Good thing about recreating an old- popular game, no one can blame you for a crappy design (I mean the weapon, not the current work, I watched one of the cutscenes in starcraft and I was like, is that a stick?)

Hey giving marines at least 15 different faces and are spewed randomly would be awesome. In other words, unique face models lol
If I can make suggestions:
-As far as I can see it, the mod is great. Are the opposing force those aliens? If they are (player controlled) allow them to control the medium to junggernaut aliens and include 'Grab' to instantly kill or seperate the humans.
-Give environmental surprises. For example, when a player is walking through a steep cliff side, put on some trigger that makes some snow fall on Him/ Her. This will knock them back a lil'. When they are thinking it is over, enable an AI alien to drop 2 soldiers down the cliff (still surviving) thus seperating the team. Or dropping a dead North Korean soldier body in front of a player in a gloomy area.
-Give more manuverability in the mod. Maybe you can borrow assets from this map. Crymod.com (If the link doesn't work, check the final page of IA maps for CW in crymod.com) That should make the game more unexpecting.
