It's no coincidence that Kessel is German for an illegal substance. Kessel is mined for glitterstim, which is a "spice" drug.

I'm actually surprised this is taking so long... perhaps it's going to be released at midnight 6/5/11(z's time).

What for? It could mean it will be there first thing in the morning when he wakes up this Saturday. I may have to wait till the afternoon or the evening before I can even start downloading it.

If it shows as 6/3 for you, then it's because of your timezone. It shows as 6/4 for me.

I think Z is giving testers a little more time to play the new patched version of the mod with all the fixes to see if there are any other bugs that might pop up. (and especially to make sure there are no more "[MISSING]" names and descriptions for stuff)

You mean it's more like asking which came first, the chicken or the egg? I would never ask a turtle anything, much less run as fast as a cheetah.

No it's not. Some of us just haven't been able to work on the mod recently (like I had college to deal with). We might have a demo out by Christmas (once a few things are taken care of), but that's ultimately up to JC.

It was removed because it didn't work right. Those lightsaber duels are known as heroclashes in the code, and there was supposed to be one for Han Solo and Boba Fett... but that didn't work. The only one that did work was the one with Darth Vader and Obi Wan Kenobi, but they used special animations to make that work. Soooooo, Z could do it for this but... it requires a lot of tedious animation work to make sure each possible saber duel has synchronized animations.

You can't mod 100% of a game or else you could call it your own game. The only thing that isn't moddable is the game engine itself. However, we are able to make totally new game mechanics such as a black hole sucking in and destroying nearby ships. Doesn't mean that will be featured in RAW, but it's an example of what we can do now in mods that we couldn't do in the original game. There is a multitude of new game mechanics in the large mods that are still on-going and I'm willing to bet RAW will have plenty of them.

I wouldn't say that's 100% true. Z has modding friends outside of the RAW mod team and I'm quite certain that there are select material that are shared between them.

The reason there's no "good mod" with "good models" of the yuuzhan vong ships is because 1, the yuuzhan vong had "living" ships, 2, the game mechanics doesn't support all the necessary functions needed to make a yuuzhan vong ship behave properly, 3, the models would take a lot more work to do and require quite a bit of imagination for people make than most other ships.

Some people (including me) have to use Mike.nl's patch for Vista/7 in order to make EAW/FOC work. So if one of you is using that and not the other, that would also conflict with the compatibility. Though the patch isn't necessary for XP, it may work just fine without bugging up anything.

Just something else for you to consider when trying to make your game work.

If you play any mod online, you and all of your opponents must be playing with the exact same mod (that means you can't change anything in the mod yourself).

Of course both of you must have the same EAW patch installed as well. The last patch released for EAW was the 1.5 patch. This patch came with the FOC expansion and is required before FOC can be installed. If you don't have FOC, you can find the 1.5 patch on the xfire network or somewhere else.

Beta means that RAW was released as an incomplete mod for bug reporting. Beta's aren't always available to the public though, usually just to trusted people.

Unfortunately, some people abuse the trust people place in them and leak private beta's to other people... as in the case mentioned below.

When the size of the mod is bigger than EAW's and FOC's installation files combined (over 2gb), yeah you're going to get some major lag (comparably). Even so, if you can run the unmodded games at max graphics, then you'll be able to run RAW at minimum with little to no lag.

I don't think someone who's apologizing for his poor English should be criticizing another person who's apologizing for the same lack of linguistic skill.

Aside from that, both sith and jedi say the same thing "May the force be with you." They don't differentiate between the darkside or the lightside of the force when praying for their empowerment.

@AZAZEL, you should be able to handle the game with minimum graphics just fine. You might be able to handle higher graphics settings, but it depends on how much RAM will be used by the game.

This is being put together by hobbyist modders, not full-time "professional" game developers. You can't expect Z and his team to dish out a good overhaul mod in a short time. Same goes for any other overhaul mod still in production.

We don't do public beta testing (in case people haven't noticed lol), so you pretty much have to be a well known and trusted member of the modding community to beta test. If you want to beta test, I would recommend going to alphabluemodding.com and applying there(on the forum or by sending JC a PM). Just don't get mad if you're not accepted. ;)
