Yeah, i am after some volunteers with linux who would like to do some testing, if your interested let me know :)
There have been problems with the upload on desura, I have managed to sort out another mirror for the download and have just finished the upload. When i get the links for the download mirror I will be posting it on the downloads page on the Ghostship Website.
The Zip managed to save 2% as it is a single exe installer. And the site i am uploading it to want the exe file and not in zip format.
Its still uploading, Its 2.7 gig, I started uploading it today, at an average upload speed of 40kps then its not going to be ready for download sometime tomorrow. Ill keep you posted with the links when they are ready.
Try it and find out, story mode is a mix of survival horror and doom style/system shock gameplay.
Survival will be evident in the challenge of surviving the AI and working your way around the ship to try and find ways to escape. The horror is trying to survive what ever may lurk round any corner. There are only half the aliens in the alpha and a re probably the least scariest in looks, but even 1 can take you down if you are not careful.

The story mode is like that, lots to work out if you want to escape the ship. Other game modes such as onslaught and challenge mode offer you lots of enemies and the big ones etc.
Story mode is about working things out as you will find out when i release the demo at weekend :)
Thanks for the feedback guys, a few things have come to light recently I will be looking into. I think the best way is to release the alpha I am polishing up at the moment, that will give you a real feel for the game and you will see the difference between my game and most other indie games. The aliens may not look scary, but as one of the alpha players said, once you play it, you will find the screens and videos dont give it justice. So that is the way ahead I think.

That said, who else in the world has made a game this big and this quality on there own? So i can at least have that achievement even if it is not appreciated.
The game will be multiplayer. Ghostship has 5 different game modes, 1 of these is the free roaming story mode. Others are the survival mode, the challenge mode, the arcade mode and simulation mode.
So the game has much variety, survival horror style, fast pace first person shooter, in first person or third person.
I am making this game by myself so it takes time, The logo will be changed at a later date :)

CDF Ghosthsip was an no 3 this morning here on indieDB, thanks for checking out my game :)
The scavenger challenge is almost complete, and boasts a huge 2 decks in the personnel section of the ship. Just this challenge will take you an hour to successfully complete, all you have to do is keep exploring to find find and take it back to the survivors in the safe room before they die.
I will be posting some game-play of this by weekend!

Other aliens will feature in Ghosthip such as the leechers, the creepers, the Stompers and there are human enemies to!
There are also 3 aliens which are top secret as they relate to the story-line and a huge twist towards the end of the game in Story Mode.
Kickstarter page has been re-done, hope this is clearer for everyone. I will be adding the rest of the game mode pages, an AI page and I will be finishing off the reward info and artwork later today :)

Yeah I had a few alpha testers, and the a couple of people who played the alpha also game a bit of feedback. Beta testers will have 5 Official Beta Testers, and then also be tested by those who have signed up for the kickstart project and pre-orders. These people are welcome to give feedback and report bugs.
Thats the Plasma SMG, feels totally differnt and has a lazer sight, these will be quite common throught the ship.

Ok I see your point, the alpha is not just for bug testing, people who play it have earned that by helping me through development of the game. The alha fund has now finished so the issue you mention for paying to play an alpha is over now anyway so this is irrellivent.
I am a single person designing and developing a game tying to get some financial backing to get the funds need for the release of the game.
So what i will do to make you happy is now only make the alpha available to those who back the kickstart project next week and those who pre-order the game, i will remove this from the web site later on today.
The box shot is concept, I have seen many, many concepts using similar but i will remove the logo and repost the box shot tonight.
Yes a donation is required for (development) Not only do you get to play the alpha, you also get the beta and the full game as well as other goodies.
The alpha is free and the same as the beta. I have had just over $130 from the alpha fund which doesn't even start to cover any costs, so this is a reward for you by getting to play the game in various stages before it hits the shelves. I was originally asking just $6.99 donation to the alpha fund which is not a lot considering you get hours of fun in the alpha mode, days and weeks on fun in the beta and the full game for half price. Without funds I will not be able finish off development of the game and not be able to release it.
This is not so much fast paced, but just lots of action like doom. The main aspect of the game is the story mode which is a free roamer containing survival horror elements lots of exploration and action. The other game modes such as arcade mode, onslaught mode and challenge mode will be very fast paced.

I looked into Oculus Rift and it looks a great match for this game, If I can I will. Again it will all come down to funding.
in the beta version they will also have a dodge animation and can roll to evade your fire, if you think they are nasty little critters in the alpha then just wait for the beta. The biters are a med-hard enemy. The Little ones will be quite frequent which are an easy - med enemy.
In The Alpha, Its the Big Biters you want to watch out for, as well as the stalkers and zombies. The beta will feature the little ones, the big ones, stompers, creepers, the flying ones and a few more.
Yes they follow you round corners, follow you up ledges, they are very challenging now
There will be 3 CDF games, the first being Ghostship. The second will be an RTS similar in mechanics to Homeworld. The Third is a battlefield style game but instead of helicopers and jeeps etc there will be dropships etc as well as the lazer and plasma weaponry.
Headcrabs? you mean those things in Half-Life? If you mean the biters they are very different in every way, boths visually and characteristics. I would like to see you try and survive without a gun lol. I will be uploading a new onslaught gameplay vid tomorrow. The AI is now that good I can`t even make it to the end of round 1, and I am just about to put the "Big Biters" in to test lol.
