Hi, I'm a guy from Sweden who's currently going to game development college. I'm interested in game development, creating 3d models and programming.
It just passed 5k! Live stream confirmed! :D
I have never mapped for Portal so I haven't investigated how the portals work, but if I get enough requests on this subject I will make a tutorial on it.
I'll take your message as a request on that subject, thanks!
I have a feeling that this will come to Desura... :D
Listen to the disclaimer in the video, it's all work in progress.
You just said yourself that there's always the risk that the server will crash, how's that possible if the program is free from server crashing bugs? There's always the risk, claiming that your software is crash free is pretty big.
How can you know if you've fixed all the server crashing bugs? Just add a "known" in there so you won't have to overstate your improvements. Maybe just a pet peeve of mine, dunno.
Good work in any case, I hope you get on SteamWorks!
We haven't worked on it for a while but are hoping to make a working blitz starting today so we can get the introduction level done for the presentation. Pretty much the only thing left at this point is simply to make all of the content, but we'll have to see if we ever finish it.
I really want to finish it though, it would be a super awesome experience making all those models, textures, choreographed scenes, maps, scripting and so on.
The mod will kinda be a mix of machinima and games, so it's basically HL2 with a custom story and lots of choreography. It won't be a dark mod or anything like that, we're hoping to throw in a few jokes.
I hope that answers your question, if you have any more then feel free to ask. :)
When I add a review to a game I have previously rated, the review doesn't show up when I browse my reviews. Actually, it doesn't show up at all.
On a totally different note; have you considered changing from a 1-10 rating system to a 1-5 rating system?
This is all so awesome, I'll be waiting for your next news post!
I love the blue armor on the jungle planet! :D
Yes this doesn't make any sense. :P
Look at what files are included man, the NRM part of WoodRough0088_2_NRM.vtf probably means normal.
That's so hot! Looking forward to trying this out!
I guess I could, if anyone wants it they can even have the vmf as I probably won't do anything with this anyway.
This is great! I'm mostly using the Source engine and that engine have a lot of trouble with transparency.
Where's the "I play for fun" option?
That video was funny! :D
I don't have an iAnything so this is good news!
Very interesting read!
You somehow can make these technical things very interesting to read about. As always; looking forward to the next update!
I like the sounds, the look and the feeling.
You just need to add a model for when it explodes and stuff like that! It'll be awesome.
Epic post, happy birthday Orion!
Also, I see you're using l/r trigger to change the paint type. You could use r/l button to change the color also, that would make sense and make it faster to use.
That's really cool! I didn't think it was possible to do such nice stuff using a mouse!
This launcher will be very useful, I like the idea of the profiles.
You're talking about the shadows under the trees? I think they're using static shadows for them. Because the shadows from the vehicles and stuff are sharp.
This is so amazing guys, looking forward to your next news post!
Worth noting is that Iiro Jäppinen made the original version of those social icons (FB, YT, Steam, Twitt, ModDB). Iirojappinen.com
Awesome stuff dudes, I hope people start using this! :)
He's talking about baking ambient occlusion, that's not a real time effect. You can do that for example in Blender, what it does is render a static ambient occlusion map that you can overlay onto your normal texture to give it more depth.
Runs very smoothly for me (9800 GT).
Looks nice, it feels like you've ripped the textures and levels straight from the game somehow, they look very, very much like the ones in the game.
Well done so far!
Wolfire Games don't have exclusive rights to use a wolf in their name and logo.
Yes, this is a good size, make them huge!
I want to be able to use them as my desktop wallpaper if they're hot like this one.
It depends, if I'm developing or have for example chats going on I go windowed. But generally when gaming I'm fullscreen.
That's so awesome, looking forward to that game a lot! :D
I think it's a great idea! Almost any game in a modern setting can make an ad look natural, plus it will be beneficial for two game developers instead of being just some thing.
I would take that offer if I were making a game where it would fit.
The cover art is great! I think it would look even better if the tree just had a fully white background (not with those grey lines).
Yep, looks and sounds interesting!
Woooow that is sooo amazing!
I really wonder what you'll do with this!
I actually think it's pretty easy changing the spec in alpha channel, but since that doesn't work as it should in Gimp, David has said that he's going to perhaps change that in the future to use a separate picture to define the spec.
And it's actually not my engine, I'm just a fan of Wolfire Games. :)
Yes this is awesome, I'll be waiting for this to become popular... :)
Thanks for the comments guys!
I'm glad you like it! :)
Don't know what's going on there, try again later I guess? :)
That's good to hear, thanks! :)
Like you and wazanator points out, you should only use decompiling for learning purposes.
Haha, I'm afraid I can only take one request per subject from any one watcher. ;P
Ah I did not know about that! I'll make sure to include it in a later optimization tutorial, thank you!
I was not aware of that! I'll add it to the annotations, thank you!
Well done on completing your game! Now go make some more! :D
You will probably get it tomorrow or something.
Thanks, it's great you like the annotations and how I speak. :)
Second voice compliment! I'm very glad you like my voice, if you didn't I would be kinda screwed. :D
BTW, more tutorials are coming. ;D
Thank you, stay tuned for more!
Thanks everyone! I will definitely make more, so stay tuned either by following me here on ModDB or on YouTube.
I don't like the guitar only parts, it sounds great when the instruments are mixed together. The best part is at 1:40.
Wow I got a pretty steady response on this one, thanks! I'm gonna have to make one more suited for Source games, this is just a signature image I have made.
Bit fast movement speed I think.
Looking pretty damn cool.
I also like it, it's cool.
I like having several bags.
Very nice potion models.
I'm very glad this didn't die, it's gonna be awesome to see the next release!
That's correct. They're like a big family of gods in Wolfire.
It's using the Spring engine, it should run fine on Linux without Wine, probably not this version though. The author should release a Linux version.
Can't you just install it with WINE?
This mod is awesome, work hard! :-D
I hope I can watch it this time :-( .
I'd say that in teory it is a map pack, but since it (haven't tried it) introduces new gameplay it could also be a mod. But on the other hand this doesn't modify the game so if you look at it like that it wouldn't be a mod.
Yup, so I was told! :-D
Those cars look like they are made for U3 engine!
