is harder to set everything in manual in time, with no opportunity to pause the game.

Well, stuff have been temporarily removed, because of bugs...
We have decided that we withdraw a lot of content for polishing, because i.e. the jumper commandos were quite useless...
As for the removed ships: we got fed up of placeholders and unfinished/untextured ships. We are planning a new release soon enough, where most of the content will be restored , but in a much better way. Ships will be textured, there will be a reasonable balancing to them, and many models will be less buggy.

Ground:
Some vehicles are quite hard to steer, for example on of the buggies (sorry i'm quite bad with names yet) turns about 40° if i just touch the left or right key.

Could you do the tank cannons to fire the way the Goliaths fire in UT3? i know that it makes it a bigger threat, but it would give quite more exciting tank-battles, on longer ranges. In urban fights it's pretty much the same, you have to be extremely luck to hit anyone with it anyway.

I love how the transport puts the player down on the ground instead of simply just spawning. Really cool and adds tons to the feeling of the game. From this i had an idea: what if the assaulting side got a ship, hovering above their starting zone, and people could land onto the ground from that, either through drop pods, or transports(in case of ground vehicles). Plus those gunships could launch from there instead of the ground. And the defending party could have the opportunity to destroy the attackers ship somehow (i.e. they have 1 transporter with which they can board it and blow it up, or some fighters) thus win the match.

Well for now, these are my ideas, i'll continue sharing them as i keep playing the game. I know that some of my ideas are probably un-doable, but i'll share them anyway:)

Well, all i can say is that this mod is awesome!

First of all, i just love the ship/vehice/weapon designs. When i got my hands on AFF: Nexus, i just sat there, jaws on the ground for a couple of hours, playing around and checking out the ships.

The gameplay of the mod is really cool, i love the idea of space+ground assaults. And you did it in a really awesome way! I love to board and blow up enemy ships from the inside, or hop into a fighter and do bombing runs on enemy capital ships.

And the ground battles....love those as well.

I can't really criticize anything, as the stuff i could, come from RC3 being a beta release. The whole game still needs a lot of polishing and de-bugging, and i'd like to share some of my ideas on that.

Space: On capital ship turrets, could you make the guns visible to the player who sits in them? It really adds to the feeling.

Ship steering still needs to be fine-tuned a bit.

Sometimes when a reinforcement ship jumps in, and the camera shows it, it freezes on it, and though i have control of my character, i can only see the ship from a birds view, thus i'm totally blind.

When boarding a ship with a boarding craft, sometimes the doors into the ship won't open, though we're docked to it.

Well, maybe you can do an animation onto the model...i think there is an animation type which plays when the ship engages in battle, then goes back to it's original state when the fight is over...but the max you can get out of that is a formation flight of the ship components...it would be still static unfortunately:(

SoulAssassino Jun 3 2009, 3:31pm replied:

But don't forget that usually after some direct hits the ships lose most of their systems...
Prometheus lost basically all essential systems after the first hit.
The Daedalus usually loses hyperdrive/sublight propulsion/asgard weapons after a few hits. When it fought the crusier, it took about 5-6 hits and the ship was almost done for.

Altough most of these stuff are because of writer stupidity/carelessness/dramatic effect. Atlantis especially. I loved the show but the writing after season 1 got really stupid, ignorant of continuity and careless. Every episode was a one-off, no deed had any consequence. And they made Ancients look stupid! Aurora class battleships should be able to destroy piles of hiveships or even smaller moons.. we're talking about a race MILLIONS of years ahead of us! And after 11 years we have ships that outmatch theirs!

Sorry about the rant, but the stupid writing of the show can **** me off. Altough it's still fun, i love it, but it could be way, way, way more and way better! But the writers fraked up. They always wanted to grasp too big. I would have much better liked if for two years we would have been fighting !1! hiveship and it's onboard wraith. And after that it turns out that there is more of it in a HUGE DARN GALAXY! It's big enough for a 100 11km hiveships not to ever cross eachothers paths for crying out loud! Stuff don't have weight in stargate. if you get what i mean.

And in a lot of space battles our ships just sit there, getting pounded, and pounding back with inferior firepower. I.E.:No man's land or Enemy at the gate(that ep was stupid)

Of course hull values will be raised, because you're right.
