We are aiming for a 4 player co-op in Onslaught mode, and various multiplyaer styles in simulation mode such as verses, team death match capture the flag, and some unique Game types for CDF Ghostship. CDF ghostship multiplayer will be testing in summer 2014, releasing Halloween 2014.
Demo released! Any feedback?
Rift demo released! have fun funders!, without you it would not be possible! You earned it!
Hi, i don't have a native linux version, i don't have linux on any of machines at the moment. I am quite in the dark with linux to be honest, i have only ever used windows and mac. So if you would like to have a chat about this and maybe give me some advice on linux that would be great. my e-mail is - email@example.com send me a mail and we can have a chat through skype when you get time.
I really want to offer Ghostship to linux and I will do all i can at my end with my lack of knowledge on the subject.
Yeah, i am after some volunteers with linux who would like to do some testing, if your interested let me know :)
Yeah it’s a chemical fire, but the sound will be replaced by the beta stage. Just used a generic fire sound for that one :)
As i have had to do most of the sound and music, there are a few pieces i have spent some time on which are fine, but there are still lots of more generic ones at the moment, my sound designer has managed to supply a few sound effects and I hope to add a another sound designer to the project who can fill all the gaps :) My main focus for the sound was to give the player a more immersive feel of the environment with both ambient music and environmental sounds such as fans, lights etc. More will be added over time, sound is a crucial part of any game to add immersion and atmosphere to the look and feel of the game.
Yeah its hard work work but i have 20 years experience in 3d so it really helps. Just had a great programmer join the project which will give me more time to work on the other aspects of development :)
Cheers, Just finishing off the medical deck, ill post a few screen shots later :)
Great :) Hope you have lots more fun, and don't forget to check out the hints and tips thread in the Ghostship Forums.
There have been problems with the upload on desura, I have managed to sort out another mirror for the download and have just finished the upload. When i get the links for the download mirror I will be posting it on the downloads page on the Ghostship Website.
The Zip managed to save 2% as it is a single exe installer. And the site i am uploading it to want the exe file and not in zip format.
Its still uploading, Its 2.7 gig, I started uploading it today, at an average upload speed of 40kps then its not going to be ready for download sometime tomorrow. Ill keep you posted with the links when they are ready.
Try it and find out, story mode is a mix of survival horror and doom style/system shock gameplay.
Survival will be evident in the challenge of surviving the AI and working your way around the ship to try and find ways to escape. The horror is trying to survive what ever may lurk round any corner. There are only half the aliens in the alpha and a re probably the least scariest in looks, but even 1 can take you down if you are not careful.
Should be available on Saturday.
Cheers, That`s all taken care of now, The new web site is online, be sure to check it out :)
The story mode is like that, lots to work out if you want to escape the ship. Other game modes such as onslaught and challenge mode offer you lots of enemies and the big ones etc.
Story mode is about working things out as you will find out when i release the demo at weekend :)
Thanks for the feedback guys, a few things have come to light recently I will be looking into. I think the best way is to release the alpha I am polishing up at the moment, that will give you a real feel for the game and you will see the difference between my game and most other indie games. The aliens may not look scary, but as one of the alpha players said, once you play it, you will find the screens and videos dont give it justice. So that is the way ahead I think.
Thanks again guys :)
That said, who else in the world has made a game this big and this quality on there own? So i can at least have that achievement even if it is not appreciated.
The game will be multiplayer. Ghostship has 5 different game modes, 1 of these is the free roaming story mode. Others are the survival mode, the challenge mode, the arcade mode and simulation mode.
So the game has much variety, survival horror style, fast pace first person shooter, in first person or third person.
I am making this game by myself so it takes time, The logo will be changed at a later date :)
Oh and if you like sci-fi, check out my site - wwww.shauntwilliams.com
Still wip yet, but the full site will be finished this weekend.
CDF Ghosthsip was an no 3 this morning here on indieDB, thanks for checking out my game :)
The scavenger challenge is almost complete, and boasts a huge 2 decks in the personnel section of the ship. Just this challenge will take you an hour to successfully complete, all you have to do is keep exploring to find find and take it back to the survivors in the safe room before they die.
I will be posting some game-play of this by weekend!
Ghostship has just reached reached 14 here on indieDB, Thanks guys and girls :)
Lots of new improvements to ghostship over the last few weeks, be sure to check out the challenge mode.
typo on this one, the bottom mode should be Simulator Mode!
Other aliens will feature in Ghosthip such as the leechers, the creepers, the Stompers and there are human enemies to!
There are also 3 aliens which are top secret as they relate to the story-line and a huge twist towards the end of the game in Story Mode.
Kickstarter page has been re-done, hope this is clearer for everyone. I will be adding the rest of the game mode pages, an AI page and I will be finishing off the reward info and artwork later today :)
Latest footage on the kick-starter video, new weapons, 3rd person, new aliens, textures and animations. There is much more info about the new features of the game on Kick-starter such as the new 5 game modes, weapons etc.
HAVE YOU CHECKED OUT THE KICK-STARTER PAGE?
Yeah I had a few alpha testers, and the a couple of people who played the alpha also game a bit of feedback. Beta testers will have 5 Official Beta Testers, and then also be tested by those who have signed up for the kickstart project and pre-orders. These people are welcome to give feedback and report bugs.
Thats the Plasma SMG, feels totally differnt and has a lazer sight, these will be quite common throught the ship.
feels nice :) Wait till you find one of these!
Some decks will be zero G :)
Ok I see your point, the alpha is not just for bug testing, people who play it have earned that by helping me through development of the game. The alha fund has now finished so the issue you mention for paying to play an alpha is over now anyway so this is irrellivent.
I am a single person designing and developing a game tying to get some financial backing to get the funds need for the release of the game.
So what i will do to make you happy is now only make the alpha available to those who back the kickstart project next week and those who pre-order the game, i will remove this from the web site later on today.
The box shot is concept, I have seen many, many concepts using similar but i will remove the logo and repost the box shot tonight.
Yes a donation is required for (development) Not only do you get to play the alpha, you also get the beta and the full game as well as other goodies.
The alpha is free and the same as the beta. I have had just over $130 from the alpha fund which doesn't even start to cover any costs, so this is a reward for you by getting to play the game in various stages before it hits the shelves. I was originally asking just $6.99 donation to the alpha fund which is not a lot considering you get hours of fun in the alpha mode, days and weeks on fun in the beta and the full game for half price. Without funds I will not be able finish off development of the game and not be able to release it.
This is not so much fast paced, but just lots of action like doom. The main aspect of the game is the story mode which is a free roamer containing survival horror elements lots of exploration and action. The other game modes such as arcade mode, onslaught mode and challenge mode will be very fast paced.
check the ghostship web site www.cdfghostship.com under the PLAY area
Ghostship Alpha completed, !st milestone down, Now on to the beta :)
I looked into Oculus Rift and it looks a great match for this game, If I can I will. Again it will all come down to funding.
in the beta version they will also have a dodge animation and can roll to evade your fire, if you think they are nasty little critters in the alpha then just wait for the beta. The biters are a med-hard enemy. The Little ones will be quite frequent which are an easy - med enemy.
In The Alpha, Its the Big Biters you want to watch out for, as well as the stalkers and zombies. The beta will feature the little ones, the big ones, stompers, creepers, the flying ones and a few more.
Yes they follow you round corners, follow you up ledges, they are very challenging now
STill lots of things to improve on and multiplayer and co-op will make it much better.
Check out one of the first looks :
There are numerous rifles in the game, all have there good points and weak points. The rifle with red dot sight (plasma rifle assault Mk3) is your standard rifle, it has a light and has a max clip size of 79. The battle rifle is more powerful and has a clip size of 99 with a higher rate of fire. It does not have a tac light though. The Mk4 4 prototype which is unlocked (50 kills) is much more powerful than the mark 3 and has a quick rate of fire as well as a 99 round clip size. It also has a tac light. Laser weapons are not very powerful but they self charge (infinite ammo) The mini-gun is the gun to have as you see in this video. plasma Auto-shotgun is excellent at close range.
There will also be grenades, flamethrowers and multitude of other weapons, this is only in alpha :) Just wait to the beta :)
Yes there is a non VR mode, its still awesome and especially if you have a 3d monitor. But VR is truly something special with Ghostship Aftermath
That bug is fixed already :) there is lots more stuff in there, mp me and i will reply with a link for the hangar 2 demo :) if you want to do an update that would be cool. Don`t forget to check out Ghostship Aftermath. That`s the first release in May
Different weapons, different sites. There are 9 weapons in-game in the alpha, full game will have over 20.
The health indicator (yellow) is health, red is upto 100 health, then a super health takes you upto 200 and turns yellow. The right of that is the shield indicator, bright blue for full, changing to red as the shield depletes. When its empty you have no shield :)
Its an 80s style space craft :) And this screen shot is in the maintenance area in operations
I was going to send you a mail about that that :) And about how can we actually get a native linux version? We will be going for our third crowd funding shortly and want to offer native mac and linux versions as well as xbox one and playatstaion 4 releases. I really want to add the linux logo on the web site but can not unless we can guarantee a native linux version.
Wait till you play in the rift, its jaw dropping :)
DO you mean the leachers? They do very little damage, and you can just run away from them :)
I will be posting some gameplay hints for version .36 later today :)
:) Thanks, sure a lot of people will appreciate it.
The fighter at the beginning you mean? i will work on that.
I need a programmer to do a lot of the things I want to do, I am limited to what I can achieve. Many improvements with regards to the mechanics will happen when i can get some help :)
All normal maps sorted now :) LOL, they wasn't normalized, you will see the difference now!
Doors fixed and re-textured, same as most of the environment :)
Cant make spec map for the blood decals, its unlit, have added a normal now though :)
Overall the more time i spend on the graphics the better, but as a solo dev my time must go into all areas of development, there are 4 decks out of the ship finished, the other 17 are all different, I am working on the Amroury at the moment which i hope to finish off and include in the alpha 0.36
The helmet view is has only had 2 days of development. More will be done on this when we have the funding to Get the Oculus Rift dev kit and work further on this aspect.
There are still a few changes to be made to the helmet yet, but the view is attached to the players eyes on the model and represents the view correctly with terms of placement. Still much work to be done and you will be slightly swaying inside of your helmet as well.
Yeah I am sorry about that, just griping. 8 months down the line and I am at the stage where I need funding, and it is not going well. Just trying to re-iterate the fact that funding is urgently required and the second attempt of crowd funding is still going no where.
not many then ?
its 2.6gb Huge alpha, bigger than some full releases, so have fun :) If you like it please help spread the word !
Thanks :) Hope you enjoy the alpha :) I will be releasing an update at end of the month with some fixes and some more content. I hope to get the Oculus rift dev kit asap so i can make an alpha which is fully working with oculus rift :)
Cheers, this does offer something new!
Check out the announcements page shortly.
Cheers I have worked hard on this for last 6 months and now a programmer has worked hard for the last 2 weeks :)
Cheers, keep a watch for latest screens and gameplay video, Ghostship has been noticably improved over the last week or 2.
Been working about 100+ hours a week since November :)
Thanks, yes I did everything except for a handful of sound effects and the Main Title theme which is featured in the promo trailer :)
All the modeling, animation, texturing, sound, code, design and implementation has been done by just one person :)
