Just a programmer is hard to find on zero budget, never mind a good one. We are currently looking at other sources of funding and a lot is going to change with ghostship so keep watch :)
Hi glad you are enjoying the demo. Like i have stated numerous times, we need a programmer, the helmet view is as far as i have managed to get and much more needs to be done. The shake will be perfected when we have a programmer so will the other thing such as health display and stamina etc.
The story mode is much easier and there are nmo enemies in the first room. The aliens behind the door can get through closed doors because of the AI issues we have and with no programmer to fix the bugs and work further on the AI it will take time. In the beta and full release you will have no enemies until you get to the bridge.
Did you play the new alpha by the way (0.36) ?

These are the type 1 aliens, The type 2 aliens are a totally different design and totally different alien. But these are a surprise and are heavily story-line related. Apart from these you will have human enemies as well.
I asked for help with characters as I am no character artists, but with no help i have no choice but to do them myself, try them in-game first and you will see they are a lot more scary in battle lol!
There have been problems with the upload on desura, I have managed to sort out another mirror for the download and have just finished the upload. When i get the links for the download mirror I will be posting it on the downloads page on the Ghostship Website.

Ok I see your point, the alpha is not just for bug testing, people who play it have earned that by helping me through development of the game. The alha fund has now finished so the issue you mention for paying to play an alpha is over now anyway so this is irrellivent.
I am a single person designing and developing a game tying to get some financial backing to get the funds need for the release of the game.
So what i will do to make you happy is now only make the alpha available to those who back the kickstart project next week and those who pre-order the game, i will remove this from the web site later on today.
The box shot is concept, I have seen many, many concepts using similar but i will remove the logo and repost the box shot tonight.
the ai is currently a lot better than on this video thanks to my lead programmer. The biters are now just how i wanted them to be, and the odd one when shot pretends to die, and randomly springs back to life and attacks you, good fun trust me. As far as the sounds go which fire sound do you mean, or do you mean impact sound, for which weapon? The lazer impact sound is a sizzle type sound and the plasma impact sound is again a slight sizzle sound because of the plasma tip on the round. The sounds will all be redone depending on how much funding I get. I have had Jamie Robb design the main theme, a few ambient tracks and a handfull of sound effects, all the rest i have had to do myself, and not being a sound designer myself there are a few i will be keeping that i am quite happy with such as the lazer fire sounds, the sounds for the biters and stalkers and some of the music i did will be kept. Dont forget for 6 months i have had to work on all areas of the game myslef, but in the last 2 weeks I have had a programmer join the project so I can leave a lot of that to him :) After funding I hope to get someone on animations and someone on sound. I
The alpha fund will grant you the full alpha release (4 decks in story mode and 1 map in onslaught mode. The full beta on Halloween (full ship) and you get the full release for half price. Full release eta - Between Xmas and New Year 2013 and will include full ship and the rest of the story mode carrying on to the Icarus 3 orbital station or the Icarus 3 colony. The full release will also feature an arcade mode.

There will be a "ghostship" tourist attraction style release where you just explore the huge ship, there will be ghosts on that one! Its more of a tourists attraction than a game! Great for sci-fi fans to explore a huge scary spaceship and even better in oculus rift as you will have time to look at your surroundings and all the the ships facilities.

Helmet mode is only on stort mode at the moment, it will be available on all modes in the pre-beta release in september.

Yes Ghostship is multiplayer and co-op, but the alpha versions are single player. We hope the first beta will also have multiplayer but that is all down to funding.
The new alpha is much better, the free roaming starts after you disengage the lockdown on the bridge :) If you go to captains console (bug in old aloha where no onscreen message says to activate the console) press e to use captains console (the console where the plasma rifle is!
The fund doesnt start until you disengage the lockdown :) New alpha is fixed and much better and easier and different.
Have you had chance to play the latest alpha? did you check the credit?
The new alpha is much different, much improved and overall much better. I am sure you wont hate that one as much :)
New alpha should be released at the end of the month.

The beta will be available to those who have contributed through crowd funding and those who have pre-ordered. The new alpha will be available very shortly here on desura (more on the new ghostship web site - www.cdfghostship.com) The new alpha has been vastly improved and its still free. Further updates and the oculus rift alpha will only be available to members. Alpha 0.36 is the last public release.
The Beta on Halloween will also be open to 200 beta testers (apply to firstname.lastname@example.org) 200 of the applicants will be decided at the end of august. This is your only chance to play the alpha if you have not contributed. And as the price may be changing due to private investment and lack of crowd funding then don't leave it to long to pre-order or support our indieGoGo campaign.
The beta is a huge game and bigger than a lot of AAA games you get today. And it will have Oculus Rift support, so the first Beta version will be released on Halloween which will be very fitting, this is one of the scariest games you will play in helmet mode and oculus rift. We have reached the stage where are far from our target fund and now is the time we need funding, so after the imminent Alpha 0.36 release all updates and the beta will only be available for those who have helped us develop and build on the alpha, everyone will have to wait for the full release next year which will hopefully be in the first quarter 2014, but depending upon funding then development schedules may be put back a few months. I will keep you posted on this.

The alpha is a free so you can get get a feel for the game, the alpha fund raised less than £50, and the crowdfunding a little more. We still have a long way to go yet
Its more than an update, is almost a total overhaul. I will emailing desura tomorrow to work out when we can release it, and as an update or new install. Watch the news!
The alpha has had many, many changes and is much improved in every regard. We also hope to get the mac version out at the same time. Few days later than planned with the release as i have been ill for a few days.
Multiplayer is not in the alpha s stated numerous times :)
The Beta will full oculus rift support, hopefully we will be able to get the dev kit next month and also release a fully supported alpha.
18th July the new alpha should be available for download, I am hoping it can just be an update from the desura download, but i will let you know more closer to the time. Also trying to get a mac release out at the same time and maybe a linux compatible version using wine :)
Quick look at 1st person mode in new alpha, you also have helmet view and third person. woohooo 3 different view types, something for everybody! And they all play and feel different.
The new alpha is improved in every way, sound, visuals, totally new story mode and fixed a lot of bugs. Releasing on the 18th :)
It sounds like it is something to do with desura. it could be your install, try re-installing it or raise the issue with desura. Please let us know how you get on and if you manage to find out what the problem is so that others who may have the same problem in the future have more information on it.
Anyone else know of this problem?
A few things i would suggest,
Download the latest version of directX and install that first, then try re-installing the GhostshipGame.
I have not heard of this problem yet, but i do know due to compatibility with the current version of wine for linux users, It tries to use DX11, i will see if there is anything i can do for the next alpha release with regards to that.
