I love that game, the extras were excellent (it allowed many people to play the old school classics) and I love the new additions such as the 3D camera (they used it as a prototype for MGS4).
I really wanted to replay Metal Gear Online 1 (the first MG Online game which was an extra in Subsistence), but unfortunately they shut off the whole game servers :( (specially due to the fact that that version was, just like the 3D cam, a prototype for MGS4).
That kinda reminds me of some "engrish" cases in the first MG versions (which I played during the 90's).
"I feel asleep!" or "The truck have started to move!"
Metal Gear goes way back (1987), millions and millions have became fans of such a colossal game series over all these years.
Just like me, there are millions of fellow MG Players/Fans which have grown alongside the series (this is no mere "game" to us).
I find it quite interesting that even over 20 years later lots of new people are becoming MG fans and joining old fan clubs with players like me who been playing it since the mid 90's.
Just like me, there are millions of fellow MG Players/Fans which have grown alongside the series (this is no mere "game" for us).
I see, just as I expected, the initial price of an auction is usually "nice" (to encourage ppl to start bidding), the eventual price won't be so nice later on :s
It really depends on their specific needs (I suppose the Saur 1 and Saur 2 are cheaper than the Strykers which is always an interesting advantage for countries with limited military budgets like Iraq, even though Iraq is seriously tooling up their renewed armed forces).
They would have to test both on specific Army Trials (to see which one's the most suited for the intended Iraqi terrain). The Stryker haves the advantage of having been extensively field tested by US Forces (and the fact that they respect and have US Military hardware alongside them everyday).
At this exact moment however, the Stryker is the one which will have the decisive probability of entering full military service in the Iraqi Security Forces, specially since they have formally made a large order of 400 Strykers: Strategypage.com
Oooops, sorry about it :s , you still managed to buy it?
Nice! Great addition ^^
I just uploaded three tracks:
- Troops In The Gathering (MGS3):
- "METAL GEAR SOLID" Main Theme (MGS3 Ver):
- Metal Gear Saga (MGS4):
The tracks are still waiting to be processed (checked) by the Moddb Staff so they're not available right now (they'll be a bit later).
If you guys want me to upload a specific MG track just let me know (I have all the soundtracks).
Sure thing, if you wanna know more MGS4 extras, where certain weapons are, etc. just let me know.
I'm gonna confess that at first I was kinda surprised to know they were including a skating mini-game in Substance, after playing it I've gotta say I loved it (this track is really suited for that fun mini game).
A newer MG title was announced last year (middle December):
Metal Gear Solid Touch
- Platforms: iPhone, iPodTouch;
- Genre: Third Person Shooter.
If you guys wanna know a bit more info and watch some pics, check Konami's news release info page:
Official Game Page:
Hell yeah, that's an awesome deal! XD
In fact I think it's too "good", since you're buying it from ebay make sure the seller haves a good feedback (watch out for tricks and sellers trying to rip you off though).
The Metal Gear Saga is a sort of a "documentary" (which summarily tells MG's story, haves some interviews with Kojima and haves some trailers), the MG Saga Vol. 1 came with pre-orders when Subsistence was released on North America, the Vol. 2 was available for people who pre-ordered MGS4's limited edition (I was gonna get the LE but there weren't enough :s ).
There are ppl selling the Vol.2 alone for 20$ (and even higher).
Btw, I have about 3 accounts in Gamefaqs and it's partner sites but never use'em :p
A thing you may have noticed when sprinting to get the Big Boss rank was the fact that there are many "unspoken questions" as we play, a perfect example is the fact that helping the rebels is totally up to our judgment. If we decide not to, then they will most likely be killed by the PMC troops (which have the advantage both on personnel and weaponry).
In fact, we can even seize the chance to slip in unnoticed (which I'm sure you did due to the no-kill and time limitations), we can get a pretty good look of that situation when we are sneaking through the battlefield, know what I mean?
Good luck, the Chicken Emblem's gotta be the most difficult one.
For the killing part, the best zone is Act 2 (specially during the rebel mansion attack).
"but one question: Is it weird that I do not like killing the troops? (...) Is that a sign of insanity?"
Nope, in fact that's one great thing about MGS4, a way to show both our and our character's emotional sides, most war games never depict our character as having emotional trauma (that many soldiers may experience when they are confronted with combat) but MGS4 is another different story. The circumstances in which Snake is involved (with Foxdie and the suffering he's through) and the whole climate (both from the story and the battlefield) forces us to take a more "humane look" upon the characters, that's one great achievement that Kojima always wanted to introduce (emotional involvement with the environment and involved characters).
Contrary to many other games, this may make us think twice before pulling the trigger sometimes.
The mod is under production and wasn't released yet.
XD Congratulations, how did the battle with Liquid go? (or rather, how many retries? ^^)
Nice! The solar gun can be very useful sometimes (it can drop the items the enemies are carrying).
About the Haven Camo, you'll have to connect your Ps3 to the internet (Ps3 Network) and:
- select "Extras" on the MGS4 Main Menu
- "Connect to the network"
- "Download Special Camo"
You can download more extras like music tracks and more camouflages, all for free, I highly recommend you do so (you can also download some Podcasts for listening on the ingame Ipod).
The bike sequence is easily one of the most annoying parts of the game in order to get Big Boss rank, the best tip I could have told you was to save the Solar Gun and to use it on the Humvee machine gunners (which can kill Snake in a breeze), other than that, I would recommend you to perfect the aim with the Mk.2 Pistol. Flashbangs and smoke grenades also came in handy in some later parts of the chase on my case. Another important tip to reduce the probability of Snake being hit is to use EVA as a "shield" XD (press triangle), it can reduce the chances of Snake being hit in some points of the chase.
When facing Raging Raven I used the railgun charged to the maximum (aim for the head for massive amounts of damage).
I know exactly what ya mean, the first area (Act 2) is HUGE, there's a lot of terrain difference (and the second the octocamo takes to change may be the difference between life and death).
I used a daring strategy that worked pretty well (after some tries and taking everyone out with the M82 in fury when I was spotted XD, I usually went on a rampage after being discovered).
On that particular case, I moved behind the buildings to the left, timed my movement with the one from the prisoner and PMC soldier (to avoid'em) and slowly crawled in the middle of the area till the entrance to the right (the one on the right of the big rock), the next area was quite tricky, I used the ENVG and tranquilized the guards with the Mk.2 Pistol and moved from shadow to shadow (the main problem when climbing the mount is because we frequently have to get up to climb to a higher level which is the perfect opportunity for the PMC guys to spot us).
Check this youtube movie, he explains how and where to get all the dolls:
Exactly, here's an image of it: Ps3forums.com
That weapon can easily destroy any Gekko (with direct shots).
The weapon and ammo are kind of expensive at first:
- M82 = 200.000 DP
- Ammo (x1) = 2250 DP
But it really compensates with excellent firepower and range.
Camouflage all the way XD
Sure thing, you may also use the M82A2 rifle (costs 200.000 Drebin Points), the M82 can easily destroy a Gekko with very few shots.
If you want to know where a particular doll is located just let me know.
If you wanna easily find the dolls you can also use the Solid Eye (on the night vision mode).
You know the very first rebels which are restrained by the PMC's (right when Act 2 starts?)
You must save them by killing the PMC's (I recommend using a weapon like the Mk14 EBR or the M4 with a scope).
After you kill the PMC's the rebels will get up and get to a small shack which is on the right side when you start act 2 (it's located behind the Rebels).
They will open the door to that shack and you can get the Rebel Disguise and a shotgun.
(Note that if all the rebels are killed by the PMC's you can't access that shack, at least one must survive the firefight, the survivor will open the door).
Well, I like both night and day matches (both have their pros and cons).
Though I'd say the best match I've ever had was at night during a very stormy weather (thunderstorm and heavy rain, that match ended quite late), the thunderstorm sure gave a lot of adrenaline.
The match was about half a day (it started at about 17:00, it started to rain at about midnight (about 23:45) and the thunderstorm begun at 00:50 and ended almost an hour later.
Best match ever!
A pity that that EOTech Holographic Sight wasn't included in the final version, I love that sight and was almost sure it would be in MGS4 (since it made it's appearance on the very first trailer).
Depends on the drinker (for some it may be a lot, for others it may be "ok", lol).
(Just remember to have backup/emergency kegs, oh and it's better if you don't drive after this, it may be a bit "unhealthy" if you know what I mean).
Wow, i would advise you to prepare yourself first (have the right gear, weapons, ammo, etc.)
