That corrupted Valve update was to upgrade the graphics options of HL2 and HL2 Ep 1 to like that of Ep 2, so the combine shotgunners have the red goggles, and bloom and HDR effects are available in the video options. But yeah it made the game crash easily if you decided to stop playing halfway through and minimize it to the task bar.
I remember playing this mod when it was first released. Somewhere I still have screnshots of the great scenes and unique terrain worthy of a Final Fantasy game.
But as you said, its insanely difficult even on easy. The Combine Overwatch come in ten man squads and half of them carry shotguns. Then the final part I had to retry like twenty over times before I managed to time it to get both Dr Breen and the G-man and escape in some weird space vehicle.

I didn't find anything about this Black Mesa - Fallout you were talking about, except perhaps your own comment mentioning it.
Its a pity Black Mesa Source mod has begun to look it caught the vaporware bug, hope this one doesn't become the next mod to do so.
It would be nice to have more details to give the Mammoth walker a more metallic armor appearance skin like that of the Titan
Too bad for me the best mods are made multiplayer only.

It made sense that the Citadel of City 24 be shorter since it is one of the less major ones linked to the City 17 one which is the HQ for Combine's Earth forces.
Can't wait for Ep 2. However I hope there is no stealth in this one, as to me it often breaks the momentum of the game.
Well done mod, I believe this is the first mod to have commentary system. From the commentary you can see they put in a lot of effort for a short mod, down to basing the face poser on actual gestures as seen on mirror.
Big improvement over Ravenholm, keep it coming.
There aren't a lot of single-player mods out there, with the obvious difficulty in thinking up a good storyline and scripting one well. There are even fewer good ones, of which "Minerva: Metastasis" is the only one I can think of.
That said, this mod shows a lot of promise on the part of the creativity shown, with the outdoor scenes a refreshing change over the sterile, unnatural environs of the original. Hopefully it will have a good storyline with some revealing details of events on the HL2 side, e.g. 7 hour war and annexation by the combine.
Is it a sequel to the original Portal by Valve?

They were changed. Switch to crowbar and press fire, you should see the arms in camouflaged clothing. The gloves were not the original finger gloves, but that was necessary in a cold environment.
Great effort with the graphics, lighting art, and the attempt to get the skins to be a Marine's. However could have done a hell of a lot with the storyline, especially towards the end. I was expecting that Adrian would personally hand the G-gun to Eli Vance, making him a vital part of the resistance.
Some work could have been done on how Shephard ended up in a hibernation chamber while Gordon simply was woken up out of the middle of some dimension before he is told to raise hell for the combine, when from the previous respective games both can be assumed to have ended up in some sort of stasis while their vehicle (tram for Gordon and V-22 Osprey for Shephard.
If I recall the original storyline was of the Marine fighting in Black Mesa region before going to other locations, is it true?
Because of that's the case then the portal that opened would be the explanation for sending Adrian to City 17's area.

Yeah, don't forget he wore a Powered Combat Vest (PCV) suit over his Marine camouflage, not a full body HEV.
