Idea: Ambush/Environmental Blending
Ability Type: Special
Pro: When in a shaded area, necro players can hit a key (e.g. ctrl) and blend in with their environment, making them harder to spot. Once a player gets close enough, the necros can ambush them with a critical swipe attack.
Con: Necros will give off a low growl when blending for too long, to limit camping possibilities. Also, if their swipe attack misses, they get dazed for a bit, making it harder for them to escape the area.
This would be especially useful in areas where players have to complete certain tasks (stay for a prolonged time) and adds to the atmosphere.

Nah, leave them topless, or if anything, just put a very shredded top on. It looks far more terrifying when you see a mutilated and decrepit human body running at you in-game, so the more flesh the better. The horde zombies from L4D looked cool.. but weren't anything close to being "scary". This female (and the male) zombie are a completely different story. They look great and they look horrifying at the same time.

oh no of course, but I mean, it'll get mod teams motivated to work that extra bit harder to make the release in time. I mean, obviously if its not up to standard they won't want to release it, if it's going to backfire on them.

the game looks really neat! loved the demo.. but I can't get the game (yet) as I don't have a credit card and steam doesn't seem to accept my debit cards. And my bank doesn't accept paypal or click&buy. Should get my credit card in a month or two tho :) Guess I'll have to wait hehe

staying focused/motivated as danpearce had said is the hardest. Inactive members are one contribution (especially if it is in a field you don't know much about - and there is only so much you can do on a massive project on your own, in a realistic timeframe). However I think continued failing of features within the game or mod can also be quite a drag and people are likely to lose focus/motivation thereafter.
once we've successfully finished that feature and perhaps found ways to simplify it, we might post a how-to thread for other modders to do it, too on blackout studios :)

this mod deserves to be on steamworks.. in fact, it looks so damn good, it deserves to be made retail with backing by valve. But thats just me rambling on. Can't wait for the release!
the mod is in a state of hibernation. We may release something at a later date, however for now, consider the mod to be asleep.
Oh and before I forget, In terms of The Thing, it's polish :D
love the article. catches a lot more attention than the ordinary news posts. The game is looking sweet too, and to be perfectly honest.. once you get into the game, you don't really tend to look at the graphics, you tend to focus on how much fun your having playing the game!

you could ask the same question about all sorts of other mods. And games for that matter. Why play counter strike when you can play insurgency and vice versa. Why play GTA when you can play Driver?

looking good so far, although the office-divider are looking a bit..well out of place. You wouldn't usually see bare plywood pannels as dividers.. its more likely going to be something "carpeted". I don't know the name for it.. but it looks like carpet in a sense. Also, its usually not as tall as it is here.. Maybe lower it a little bit.
And finally, the name sign for Malcolm is relatively big in relation to the rest of the scene. Other than that, I don't see anything wrong with it :) Keep it up!
