He's a part of a scientist team at the beginning. No special training. He is incorporated later because of the alien knowledge acquired because of the alien box he found (the reason why he became translator on abydos and can read alien signs).
But that level was supposed to the the first one, we added that small tutorial for players to learn the basics at the first minutes of the game (using the digicode system etc). We added the current first level at the end (whiteout) of the development because the story wasn't clear enough. I think that today i would add the first introduction level as a flashback, later in the adventure, because it's too boring for players who only want action with the sci-fi assets.

It's a mod for crysis, you need the game to play the mod.
It is not based on the SG franchise, it's a multi-references mod with SF things that we like. The main story is enough with a lot of levels (~5 hours).

No first person view : We wanted the player to be able to hit the head of the boss only when he is down, with less precision.
He is not annoying with at least the 1.04 patch, and we can beat him in less than a minute... Dodging the attacks is possible if you don't roll backward (why backward? You only have to speed up with shift and brake with space bar).
The first version had no glow on weak points and 2x more health points... COD players only want easy games ;)

When playing to the beta, we found that there was too much similar ennemies between two levels, so we added another ennemy and one more weapon to make the gameplay richer. There is a lot of things that we have not revealed yet.

I tested yesterday and i have no aiming problem. It is right that the staff is not accurate but there is a reason : it's a kind of rocket launcher that you can find everywhere. I remember that we had to limit the number of ammo too, because it broke completely the game (buying new weapons was useless). You have to use it only if you have nothing else. Maybe i will tweak it with a special patch.
I can kill 3 jaffas in a row without reloading the P90. So, it's pretty good weapon.

We made that to balance them. They can be too powerful if too much accurate. So, we made three classes of weapons, from close to far range. Close have a lot of power or unlimited ammo, but are less accurate. Or we added an overheat system. But everything is easily moddable. We thought that maybe someone else could make a little tweak for the vehicles and the weapons. No one shared it. Maybe i could add something like that into the "very easy patch".
I had no aiming problem. Really easy for me. Maybe change your mouse :p

But single shots are not so bad at middle range.

The very-easy patch is fully compatible with the 1.16 version of the mod. You can apply the 1.16 patch and overwrite the files, the content of the very-easy patch is not the same.
I think you have a problem. You need a clean install of crysis for this mod, and play in normal difficulty (don't touch the difficulty settings). You must be able to run the game smoothly in very high or at least high settings.
After the explosion, you only have to go back and take the medikits on the first table on the left. Save Dulu (near the table) by shooting with your gun through the window if you can, the end will be easier. There is a rocket launcher near the gate (where a sniper is dead), use it against the first helicopter and it will be ok.
The first level is the easiest, i never saw someone dying the first minute. The enemies are really easy to hit if you're always moving and doing headshots. It's the default IA of crysis, they have the same vulnerabilities and life points...
It's a little patch that you can apply and remove when you want, with no effect on the save files (no modification on maps).
The 1.14 patch is adding a lot of things on the two first levels (big arrows to show what to do, more ammo and life, visual improvements...).
Now, i think that this mod can be played by "normal" gamers.

Maybe you should make a backup of your save folder, and only keep the last save from the mod.
It will be very hard to play StarCry with a 5 year old graphic card. Recommended settings are high / very high. You will have a lot of bugs if you don't have enough frames per second, and it will be very ugly with medium or low settings.
Slow computers will always have bugs, we can't fix this... You must be able tu run our benchmark in very high detail level, with more than 20fps. If not, you will have weird polygons on dead bodies, blocked scripts... It's an issue from crysis. We can't do anything about random crashes, crysis has a lot of memory leaks (some particles are constantly increasing the ram amount) and we don't have access to all the C++ code with the Mod Devkit. You can fix things if you want and share what you found, but our work will stop next WE. The mod is fine with good hardware, we had no bug during our last tests.
